This is the BEST review of the Cannon i have seen. Full of useful real world info that owners and people looking to buy will find really helpful. Thanks
First off. I own mine since January 2021. Secondly, it's not a Ranger rip off at all. If it is rip off of anything, it is the Hilux. Park it between the 3 and you will see it doesn't look like anything. Cars need to look similar to a degree to fit in a category.
Good job on this review. Very clear voice without too much background noise or music. We are looking at testing one soon. My gripes are the Left Hand Indicator Switch, Lane Departure function and the little 2.0L. Can't have everything I guess for that money.
You don’t need to have your foot on the brake to engage manual mode. You just click it back either stand still or on the move and it will go into manual mode. Also if your driving just tap the paddle shift and it will go to manual mode also
@@headsoftech you will love your care mate. Mine has 58000kms on it now and I’ve owned it since March 2021 it’s been brilliant and nothing is broken on it. I have 3 boys who love to break things and they have not managed to internally lol
I took my middle rear head rest out, way better view. Plus the first thing I usually do when getting in is turn lane assist off. I got so sick of the lane departure notifications always coming up every 10 seconds and not being able to see my digital speedometer. Also if you wanna quickly move the car out the driveway etc, and get sick of it asking to put your seatbelt on, just press the handbreak button down and the car is then free to drive with no seatbelt.
I own a Cannon X with 30000kms. I have been a supporter of the brand for the most part… I went to the dealer Autostrada in Western Australia, for a service and had them look at a minor warranty issue for a delaminating park brake button, along with recalling for the headrests to be replaced. This work was booked in over a month prior to the service date. It’s been over a year and when going to book my 30000kms service I enquired again as the the park brake and it turn out that even though the dealer told me it was warranty and would be replaced they had not even ordered the part and not submitted a warranty claim to GWM/HAVAL. Not only this they did not replace the recall item on the headrests. When I approached GWM/HAVAL HQ I was told it’s my problem and they have nothing to do with it. So basically, your on your own. Ok so you might think this is a dealer/service department issue but can you imagine if this was a larger warranty issue and this was the support you expect to receive. I was going to look at a new vehicle next year and I can be sure GWM/HAVAL are off the list. Warranty support is critical to me and this seals the deal. Thanks for no support GWM/HAVAL, if warranty is important to you seriously consider other brands, as GWM/HAVAL do not provide customer support.
We just bought a cannon x. It’s a good car. The DPF stuff is kinda of annoying especially it seems to happen every full refuel. It happened to us twice in the month where it went to the limp mode where manual burn is needed.
Yeah, it's challenging that it doesn't give you at least a heads up on which cycle its on to avoid limp mode. But one burn every full refuel sounds good to me, I once filled up at Costco and mine was DPFing all over - bad fuel. If it gets worse you can always try that Penrite DPF cleaner stuff, I used it once and it seemed to work well.
Yeah still running great and very happy with it. It's at about 15km now, first service was very professional. Only issues over the year have been: 1. Spring in seat - fixed under warranty. 2. Dead battery after thunderstorm - replaced under warranty. 3. Two manual dpf burns - if you don't let it finish 3 auto burns, it forces you to do a manual burn, would be great if there was an indicator on which auto burn you're on, I think you can get a scanner to help, will investigate. 4. Neighbour scraped my car - touched it up myself for now, but couldn't get the official touch up paint from the stores as the car was too new, so just got a close colour match. I'll try to do an update video soon.
Oh well, perhaps all GWM owners should 'trade-up' before they hit 50k kms to a dual-cab made in Thailand as they are (more) better. Excuse the poor grammar.
Yeh mate if you do a lot of short trips in the car without giving time for the DPF to burn off any excess, it’ll give you three warnings for you to take it for a longer drive on a highway to clear it. If you don’t it’ll then ask you to do a manual DPF burn which takes 20 min and just idols the car at about 2000 revs. It’s not really an issue per say it’s just a good way to accommodate for people who do lots of small trips and may not get the chance to do extended highway stints. If you check out the video here the bloke shows you how to activate the Manual DPF burn (also in the manual) it’s weird dealers don’t talk to customers about it but they also may not know. ruclips.net/video/oVN9fT0tlo8/видео.html
you can do whatever you want, just be aware that 4x4 loads up the drivetrain when turning. On dirt- your wheel slips. On tarmac- your transfer case "can" self destruct.
Utes aren't popular in China at all because they are classed as trucks which means there are a lot of restrictions on when and where you could go in the cities.
@@zwen3763 yep, you can only drive your Ute for 15 yrs the government forces u to dispose your ute and also utes cannot get into any CBD in main cities😂
I can tell you exactly why because I lived there and shopped for a car. Utes are classified as trucks for commercial use, thus it’s charged a commercial operation tax, and many cities don’t allow it to enter in the daytime because of the open boot. The reasoning was it may litter and make the city dirty. Things have changed recently.
I wouldn't even consider this Chinese junk l think these are scraping the bottom of the barrel and the engine is crap it is unrefined noisy gutless and uses 2 much fuel compared to other more powerful Ute's 😁

Was here for the review for the ute but staying for the content. Good work bud 👍🏽 👏
so many free tech and options in this car, very good value.
Just bumped into your review. This is an excellent honest owner review. The on demand 4WD is a great idea. 👍

Amazing briefing, thanks , I have the 2022 and every wonder, in the city, coast, the Andes and the jungle, this 4x4 Bucky is a true sexy beast.
Good on you mate you go into great detail about the car i just purchase one 2022 love it good price lots of features
Yeah it's been great mate, team Cannon 👍
Great video guys, the car seems really good.
Yeah it's been great so far, so useful for picking up goods too. What do you drive?
@@headsoftech a grand cherokee, and yes that's exactly what i liked the most, the big pick up space.
Beast of the SUV, I was looking at them over here, but for some reason it's been discontinued for the hearse looking Grand Cherokee L model.
Thanks for your helpful video on the GWM Cannon ute x - the info is useful to me.
Awesome video just ordered mine today... You definitely sold me on the sale. 🙂
Congrats mate, let me know how you get on with it
Fuck yeah picking mine up in 3 days
I want to buy one if this GWC Cannon,it's 🐻 beautiful and the performance is good
I love your new car congratulations 👍👍👍👏👏👏
good review thank you, was that southland
Great review
This is a good review, but we all hate the DPF TECHNOLOGY.
I had my 2nd DPF burn recently at around 4km, took 5 minutes... I was surprised 🤞 for the next one.
GOOD REVIEW...
Hey @headsoftech Can you please give an update after owning this beast for almost a year ?

3:50 sorry, just can't over that bum. Love the bakkie though. This is my favourite one.
14:37 🤣🤣🤣
Great review.... Thanks
Wow, nice! Plenty of bang for the buck...
What model is this?
Just wondering how tall you are? As I am 6foot 4 (mostly legs) and am wondering if I would fit into the drivers seat
Thank you
I am 6f 4 I have to move the seat forward. I can also fit in the back.
Just get a slimline sub with amp, $249 and 3 hours to install = easy audio fix.
Just purchased a 2024 Cannon L
Congrats mate
His going to be devastated when stuff stops working after 50k km

Bunnings need to pay you.
Get a tune and put an I-Drive on it and it would be great.
Sports mode is great if you need extra kick, no need for an idrive.
You must be used low performance 😄

I agree for white, chrome works a lot better, but black trim works well for the other colours.

You are allowed to drive a 4wd on the roads. What state are you in that you cannot drive a 4wd on the roads?

Pretty fucked up when it’s a crap shoot as to whether a Ford or Chinese vehicle will last in the long run
Too cheap n too good for aus
