I used to have so much respect for Sinema. She was my representative when I was in high school and she was the one who gave me my nomination to go to West Point and I got to talk to her extensively about her beliefs and policies. I was proud to have a more liberal representative in such a conservative state, not to mention the first LGBT rep in that state. Her behavior now spits in the face of everything she told me. It’s really true you either die (retire) a hero or live (work) long enough to see yourself become the villain.

Trevor is an over-achiever who is always on point and pointed. Love it!
My mom's former school teacher whose also our family friend has polio. The polio vaccine wasn't widely available in my country when that teacher was a kid so she had to live with polio for almost her entire life. It baffles and makes me sad that people would choose not to take a vaccine when there are still individuals who wished they could have gotten the vaccine are still alive today.
When the vaccine for Covid became available, my mom reminded me of a situation that took place when I was in junior high (the late 1970s). During my 7th and 8th grade years, I often would mow the lawns of a woman who lived a few houses up from us. This woman needed the use of a wheelchair and, as a youngster, I never inquired as to why. When my mom refreshed my memory of this time, she said our neighbor was one of the last individuals in America to develop polio before the vaccine became available. How different would her life have been had the vaccine been available to the public a few months earlier? Unfortunately, most Americans are health illiterate and don't recognize how valuable vaccines are in preventing a whole host of terrible, terrible diseases.

I do know of some older aunts and uncles in my family who had shingles (Silent Generation). Considering the vax came out in the 1988 and not available in the USA until the 1995, it is more like you never heard of it until later and you are a young millennial or gen Z. It isn’t very common, my family is just pretty unlucky.
You are more protected from shingles with the vax. However, having chicken pox as an adult is far more severe than as a kid. If you have had chicken pox, the virus lays dormant after your body clears it until you are older (weakening immune system) and it can spring back to ‘life’ and cause shingles.

My grandfather’s uncle had polio. He was in a wheel chair all but a few years of his early life. My mother had whooping cough and rubella as a toddler. Part of her brain was damaged, she had to relearn everything again. Luckily, she was young that she didn’t have any cognitive issues. It really does make a difference when you see someone who actually suffered from the diseases. The vaccines are always safer for 99% of people.

The 'changing New Zealand to Aotearoa" comes up every few years, it never goes anywhere which is a bit of a shame as I like the name a lot more, it means '"long white cloud" (often said as 'land of the long white cloud') which is reference to the fact we get crazy cloud patterns due to the mountain range stretching across the entire south island. Everyone I know from overseas is shocked by how fast moving and how constant our cloud cover is

But seriously, my mom remembers lining up to get the polio vaccine in school. People were so glad to be able to protect their kids from such a scary disease.
I had 2 friends that had Polio back in the 50's and our school passed around "March-of-Dimes" cards to fill up with dimes and turn in to go toward the Polio research being done, Not only did I get the vaccine as soon as it was available, I've always been proud of being part of the generation that helped it be developed. On my first trip to San Diego, I went to the Salk Institute and was so proud of what we accomplished with our little cards of dimes. Made sure all my Great Grandchildren got the vaccine also!

Calling the HBO merger Discovery+ is like calling The Avengers; Hawkeye and friends
because of the greatness of HBO :D. They made Rom, Deadwood, GoT, The Wire, Westworld, Sopranos and by doing so earned a very special space in my heart.
@binomalia idk man, some reality tv can be kinda fun. my favourite right now is the secret of skinwalker ranch. it's a pretty fun (comedy) horror mockumentary series. the comedy is probably unintentional but it works. the characters are fun although they should have written more female characters into the show. the main protagonist has a great accent. there are some plot holes and the directing could be better but it's not too distracting.
So what happens to my life long Hbo Max membership for 6 bucks a month ? They probably have some technical excuse to beef it up to 15 bucks.
