Been waiting for this ever since I didn't get picked to test the shoes in the adidas event. Recently got a pair of the 21s and really looking forward to the differences.
I just got the 22. I hated them at first, I was getting a ton of heel slip, and it felt more snug than I would like in the front. Once I took out the insole all those problems were fixed, and the boost felt way more comfortable.
Thanks for this, really couldn’t see any differences whatsoever from images of the 22 compared to 21 so this breakdown definitely shed some light on it 👍🏼
The 21s are definitely the leading ultraboost when it comes to active lifestyles! Not enough change here for me to drop the 250 yet but we'll wait and see as I have the triple white 21's so they'll get dirty in no time (even with crep cure+). Great review! From owning most ultraboost shoes I can confidently say the 21s give the most feedback from heel to toe. P.S. the 21's do have both the densest boost configuration of any boost shoe right now as well as the heaviest ultraboost (not 100% but it feels that way)
I love the new intro!!!🔥🔥🔥 This is the review I’ve been looking for since I saw the first images of the 22 version of the UB. Thanks for the hard work Hes!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I've been waiting for this video !! I knew for sure you were Going to be the first one to make it too !! LOVE THE AMAZING CONTENT !! PLEASE do the UB 22 cold.rdy .. they are sick too ❤️❤️
I'll stick to DNA versions, these and the 19s are significantly harder to put, narrower in the toebox, and more constricting on the ankle collar. The Primeknit on the OG versions are way more stretch with 0 break in
The 21's are the best sneakers i've ever worn. I don't wear anything else now. I'd love to try out the 22's later in the year but i'm good with 21's for now. I'll wait for later in the year when they add more color ways to the 22.
They also made the LEP plate softer on the UB 22 which gives it more comfort. Try flexing the front of the shoe with your hand compared to the UB 21. You'll see the UB 21 is more stiffer. Also now the UB 22 women's model is specifically made for women's feet instead of a unisex style they've been doing all along.
I don’t know that having a softer LEP plate necessarily makes it more comfortable. I prefer it stiffer, like how it is on the 20 & 21’s, vs the 1-4’s where the toe is flexible. Has less of a sinking, floppy feeling without sacrificing any comfort imo. Not to mention, I’ve never seen or heard one person mention the stiffer LEP on the 20 & 21 UB, other than running reviewers who liked it. When the 20 and 21’s came out, it was pretty much unanimous the midsole with more boost was more comfortable than all the previous models. I don’t know amigo, seems like a non-issue. I have lots of ultra cushion runners (Hoka, Nike epic react, Nike infinity react, new balance 1080, etc.) and none of them have a flexible toe.
@@speedwolf5212 Comfort is subjective. Some like it squishy (which people didn't like that the 21's went firmer). And some like a firmer supportive feel.
I've just been my first run with the 22... I've got the Made With Nature set I'm not sure if there are any minor differences? They are FANTASTIC. A major upgrade over the 21 IMO. I've had every Boost from the original Energy up. The 22 is by far the best. My favourite up to now was the 20, the 21 was uncomfortable, tight and clumsy so I nearly discarded the 22. The 22 has the comfort of the 20 at the front upper and toe area.. But FAR more secure. As a running shoe, it's a huge step up over the 20. No contest.
The tongue was a pain point for me, as it would fold down on the 21. Comfort wise cannot fault the shoe. Interested to see the comfort level on the 22.
Great advice! I've recently been hobbled with Achilles tendonitis and have traced it back to the the fact that, on my heel, the plastic molding of the 22's rub up against the spot where the Achilles attached to the bone, which caused swelling, which in turn caused a tighter fit and even more severe rubbing. Came here specifically to see if anyone else was dealing with a similar heel issue. Will definitively try your solution. Has it worked for you long term?
Is the material under the ankles still so stiff? I got rid of mine UB21 because of this material basically cutting into my ankles. I've seen on your clip that it is padded differently (higher) - is it better than UB21? Generally Nike does best job in padding (especially Invincible Run and Vomero 16), and I was hoping to see similar padding here. Also I am hugely surprised that they didn't air-padded tongue like they did in Terrex Two Ultra. Cheers. And as always thanks for great content.
3:31 thats so when the foot curves the protruding plastic does not cause any resistance on the top of the foot. 3:48 the old plastic used to wear down the lace cause tears, the new metal is smoother to protect the lace.
I like that ADIDAS is making subtle changes! Don't change what isnt broke! Also the idea of keeping things classic helps in sustainability and generally makes me think-Quality instead of quantity ! In my opinion we should consider this in USA again! Seems the world keeps making so many new over the top versions of things -Lets get back 2 the good stuff! ...Great Job ADIDAS ...Great Review my friend!
Great vid, thanks. I found the 21 collar to be way to tight to the point where it would be painful around my ankle. Anyone knows if the 22 is an improvement in that regard? From the comparison the collar section seems to have been tweaked.
I have the UB 19, 20 and bought the 21...i am a size 12 in UB but with 21 the toe area was too snug I tried to stretch it out by putting in t-shirts over night it helped me slightly but nowhere near the comfort of the 19 and 20. Even the cushioning felt less even though it has 20% more boost...I had to return the 21s hopefully they made the 22s more roomy in the toe box and they bring back the bouncy and cushiony feeling that the 20s had.
100% correct bro the new UB22 cushioning is a bit softer on the rear foot but on the forefoot it's the same mid responsiveness.. And also the 22 is a bit liter because they kinda cut down a bit on the cage..it's a lil bit thinner A big shout out to you bro..good and intresting findings there
I’m not a big fan of the new Ultraboost models. I have the 21s AND THEY ARE TOTALLY SLIPPERY! NO GRIP AT ALL compared to the 2020s and the earlier versions. I use UB 2020s for comfort and fast-paced restaurant work and the 20s are able to hold and grip extremely well on oil and water. With the 21s, i slip easily and almost got into soo many accidents.
I work at a scheels in the shoe dept. we recently got our UB22 shipment so I’ve also had a chance to try them on with my 21s. And while I do agree that the 22’s are Very slightly more squishy and comfortable, not enough to pay 180 for. If you’re in the market for UB, either wait a few months for these to go on sale, or get a 21 for 80 dollars.
I’m not entirely sure… but I think that “natural performance” tag there has something to do with Continental’s sustainability efforts in terms of rubber supply and tire production (since that rubber outsole is based off actual road-going tires).
Snag the UB21 at 50% off last week. It's a no brainer for me. Nobody in their right mind would pay 100 bucks more for an almost identical shoe with minor "improvements".

I know it is expensive but one thing i want to tell you guys u will love this after u purchase.. iam using for sprints , long runs and dynamic workout
Just can't get past the bulbous heel on the 21 or 22. Also the way the boost material actually touches the ground now, as if white boost is not hard enough to keep clean. To me the ultra boost 20 seems more stable the way it widens out towards the bottom.
Me too! They look disproportional, backside is too heavy, too much boost. I love my 19s and 20s. I prefer upper fabric of the 19 because it is more stretchy, i run in them. But the rest of 20s is nice. My fav for running was "pure boost dpr ltd" apart from stiff upper. I'd stock up if they brought them back with stretchy upper. I wear 20s for walking and i dont need any more boost than that. You're right about white boost (i only wear it in the summer) that's why most of my boosts are triple blacks.
My fav is the UB20, I hated the UB21 so I luckily got myself some stock up to keep me going until they come with a better design but I was very disappointed when the UB22 came out pretty much identical!
It may be pretty much identical looks wise, but damn the 22’s are more comfortable tahn 21’s. Also the 22 look grew on me, I didn’t like it first but i really like it rn

Didn’t pick up the 21 because I felt the front foot cushion was too thin and the heel has too much boost. U can see the major difference. The 22 looks better and had a cleaner design

I'm worried that the plastic pieces on the back ancle area will be annoying and that they cave into your upper ancle because it looks like it is angled into it. If anyone has a pair of these please let me know because I really want a pair of these but I'm currently sick and can't go out to try them.
The difference of these two is that one is 50% off and other one is not
That is the biggest difference
🤣 So True!
Where can I find a ub21 at 50% off?
And whats crazy its $10 more. For what???
Haha true but every year a new model comes out the previous is discounted heavy!
