Hi! I asked Dharma co. To please give you credit when I bought from them the first time today. I clicked the link but my computer might have messed up and I opened another window but I insisted and they knew who you are! I use to dye yarn two decades ago and haven’t knitted socks in 8 yrs until just now. My father who raised me just died and I felt the pull that this would be good for me. I want to thank you for bringing your happy, joyful and real self in your videos! It is so nice to hear your joy! You are the kind of person I would have in real life as a friend. Blessings Darlene
I'm excited to see your rigid heddle weaving adventures! I have been so inspired by your dyeing videos and I now dye all my wool warps and much of my weft. I started my own channel where I show how I dye warps and weave them up, and it's all due to you and your inspiring videos. Thank you, Rebecca!
I'm hoping to take some time to set it up when the kids have breaks (which of course don't line up! not that we're going anywhere anyway but it is still a thing.)
You can absolutely mix the colors (not so much for speckles, although you can kind of do that) but I do wish there was a bright blue in the line to have as a primary so they you could really mix most colors after that.
In terms of using different yarn weights on your rigid heddle loom, I would recommend the thicker yarn as the warp. I find it makes a nicer fabric, and you should be able to still see warp and weft. If you use the thinner yarn as warp, you're much more likely to lose it in the weaving process.
@@ChemKnitsTutorials I taught myself rigid heddle loom weaving over the last year, and I found I learnt best by just trying things out. Lots of useful information online, but my favourite things were made with yarn that 'should' be too thin or too thick for a certain heddle. As long as the heddle won't shred the yarn, the yarn moves freely, and you find the right balance in beating your weft, you'll get something to make you smile.
No - I didn't change the saturation for any colors in editing. The River Blue is very different from the Coral Reef Aqua and Amazon Green, but the Coral Reef Aqua and Amazon Green are super close to each other in speckle form. The colors are absolutely different (as shown here ruclips.net/video/OFk2OezS-E4/видео.html when using them with crude swatches) but as for the speckles, they were pretty close. Dry they weren't identical, but when the yarn was wet I really struggled to tell which was which on the yarn.
You know, I think looking at it in editing, I can see the difference a bit better when I'm "closer" to the yarn than when I was standing up behind the camera.
This yarn turned out great! Did the purple split a little bit? I thought I could see multiple colors in those speckles. And congrats on getting a rigid heddle loom! More fiber fun in your future ❤️
@@ChemKnitsTutorials I don't know if you're on Craftsy, but they have a couple of classes about RH weaving. Unfortunately, my LYS was closed yesterday, so swinging by after classes today!
@@lgassin I'm in a RH loom facebook group so I've been seeing people post tips and things for a few years now. :D But I don't know what I'm doing. (I had some time over Christmas break to try to start but I didn't have any shuttles so I had to wait for those to come in and then things got busy again.)
Versus immersion dyeing? no not really. I find that with speckling you end up using a lot less dye because there is usually a lot of background uncovered. But it truly depends on the colorway you're doing.
🙋🏽♀️ Hi Rebekah, I'm a newbie to dying yarn and I love this speckled look, 🤔 do you think I could achieve this with koolaid since it will be my first time? 🤷🏽♀️Any suggestions for me I would be most appreciative please and thank you.

I don't have a Dharma affiliate link - but I appreciate the thought.

Congratulations on your new loom. Weaving is wonderful to do and a great extension for what you are doing.
Thank you so much! I'm super excited to give it a try this Spring.
I love speckles, for some reason it makes me happy 😊
Thank you, Patti!
You had me at "greener".
I wish there was a better green in this set!
Yeah, Weaver Rebecca! This is exciting!
Maybe try this dye with the Dye-lishious cotton?
I plan to try speckles and other techniques at some point. I have another dyelishus video coming out on Friday.

Oh thank you! I have two different heddles so I have to figure out what yarn to use. :D

Would you ever dip dye the background?
That would be stunning! I'm not sure if I have.... but I'm going to write this down.
Always a great podcast
Glad you think so! Thank you!
As always! Beautiful!
Oh thank you!
@@ChemKnitsTutorials You are always welcome. I always look forward to your tutorials
Green is my color 😍 💚
I wish it was a bit GREENER ;)
This is beautiful 🤩 I want to knit a crop top with speckled yarn and this video relly inspired me!
thanks for your content
You’re welcome 😊
Did you enhance the saturation for the video for the blue and the green? Because to me they are starkly different.

Yes - I think there are multiple pigments in the purple and it breaks. (I think that I saw this in the original review if I didn't point it out here.)
Can't wait to hear about your rigid heddle adventures! I have today off work, and one of the to-do list items is to stop by LYS and order one!
I'm super excited! And nervous about starting a new craft - lol.

The first speckled yarn I ever did was with kool aid powder, it works like a charm.
@@kimcongdon3652 thank you!
Yes! You can absolutely speckle with KoolAid - i have a few videos on that in the KoolAid playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLFvm3Bz7dhaWbaCRR1LayaYliLlAd1kra
Looks pretty easy! From a non dyer...
It is very easy! (just make sure you have safety equipment and dedicated dye pans and tools.)
