i landed on mars in 2024! i was a complete dumbass and didnt have 100% readiness but i did it! so sad to see this series go. its what got me into mars horizons in the first place.

This was a great series, loved the game and actually inspired me to buy it myself. I think you beat my first play through in all of the milestones. My Mars landing as the ESA joint with the USA was in 2021. Maybe check out some other space games like Surviving Mars?

That was one hell of a journey! Kinda sad to see it go, but at the same time happy that you will have time to finally bring back For All Kerbalkind. I guess Beyond Kerbol will also be gone "soon", so I'm curious to see what this channel will become in the future. I know I probably wouldn't have enjoyed playing this game myself because of the minigame aspect, so thank you for showing it!

I like how you don't have to return the astronauts to Earth.
I think the mars prep is more or less required. I know moussing over the various stats in the mars readiness screen tells you what effect they have on the final mission. I know one bar just has to be filled to a point, on gives more payload reliability and crew capacity, and the last one makes the mission easier.

I keep forgetting there is a modern BSG series. I keep thinking of the old school one that used to play on Saturday morning tv here
There was one in the seventies, one in the 9-11 era, and now another reboot on the BSG (not counting that horrible spinoff with Eric Stoltz which did not go beyond the first year.)

What a long wonderful and bittersweet ending to an exceptional accomplishment it has been.
Sure, others have finished earlier than you, but not many can claim running the USSR, and dominating as well as you did on their first play-through.
And I found your narration comforting and real, and look forward to seeing whatever you broadcast next (besides KSP ofc.)

BSG is great and its not overrated
you mentioned landing on mars in FAK, and I was curious... if that series reaches 1991 will you swap to being Russia? or will you lean into the Alternate History and stay the soviets?
in the game witch he is playing, mars horizon, you automaticaly change from URSS to russia
I think they missed a trick with drift. I think payloads ought to have a hidden stability trait that means that the random drift either moves the craft closer to 0 drift if stable or away from it if unstable.

I agree with your BSG take, it starts out as cool fun sci-fi, and descends into interpersonal drama and religious nonsense that's completely disconnected from the earlier stuff.
