Regarding the surprise that's usually associated with the heavier and edgier pieces of Sonic OSTs, it's important to note it doesn't just happen out of nowhere every once in a while for this franchise. The Classic Era of Sonic (1991-1997) wasn't anything spectacular in terms of narrative and world building but it still offered more backbone and characterization than its competition at the time, which allowed the next era of Sonic, the so-called Adventure Era (1998-2009) to flourish in thet aspect. The world building, cast characterization, lore and stories told throughout those 11 years are for the most part mature in nature. Power hungry tribes disrespecting Gods and getting punished for it and the chief getting his daughter killed in his greed, the military offing an entire facility researching bioweapons and leaving no witnesses (including a kid, Maria Robotnik), characters facing existential crisis (like Knuckles in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Shuffle), a character named Silver going back on forth on whether sacrificing one to save many is morally just, Shadow having PTSD, there are soooooo many examples, I'm only scratching the surface. More often than not in the Adventure Era you ended up fighting borderline invincible Gods and machines of destruction, songs like Solaris Phase 2 and Break Through It All were both contextually appropriate and common back then.
It's been since Frontiers' launch that I've heard the vocal rendition of "I'm with you" and it's still getting me a tad emotional listening to it after so long. Frontiers is weird, janky game, but damn if it doesn't have flashes of a wonderous, beating heart when it comes to Eggman's story; something I never thought I'd say about a Sonic game
So happy Seabottom Seague made it. It's genuinely such a great track that unfortunately gets mixed in with a very, very "eh" game. Granted, there are some other tracks I also love. Some other Lost World tracks that I view as must watches would be: - Wonder World (the main theme song of the game) - Windy Hill Zone Act 1 (the theme of the first stage of the game, being a whimsical grassy area that takes just a little bit from Green Hill Zone) - Frozen Factory Zone Act 1 (another whimsical stage theme, with this one being an ice themed one that gives off heavy Christmas vibes) - Dr. Eggman Showdown (the final boss song. Also my favorite non-vocal final boss theme) - Bonus: Special Stage (This is specifically from the 3DS version of Sonic Lost World, as the WiiU version didn't have any Special Stages lol) This game's OST is honestly great, and I'd love to see some more tracks pop up in more videos. Plus another really solid list this stream, great job to the chatters for suggesting more amazing songs.
Lost world really suffered because of its awful story. I thought it was a decent game. Not buggy or broken and it had great music. The levels weren't amazing (basically any level with seabottom segue was a nightmare) but most of them were decent enough.
Some great variety in that ost. From the Cajun sound in Midnight Owl to the rolling drums and funky guitar of the cave theme to the casino jazz in Double Down, definitely some great evocative tracks
The hub world night themes in Sonic Unleashed are so beautiful, and the way you described Spagonia Night was so heartfelt that I almost felt like tearing up.
most people think Kellin Quinn is a girl when they hear his voice dw lmao. he can just reach really high highs. also super hype to hear full album listens. problem is some games like shadow the hedgehog have like 100+ songs lmao
"I'm with you" is very much in a similar vein to SEGA's end credits songs for Phantasy Star games, like World With Me, Hello, or the Song of Mourning. :) And they do love to match the lyrics to their characters. ('I'm with you' carries the voice of Sage at the ending of the extended story.)
It is also refreshing to hear such technical analysis of the content. Few really can understand game music at so many levels. Your perspective as a performer adds so much depth since you understand deeply how to connect to the text and how to deliver an emotional performance while staying within the technical boundaries of the media. ❤️
Love that you finally reacted to I'm With You! I'd love to see your reaction to the boss version, though! Also, the vocal version of I'm With You is the happy, alt-path counterpart to the main-path Dear Father, as well as the vocal version of the Hard Mode-exclusive final boss theme.
1:47:36 So those are the actual lyrics to that part of the song... I've always heard "Overdrive and overrun the competition! Caring about the damage when it's done!" Which sort of encapsulated Sonic's mindset at that part of the game imo. Overdrive and Overrun the competition - turning Super Sonic to beat the boss as fast as possible. Caring about the damage when it's done - he can care about the collateral later, he's got more important things on his mind right now (finding Tails and making sure he's okay).
So, the lyrics for this section are: "Don't stop, we're on a mission Overdrive, and overrun the competition COUNTING UP the damage when it's done" Same general message about focusing on survival and finding Tails, but in my mind, this is also highlighting Sonic's cyber-corruption. It's not in his nature to relish in a victory and savor the battle, but his mind is being overtaken by the cyber-corruption, which could make him more brutal and aggressive in the Super Sonic state. I wish that was highlighted more in Sonic and Super Sonic's combat animations as the game went on.
@@cual686 according to the sonic symphony, it's "overdriving over all the competition" which was very interesting to find out considering i'd been hearing "overdrive and overrun" too
I think the Gens version of Rooftop Run is a bit better than the Unleashed version. It's very subtle but they added more instruments to it. Like they added more woodwind and violins to it. Otherwise the remix is really faithful to the original.
Something else about Sea Bottom Segue. It plays at one level near the beginning of the game when the tone of the narrative is more upbeat, then once again at a level near the end. Even though the game it comes from isn't very well known for its story, the context of these two moments puts the song in very different perspectives. It's second round makes the song feel so much more somber, as at this point in the story, Sonic has lost contact with everyone he knows (even Eggman, who he was teaming up with to stop the villains of Lost World) and is unsure if any of them are still alive. Instead of the song feeling like a reflection of the ocean around you in first round from earlier in the game, it feels like a reflection of Sonic's own perspective of the situation. We see a peek of desperation from him, but for his friends' sakes, he has to keep moving.
How has no one recommended The Sonic Rush OST?! I just watched all of your videos to confirm 😅 I highly recommend Wrapped in Black and Raising Me Up from Sonic Rush! Very cool tracks that I think might surprise you. :) Also new subscriber! Thanks for the insight on the musical side of things! It’s very cool to dive in and get another perspective on video game osts!
Marco has to cover the music of sonic 3d blast, the genesis have the best in the entire era and saturn versions are more sonic R alike songs because they are composed by the same person!
On one hand, it’s pretty cool to see if somebody come in without context and hear these tracks for what they are, but in the case of something like Solaris Phase 2, I think a lot of the impact is lost not having heard the main theme of the game His World played throughout your entire journey leaning up to that point.
Man hearing rooftop run in action on that stage makes it even better I just realized. The music on itself is energetic for sure but is slightly repetitive without you playing the stage.
Fun fact for Break Through It All and all the titans boss themes. Through the story you see the memories of a ancient race essentially being wiped out and piloting these titans as a last ditch effort. So the boss battles songs, are essentially can be for both Sonic and the ones piloting the Titans too as well as even a conversation between Sonic against the Titans. Its so damn goooooood.

21:41 actually, you have come across a theme around Knuckles. Unknown from M.E.(Master Emerald). That was his main theme from Sonic Adventure and they made another version in Sonic Adventure 2.
Here’s the thing about Sonic soundtracks. The grand majority are great pieces on their own, but they’re an entire other beast within context. The series has this sorta thing where each character has their own genre of music. Sonic is almost always some sort of rock music, knuckles has rap, rouge has jazz, etc. The other thing they do is they always make the final boss music be some sort of rendition of the game’s main theme or its title theme. There’s something about the way they compose that makes each track so nice that you can’t really put it into words. Also, you should definitely try Unleashed. It’s genuinely a good game with peak animation and music, and the credits theme of Endless Possibility is something I’d really love to see you listen to.
Comment section I believe we have a dedicated responsibility to hit one of the marks that haven’t been touched yet…guys we gotta go to sonic rush. ITS HIDEKI NAGANUMA TIME BOIS
Oh dang, he didn't get Larry, he got _leery!_ Always got that one wrong! =D A Ghost's Pumpkin Soup is apparently the first Sonic song Tomoya Ohtani ever composed! ^^
@Kniffel101 Ohtani composed "Endless Possibilities," "Rooftop Run," and the daytime music for Windmill Isle, Savannah Citadel, Cool Edge, Arid Sands, and Jungle Joyride. There are a lot of loved tracks from other composers in this game; Fumie Kumatani's contributions are just as excellent as Ohtani's in my opinion. But a good chunk of the most well-known pieces from _Unleashed_ is credited to Ohtani.
@@Flamestar320 The soundtrack has 91 tracks, out of those Ohtani-san only (partly or fully) created 16, which is still quite a few, and all are good, but it's not close to the majority! =P
@@Kniffel101I understand. The commenter just said that Ohtani's tracks were their favorites out of _Unleashed._ It likely doesn't mean they think the rest of the music isn't excellent.
@@Flamestar320 My interpretation was them deservedly praising Ohtani-san, while attributing the entire Unleashed OST to him, which isn't accurate. That's why I made my initial comment in this thread. We don't need to argue about this more. =)
In the stream you said something about reacting to full sonic osts after listening to the symphony, if so I can’t wait for you to see Sonic Cd JP, it’s my all time favourite
No one comes out the same way they came in when listening to Pumpkin Hill. (I also have extreme nostalgic fondness for number 1, cause Sonic R is kinda hard for a lil kid so finally hearing that music after grinding at it for so long, feel so cathartic)
Well Spagonia IS actually based on Italy, so saying it sounds Italian is pretty on the nose. In Sonic Unleashed, Sonic travels to various countries around his universe’s Earth in search of Shrines that use the Chaos Emeralds in order to restore the shattered Earth back to normal after Eggman broke it, in order to draw power from an entity sealed in the center of the Earth called Dark Gaia. Apotos is Mykonos, Greece. Spagonia is Italy. Mazuri is Mali, Adabat is a cross between Thailand, Bali and Latin America, Empire City is New York, Holoska is Alaska, Chun-nan is China, and Shamar is a combination of several Arabian countries. Oh, and Eggmanland is Walt Disney World, Florida.
The areas are supposed to represent continents while being loosely based on a country or area from a region. Holoska is supposed to be Inuit or other Artic region cultures. Spagonia is west Europe, etc.
If you really want a deep cut song you'll never hear someone mention, try "The Palace That Was Found" from Sonic and the Secret Rings. It's overshadowed by 7 Rings In Hand to many so you wont see many mention it.
Hi, Marco. Have you ever checked out Banjo-Kazooie's OST. It's really interesting, specially as each level has a few variations related to the place in the level, e.g., you hear one version when you enter the level, but if you go underwater, the music changes instrumentation, keeping up with the main theme of the piece
If Marco loved Door Into Summer, then he'd also love other music tracks from Knuckles Chaotix such as Combination, Evening Star, Midnight Greenhouse or Seascape, that last one in particular being the best one in the OST in my opinion.
You said "she," but funny thing is that the singer you're referring to for Break Through it All is actually a guy, the lead vocalist for Sleeping with Sirens! I'd say give those guys a try if you haven't listened to their stuff either. Yeah but they did absolutely amazing working with the Sega team and other musicians on these songs. I was super hoping that Vic Fuentes was gonna be a part of the team as well so that we could have Pierce the Veil, Sleeping with Sirens and ONE OK ROCK all on a single Sonic OST ugh the dream
i really hope you listen to ouranos island one day. all of the island themes in frontiers are good, but i think you’d love how complex the orchestration in it is. to call it beautiful is an understatement ngl
Faded Hills definitely hit "obscure" in some of the ways you described it, lol. Like, no one is going out of their way to listen to this song. I think "infamous" might be a better way to describe it, actually. I actually adore the song. Idk why everyone hates it so much. The instruments are super grating, but the actual song is really nice. And sometimes you like grating songs! lol
Hope he gets to listen some of the nostalgic obscured songs like sonic mega collection - extras menu , sonic CD- sonic boom, mystic ruins, Savannah citadel, etc. the underrated ones that no one talks about
Well, if you really like the Sega Genesis sound fond, I'd recommend listening to a song from Jewel Master just called Jewel Master (pretty much the main theme and the 1st level song). It's pretty lengthy of a Genesis game song (about 2.5 minutes before it loops), but also just really good.
A bit unrelated, but a few music suggestions - not from Sonic. Nozomanu Tatakai - Beyond the Boundary (Kyoukai no Kanata) (Anime) (Don't worry, it's not the opening or ending theme) Opening of a Strange Little Story - Beyond the Boundary (Kyoukai no Kanata) (The general soundtrack from the show/series also has some other nice tracks) The Tragedy - Helck (Anime) Azudra - Helck (Anime) Moonlike Smile - Genshin Impact (Video Game) After Sunset - Phantom Crash (Video Game from the original Xbox, practically unknown, these tracks are amazing though - the full soundtrack is very mishmashed) Move On - Phantom Crash (Video Game) Into the Wilderness - Wild Arms (Video Game) The Marsh Where Migrant Birds Gather (Port Town) - Wild Arms (Video Game) Icule Lake (Area) - Toram Online BGM (Video Game) Rakau Plains (Area) - Toram Online BGM (Video Game) I feel like there was something else very specific, but it slipped my mind. (I'm pretty sure it was from a video game) EDIT: I REMEMBERED! *Dervish - Dungeons of Dredmor (Video Game)* (You must listen to it) Icebattle - Dungeons of Dredmor (Video Game) Pits - Dungeons of Dredmor (Video Game) Subter - Dungeons of Dredmor (Video Game) Brawl - Dungeons of Dredmor (Video Game) That game might have some others you would appreciate (Stygian, Temple, Tutorial, Title) but the ones above are some of my favorites. A lot of the tracks from Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness are surprisingly good, but it definitely wasn't that. Heat Up! - Running High (PS1) (Video Game, also not what I was originally thinking of.) Genesis Beyond the Beginning - Ys Origins (Video Game) (Sorry, I couldn't stop, the Ys games in general have so so much more as well) Wood Carving Partita - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Video Game) Cave Story... (Video Game)
With how much you were into the Spagonia night theme you should give a try to the Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle sound track, it has a lot of similar songs that don't get enough love
Wow, how about Knuckles theme from Sonic Adventure DX, it's a banger! And "Open your heart", "Casino royal", "Tical theme", "Gamma theme" . Folk, don't ket Marco skip it, pretty, pretty please.
2:29:26 not gonna lie, i'm a little bit sad you didn't listen to I'm with you, or at least not before the vocal version, but hopefully you get to it when you play sonic frontiers
If you liked the Colors music so far, you should check out the remixes in Sonic Colors Ultimate. The remaster is kinda terrible but they cooked with the soundtrack. The original music became act variants with additional remixes added in for other acts.
I think on its own, Faded Hills isn't that bad. I can hear it fitting in with music I've heard in other things and it has a nice melody. It's just... it isn't good for what it was supposed to represent and what other tracks it plays alongside of. It's jarring. Previously, I only hear it in the background of Classic Sonic gameplay while playing Forces... But having come back to this stream not hearing anything else at this time, and just taking it in and paying more attention to it with nothing else going on, it wasn't bad. And I think Mirage Saloon Act 2 is my favorite theme of Mania! I hear the Western Era motif but most of it is just jazz party. I don't get why, but it makes the Wild West atmosphere feel much better for me!

The vocal version legit has made me genuinely sob multiple times. Hell doing it rn as I am at that portion of the stream lol
You could seriously make a living off of analyzing Sonic music, it's a never-ending fountain!
Chat was SUFFERING when Faded Hills started playing. Like nails in a chalkboard
its really just the opening that's bad. rest of the song is actually pretty good.
@sonicgamerplays-cr4hk it's so bad, like all of Forces music. The melody is decent but the instrumentals are annoying af
@@endless_limes nah tbh, i kinda like em except the classic level stages
@@endless_limes Forces OST is goated, the classic music is the only thing that's actually questionable quality
@@bichoestranhocomcaudas6543 goated??? It's got a few bangers but the greatest of all time?? There's got to be some mistake
So happy Seabottom Seague made it. It's genuinely such a great track that unfortunately gets mixed in with a very, very "eh" game. Granted, there are some other tracks I also love. Some other Lost World tracks that I view as must watches would be:
- Wonder World (the main theme song of the game)
- Windy Hill Zone Act 1 (the theme of the first stage of the game, being a whimsical grassy area that takes just a little bit from Green Hill Zone)
- Frozen Factory Zone Act 1 (another whimsical stage theme, with this one being an ice themed one that gives off heavy Christmas vibes)
- Dr. Eggman Showdown (the final boss song. Also my favorite non-vocal final boss theme)
- Bonus: Special Stage (This is specifically from the 3DS version of Sonic Lost World, as the WiiU version didn't have any Special Stages lol)
This game's OST is honestly great, and I'd love to see some more tracks pop up in more videos. Plus another really solid list this stream, great job to the chatters for suggesting more amazing songs.
I could listen to frozen factory on loop all day
Sizi mutku ettiyse ne mutlu. Bu şarkıyı bende istemiştim ve ona bayılıyorum.
@amuh4838 . Oh, for sure. That song just makes me so unreasonably happy. It could honestly just instantly flip my mood, even after a bad day.
I need the whole Sonic CD ost reaction so bad. It would be cool to see a reaction to both the JP and US ost but especially JP
The hub world night themes in Sonic Unleashed are so beautiful, and the way you described Spagonia Night was so heartfelt that I almost felt like tearing up.
I was genuinely so excited to see this in my sub box
1:42:15, that she is actually a dude. The lead singer of the band "Sleeping with Sirens" to be exact.
HUGE W to the guy who suggested Quartz Quadrant cause that music level SLAPS, the same goes for other sonic CD tracks too!
U good
It my favourite sonic song of all time (_*
most people think Kellin Quinn is a girl when they hear his voice dw lmao. he can just reach really high highs. also super hype to hear full album listens. problem is some games like shadow the hedgehog have like 100+ songs lmao
Really? That's surprising, I have heard high voices before, like Mitch from Pentatonix
One guy in the comments suggestes Knight of the Wind for OBSCURE SONGS, wow man. Fight the Knight is underrated tho
DEAD OF NIGHT
FEEL THE POWER, FEEL THE MIGHT

WILL TO SURVIVE
I LOVE FIGHT THE KNIGHT YES
"I'm with you" is very much in a similar vein to SEGA's end credits songs for Phantasy Star games, like World With Me, Hello, or the Song of Mourning. :) And they do love to match the lyrics to their characters. ('I'm with you' carries the voice of Sage at the ending of the extended story.)
Marco! You are like an adorable fuzzy bear in almost all you videos. It's a delight to watch. ❤️

So those are the actual lyrics to that part of the song...
I've always heard "Overdrive and overrun the competition! Caring about the damage when it's done!"
Which sort of encapsulated Sonic's mindset at that part of the game imo.
Overdrive and Overrun the competition - turning Super Sonic to beat the boss as fast as possible.
Caring about the damage when it's done - he can care about the collateral later, he's got more important things on his mind right now (finding Tails and making sure he's okay).
So, the lyrics for this section are:
"Don't stop, we're on a mission
Overdrive, and overrun the competition
COUNTING UP the damage when it's done"
Same general message about focusing on survival and finding Tails, but in my mind, this is also highlighting Sonic's cyber-corruption.
It's not in his nature to relish in a victory and savor the battle, but his mind is being overtaken by the cyber-corruption, which could make him more brutal and aggressive in the Super Sonic state.
I wish that was highlighted more in Sonic and Super Sonic's combat animations as the game went on.
@@cual686 according to the sonic symphony, it's "overdriving over all the competition" which was very interesting to find out considering i'd been hearing "overdrive and overrun" too
BRUH I forgot how much of a banger Sonic CD was, I used to play it and struggled so hard as a new player.
I think the Gens version of Rooftop Run is a bit better than the Unleashed version. It's very subtle but they added more instruments to it. Like they added more woodwind and violins to it. Otherwise the remix is really faithful to the original.
He needs to do an entire video of just the Sonic Unleashed soundtrack
Marco has to cover the music of sonic 3d blast, the genesis have the best in the entire era and saturn versions are more
sonic R alike songs because they are composed by the same person!
100% thise tracks need to be heard!
On one hand, it’s pretty cool to see if somebody come in without context and hear these tracks for what they are, but in the case of something like Solaris Phase 2, I think a lot of the impact is lost not having heard the main theme of the game His World played throughout your entire journey leaning up to that point.
Yeah, it's baffling how they recommended the final boss theme instead of the main theme. It doesn't hit the same.
To be honest I wish we had a whole stream for Touhou music it would be awesome
Oooh, we might finally get some stage themes with that.
It can be done
@@MarcoMeatball oh please do it, ZUN is an insane composer, although his style makes his songs recognizable but a bit samey, they are bops beyond this world (in same vibes, im just gonna throw Dimrain47 here for some NewGrounds godtier music and my childhood)
@@MarcoMeatball
I don’t know if this is the place for it or not, but if you do end up doing a Touhou stream, the songs Electric Heritage and Idolatrize World are meant to go together and they’re amazing when listened to back-to-back.
Surprised not one of the Michael Jackson tracks got suggested so far. This selection is awesome though.
I'm with you vocal is amazing, and has great vibes. But in my opinion, it doesn't top the opinion, it might not have beautiful vocals but it has a GORGEOUS INSTRUMENTAL
Solaris Phase 2 is such a banger. Sonic 06 is a gem of a game. Idc about the weird plot points and abundant glitches.

I like how “I’m in with you” is literally just sage singing
The Sonic R OST is engraved in my brain, forever. It's easily one of my favorite soundtracks of all time.
its so wholesome watching him read the comments after dropping mad knowledge
i'm surprised no one has mentioned dreams of an absolution, unless i'm the only person that likes it but i think you should check it out if you can
Here’s the thing about Sonic soundtracks.
I’m surprised there was not a single sonic rush or sonic rush adventure songs
Still no E-102 themes...this makes me the sad
Next one you need to do is
E.G.G.M.A.N. from Sonic Adventure 2.
Easily one of the best
If you like the drums in the Secret Rings OST, go and listen to Unawakening Float and No way Through. The percussion is phenomenal in these songs.
Sonic music really has a way of melting away the woes of the day, huh?
I hope someone suggests "Im Here" (evisited) eventually cause of how good it is
Oh dang, he didn't get Larry, he got _leery!_ Always got that one wrong! =D
A Ghost's Pumpkin Soup is apparently the first Sonic song Tomoya Ohtani ever composed! ^^
Even if Lost World isn't that good it's only worth playing it for the OST alone. Its REALLY good
I got my masters in theatre, so I understand getting performance jitters. Though once I was up there performing, it all went away.
I love Sea Bottom Segue so much in how it's probably the best song from Lost World and its used in the most random level(s, there's two of them).
I love Sonic music but Ohtani's tracks are probably the peak for me personally. Unleashed's soundtrack is GOAT.
Chances are that some of your favourite Unleashed tracks aren't from Ohtani-san! =P
@@Flamestar320
The soundtrack has 91 tracks, out of those Ohtani-san only (partly or fully) created 16, which is still quite a few, and all are good, but it's not close to the majority!
I missed the reaction to pumpkin hill 😂
In the stream you said something about reacting to full sonic osts after listening to the symphony, if so I can’t wait for you to see Sonic Cd JP, it’s my all time favourite
No one comes out the same way they came in when listening to Pumpkin Hill. (I also have extreme nostalgic fondness for number 1, cause Sonic R is kinda hard for a lil kid so finally hearing that music after grinding at it for so long, feel so cathartic)
I can’t wait til he hears Door into Summer from Generations
52:17 bro, why is this so good, i'm gonna cry 😭
"I am all... of me" definitely gotta do it next plssssssssssss
Marco needs to listen to the whole Sonic CD soundtrack, top 1 album.
I didn't skip the stream starting screen 'cause of the music, sonic is amazing.
YES AQUARIUM PARK!!! you should try act 2 one day or another is not very different but totally different at the same time
You should listen to the generations remake of rooftop run
If you really want a deep cut song you'll never hear someone mention, try "The Palace That Was Found" from Sonic and the Secret Rings. It's overshadowed by 7 Rings In Hand to many so you wont see many mention it.
Hi, Marco. Have you ever checked out Banjo-Kazooie's OST. It's really interesting, specially as each level has a few variations related to the place in the level, e.g., you hear one version when you enter the level, but if you go underwater, the music changes instrumentation, keeping up with the main theme of the piece
Wow, that's a really GOATED selection. 😍
Also big thanks to the timestamp people, my eyes literally sparkled bright seeing what is to come.
And sometimes you like grating songs! lol
Hope he gets to listen some of the nostalgic obscured songs like sonic mega collection - extras menu , sonic CD- sonic boom, mystic ruins, Savannah citadel, etc. the underrated ones that no one talks about
Fun fact mark, sonic colors' beat/percussion is based on sonic's running rhythm.
I think it would be nice to react to the theme songs of different Sonic characters please! Love your content 🙏🏾
Since you talked about manga at the end, I really recommend Blue Exorcist. It's one of the cases where the manga is way better than the anime
I was ONE MINUTE late???

Opening of a Strange Little Story - Beyond the Boundary (Kyoukai no Kanata) (The general soundtrack from the show/series also has some other nice tracks)
The Tragedy - Helck (Anime)
Azudra - Helck (Anime)

The Marsh Where Migrant Birds Gather (Port Town) - Wild Arms (Video Game)
Icule Lake (Area) - Toram Online BGM (Video Game)
Rakau Plains (Area) - Toram Online BGM (Video Game)
I feel like there was something else very specific, but it slipped my mind. (I'm pretty sure it was from a video game)

That game might have some others you would appreciate (Stygian, Temple, Tutorial, Title) but the ones above are some of my favorites.
A lot of the tracks from Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness are surprisingly good, but it definitely wasn't that.
Heat Up! - Running High (PS1) (Video Game, also not what I was originally thinking of.)
Genesis Beyond the Beginning - Ys Origins (Video Game) (Sorry, I couldn't stop, the Ys games in general have so so much more as well)
Wood Carving Partita - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Video Game)

You gotta play sonic unleashed for more music like that
