This is the last movement of Beethoven's 9th and final symphony before his death. It's undeniably one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. Beethoven wrote this completely deaf. When the 9th debuted on the 7th of may 1824 Beethoven stood behind the actual conductor, conducting himself, and the orchestra was instructed to ignore him. By the time the orchestra had finished, he was several bars off. At the conclusion, Beethoven had to be turned around by one of the Chorus member, Caroline Unger to see the standing ovation, and rapturous applause of the audience. He couldn't hear it. In my personal opinion this is the most amazing piece of music ever written.
I totally and utterly agree, it's the most amazing piece of music, it's amazing how many people say they don't like classical music, then someone plays a piece like this and everyone stops to appreciate it!
I'm sitting at home with tears rolling down my cheeks listening to this and experiencing this long after it was performed - found it very moving for the times we are living in now.
i am crying watching this too. so glad to know there are others that listens to music the way it is supposed to be listened to - with the soul. Classical music always affect me this way, and i am a young person. lol
If the whole world would just stop and listen to this and watch the joining of everyone...coming together in unison...sharing our universal language of music....just imagine how much better our world would and could be.

Not trying to be a jerk here I get that you’re trying to spread what you think is a positive message but chalking all of society’s problems up to power games between the rich and the poor is a dangerous ideology.
No idea why this made me cry. Theres something very touching about watching these people all coming together making music. I'm sure the little girl was in on the act but she must have been exhilarated standing there and watching them.

Thanks to my music teacher Mrs. Durban for teaching our school choir to sing and perform for our parents and local senior citizen home. Great memories!! Elizabeth, New Jersey 1968-69 Madison- Monroe Elementary School.
When Ludwig Van Beethoven premiered his Ninth Symphony in 1824, people in the theatre went crazy, shouting, clapping and tearing, but the composer couldn't hear his triumph because he was completely deaf. Ludwig Van Beethoven wrote this masterpiece in sad isolation and silence, sick and suffering, and could not hear a single note of his symphony.
But it is all about money...and when you try to change it everyone clings to their fucking money. We have this world because we choose to have this world. We did it. The best thing that could happen now is an asteroid fix the mistake.
@@cbriangilbert1978 I did not choose to do so! *I did NOT choose to be forced to pay protection money* to keep my roof (they call it property tax), or being extorted from part of my own fruits from my own labor (they call it income tax). I did not choose to forcefully pay a multitude for energy (Gasoline, etc) due to all the forced taxes. The list could go on. As long as gvmt. forced people to pay, as long "all is about money". Once the extortion stops, the society can change. Then, WE can by our own FREE WILL choose what we wish to support (eg. firefigters, peace officers, road maintenance, etc). And if we don't support it, we won't have it. This simple, as soon as there are no people willing to shoot, because they are told so, if one does not pay, what others enFORCE.
Actually, it sort of is about money... this flashmob was organized by Banc de Sabadell - thus it's right in front of their bank with the name prominently visible in most of the shots.
I just love the fact that the older people move forward and are drawn to the music as if "this is my song," and it's juxtaposed by the young people and parents who know the lyrics and are teaching their toddlers how to appreciate what they are experiencing. The greatest thing about this impromptu performance is that some random kid will go home pick up an instrument and become a great musician and insipre other kids in the future. Music is truly special and universal.
My statement does not indicate that music Belongs to anyone or anything! My statement only Is indicating that music has an effect on whomever hears It! You cannot Say that music does not cause in the listener a response, positive or negative or even Natural. Even no reason in itself Is a reaction to the sound as indifference Is a human "response"!
As it should in every aspect of life. I grew up in a small agricultural community where everyone was an immigrant. Every class in my little three room school house had students who spoke different languages at home, ate different kinds of food, and went to different churches, but we loved and respected one another and even rejoiced in our differences. We were in an inclusive community. If there were those who tried to exclude others in my community, I was oblivious to it as a child. That was a lovely way to live.
@Nv Johansson actually yes I have but my take Is that any call to prayer Is not colored by human skin tones. Prayer transcends all earthly thing especially the nature of man which was created by a Sacred Holy Being by anyother name! Call Him whatever you Will It Is all the same to HIM!
That's rights some may Indeed sound or even represent violence! But is It possible that one very simple, possibly unifying, non threatening observation about what could possibly represent all that Is good in the world be contested only for the sole purpose of creating tension and ill Will! I guess not! You must lead one depressed, sad existence to jump on such a benign statement as mine! You really need to get a Freakin' Life! There! Is that the rude and violent response you were looking (trolling) for? Go put on some really good classical piece and chill baby girl!
I still think this is one of the best, if not the absolute best, ‘flash mob’ video on the ‘net. I play it constantly, and it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time!
Perry Hampson Flashmobs don’t have full camera crews. This is a staged production all the way down to the little girl. The music you hear was added in post production. In other words it is a short film complete with actors.
There is a Chance 1957, that Rusty and Jim don't approve of the composition of the exquisite piece of art that we have viewed. That shows the interaction with the crowd. Especially the aw and amazement of the children, and Their Delight with the conductor. When I see their joy and dancing to the Beautiful music it gives me goosebumps. Please give it a rest Perfectionists. We love the Goosebumps we get when we see the expression on the Children's face's . But I think you do live in the US so you have the enalienable rights to your opinion . Ain't Freedom Great!
On a global scale it is probably stupid and incompatible ideas. Mostly due to religions, but not only. In homogeneous societies it is stuff like jealousy, sex, differences in intelligence and wealth. I think.

Brings me chills! Very well done!
As a musician for me the best part of this is the kids. Very few things bring a smile to the face of musicians the way sharing the joy of performing music with a child does.....
You never know who you will inspire as well as bringing joy. I especially loved the young girl in red who climbed the light post to watch...conducting.
Some little ones are conducting! So awesome! Maybe some day they will be doing just that! I have a 3 year old grandson who loves music! He dances to the tune of my phone ring
what makes me so happy about this video, is that i know for some people in the crowd, this is the first and only time they will get to experience a live orchestra. I remeber the first time i heard a live orchestra, i was mind blown.

As a musician, this was was very touching. I drowned in my tears! Music has the power to save the world from anything. It really brings everyone together!
I would tell that to those using plastic, chopping down trees, driving cars, not recycling etc, supporting rich and powerful whilst turning a blind eye? Etc... They all like music? So it must be saving the world? Nothing worse than blind faith that's unrealistic. Music doesn't change people. People change people.
Just found this video today- trying to get away from watching the violence and death going on in Ukraine….the beautiful sound of the music and seeing people coming together- and then reading this music had to do with joy…..I truly hope more people find this little video and experience a bit of hope and joy for an uncertain future…🙏🏻❤️

I though so when I heard it for the first time at 7, when I saw it live for the first time in New York, at 17, saw it in Jerusalem at 24, all the way to this moment, watching it late at night at age 62, with a plague still ravaging too much of the world.
In my personal opinion this is the most amazing piece of music ever written.
thanks for the insight
Thank you for sharing. Great info! Superb Performance!!
If music was to ever be banned, this is the last piece of music I would want to hear.
I totally and utterly agree, it's the most amazing piece of music, it's amazing how many people say they don't like classical music, then someone plays a piece like this and everyone stops to appreciate it!

This is the kind of thing that makes me love Europe!
In his amazing mind, he could hear it, don’t you think?
Some one turned him around to see what was going on and he started to cry, tears of joy
He heard every note perfectly in his head.
Wrong !!…… he had every single note in his mind and he knew exactly how it sounded!!! AMAZING
One century later Europe is deaf, sick and suffering.
How much richer is life, when it is not all about money?
And they didn't start till they got money
Bet those instruments weren’t free.. money is king 🤴
Every single person walked away happier and more uplifted than when they came, wonderful moment
I just love the fact that the older people move forward and are drawn to the music as if "this is my song," and it's juxtaposed by the young people and parents who know the lyrics and are teaching their toddlers how to appreciate what they are experiencing. I hope this flash mob of incredible musicians in such a beautiful place inspired many more classical artists to come.
The power of music is undeniable, even a profoundly deaf person recognises it.

Music Is the language of Hope, Truth, solidarietà, unification and of JOY!

God willing, my friend. Remember; the night is darkest before dawn.
People talk about paintings and sculptures as great works of art, but this may be the greatest work of all.
I though so when I heard it for the first time at 7, when I saw it live for the first time in New York, at 17, saw it in Jerusalem at 24, all the way to this moment, watching it late at night at age 62, with a plague still ravaging too much of the world. There is nothing like it, if people are genuinely able to be touched by something divine, Beethoven, aging and deaf, proved he was that kind of man with this conclusion to his final symphony.
And deaf while composing this. Imagine! 🤔
