When I watched Thoughts and Prayers I interpreted Lily's white shirt as her being an innocent involved in a shooting (either a child who was involved and possibly killed or a surviver who lost a friend/family member) and the thoughts and the prayers were all trying to reach her to help and comfort her (possibly in heaven if she's really a child who died) but not actually doing anything for her to bring her back or change the future.
But I'm not a dancer or choreographer so I am completely aware that I could be talking pretentious nonsense haha.

Despite the turmoil and nasty chaos, Abby showed excellence in education, choreography, multiple meanings and interpretation of the artistry, and loves her passion as well as her students. There were failures in life, with her relationship with her girls from the show the mothers, and is there pain still from the past? There always is, but Abby deserved a lot more than vitriol, hatred, and resentment from her many mistakes. Keep going forward Abby!

Love these videos where you give insight and details about the dances and the behind the scenes. These were all great routines!
As far as PTSD, I'd say I have it mildly from giving birth to my first child at 21yrs old during 9/11/01. Drs and nurses were running all over the place, I live in NY, and they forgot about me. I was laboring hard and had contractions every minute for hours and they never got me my epidural. I gripped the bed rails so tight I took the paint off and they had to get paint thinner from maintenance to get it off my hands. My son was stuck and I wasn't progressing, after 36hrs of intense labor, a failed epidural when I did get it, and all the death and destruction on the TV that people kept coming in and turning on was too much! I remember holding my son alone in my room after he was born thinking the world was about to go to war, nobody knew if more was coming, could my baby and I die? To this day whenever they replay the attacks from 9/11 it takes me right back to that time and I feel like I'm in a deep depression, it's a feeling of impending doom and dread that washes over me the whole day. Took me 4 years for my husband and I to have another baby because of the trauma of the first one. ♥️

The PTSD one made me sad… because my grandpa served in the military and is still alive to this day but made me cry in joy that he took a risk to save us and this made me think about how great full we should be. My own grandpa and more loving people risked their lives to make OUR lives better and I would like everyone reading this to smile. And think about their loved ones that made it or did not make it. But how they wanted to SAVE their loved ones.

A lot of these dances have deep meaning to me. I was in a really bad car wreck when I was little that almost killed my baby sister. Both my mom and my stepdad were in the millitary but my stepdad has really bad ptsd from it. I have ptsd from an accident when I was in sixth grade. I was riding around the block with my sister and the guy I liked and I turned the corner with too much momentum to go down a super steep hill and I blacked out. I now know from house cameras that I lost control of the bike, hit my neighbors mail box and took off the top of it. I wound up fracturing my mastoid and I had a brain bleed. I am now left with permanent hearing loss and I need glasses. I had just started dance at the time so choreography in whole became something I find amazing. I don’t dance anymore because my family doesn’t have the money, but every single time I hear a song I, seemingly on autopilot, begin to create a routine. Group dances and smaller alike.

the suicide hotline number & the ptsd number were very important to me. i was hospitalized in psychiatric care for a week after an attempt when i was a teenager. the hospital experience was very traumatizing for me, it’s three years later and i still scream and cry if i have to go into a doctors office. ptsd is very real and often times people don’t understand what is going on/are quick to judge. to everyone in a doctors office it just looks like i’m a twenty year old having a tantrum. it’s very hard to explain to people what those situations feel like, but i thought these dances captured it well. i specifically like in hotline how the more you rewatch it, the more you notice the little signs & symbolism in the piece. it’s very accurate to real life (at least for my experience) that so many things you should be looking for in order to help someone, are very hidden. its a good reminder for everyone to help each other.

for the thoughts and prayers group dance, is it the political parties? having each side represented along with Lily wearing white and doing her solo part, shows how the people on the outside seem disconnected from the real issue. They have their discussions and present their arguments while the people that are truly in danger are being overlooked. Lily is isolated from the piece while also being the reason why the piece is important in the first place. I think the meaning of the white for me might be more of a subjectivel thing, but white represents purity and innocence, which adds further meaning and impact to my previous statement.

I really don't think the moms nor people out there criticizing you understand how much you understand and put into this art. You really do live and breathe this in a way that so so many don't. Your references and everything you say just makes it so clear, how much you appreciate and think about all the fine details as much as the big picture. You didn't need this show's bs just as much as the moms didn't and no one thinks about how all that affected you just bc you handled their crap in a different way and your anxiety and depression manifested the way it did. Editing is everything. Why do people listen to only certain sides of the story? I will never get it.
As for the white shirt- you need all the colors of the flag. The white symbolizes her innocence, her not knowing what to choose bc she doesn't understand and shouldn't understand the issue, she was representing the choice the country needed to make.
The suicide one- I felt the costume colors should have been reversed for the same reasons tbh. The angels should have worn white and I'm curious why you chose the opposite.

I have PTSD from domestic violence. I thought I had delt with it all until I had to wear a mask during covid. I had a full blown panic attack . My Dr. was very helpful by telling me I didnt have to wear one at all.

Same here. But I didn’t allow it to go full blown. I was able to wear it for short periods when necessary. I was grateful that I am retired and didn’t have to go to work. I would have no way been able to handle that mask on all day.

This human being is very creative and knows her dance. She takes on this roll of being very strict. But that’s because she’s never had kids of her own.
