  • Join us on a whirlwind journey in rural Alaska as we embark on a much-anticipated resupply mission to the new Costco business center. Setting out from our homestead, we hit the road in search of essential supplies for the next six months.
    At Costco, we navigate the aisles with excitement, discovering a treasure trove of great finds and stocking up on everything from pantry staples to household essentials. After a successful shopping spree, we refuel with a satisfying lunch before heading home to unload our bounty.
    But the adventure doesn't end there! Eager to explore further, we make a stop at the trading outpost in a nearby town, immersing ourselves in the vibrant local community and uncovering a variety of items and prices in the stores.
    Join us as we experience the thrill of rural Alaska living, from Costco shopping extravaganzas to quaint trading outpost excursions. It's a day filled with discovery, adventure, and the joy of stocking up for the months ahead.

    I wonder what the old folks did, in Alaska, before Starlink, Amazon delivery, and CostCo? Alaska is changing quickly and I am sure glad we get to experience the old way of life before it is gone.

    I have been to Costco a couple of times......in Texas the price difference between Costco and a regular store is not that much ( buying in bulk).
    A fun day seeing you on a haul though!

    With the box of lemons you could pickle the lemon skins for a side dish...and juice lemon juice in ice blocks...or you could pickle the whole lemons aswell the Italians do it...❤❤❤

    You do realize you can make your own yoghurt far cheaper than anyone sells it for, you can add your own fruit when you want to and how much you want, with no preservatives at all. Personally, I find it very interesting watching videos about shopping from off grid people, homesteaders, living in very cold winter areas etc etc and what they seem to prioritize in their shopping for their next 6 months or so.

    So you will spend 40 dollars on lemons but won't spend 7 dollars on berries for the kids??

    • @juhanuutinen1696

      why lemons, i dont understand?

    • @LifeinAlaska
      @LifeinAlaska  7 месяцев назад

      Only because every time we get berries from Costco they never ripen, and half go moldy in a day. The lemons we get for the juice to freeze or can, that way we have a good vitamin source during the year too.
