Magnolia Bakery was my family's Bakery, my cousin is the former owner and was the owner at the time, Lisa Salvatore. I worked at it during the times and after they filmed around there. Was great fun, and Sarah Jessica, and the girls where great to talk to and hang out with during their filming scenes. Was a great place to work and a great family business. I miss the cupcakes.

You didn't mention the Brooklin Bridge! In my opinion it's probably the film's most romantic moment when Miranda and Steve meet on the Brooklyn Bridge. I went to NYC last summer, and I just love it!

EXACTLY!!!!! Oh my gosh! That was so annoying! I always get sucked into these countdowns (just like if I start watching SATC lol) I was SURE #1 was going to be the Coffee Shop! That is SO absurd. That is the central location of the show! Who the heck cares about Scout?! Omgosh! Also, this is off topic but why don't they have a countdown for reasons Charlotte was great? I identify a lot with her(except for the breeding ) but in personality, and in never losing hope in finding love. She was the anti-cynic. They seem to be so in love with Miranda's cynicism and the fact that she was financially successful and loved her job(so did Samantha by the way!) I think Miranda was really great but not a faultless character, of course. I don't think these ladies are die hard fans sometimes with some of the things they mention. Some of it is true, and it is entertaining, but they also judge the show that they claim to love. For example, they often point out conversations and scenes that would 'never be acceptable today' ---the show stretched HUGE boundaries when it came to being single and not settling in your 30ths, sex of course--but they judge the characters as being narrow minded. How much do you want? They keep saying 'well it was the 90's- later 90's when the show started...) I think most of them(no offense if you were born in the 90's-maturity depends on the person) but things were indeed very different. The point of the show was for it not to be PC, yet they specifically pick out points where it isn't politically correct. I was a senior in high school/freshman in college when the show first aired, and not that many people had HBO at that time. I started watching in Season 3 and then watched all of the other episodes.
That place was one of the very few that was a set. Not a real place.
No it was not always a set. One of the place le called PASTIS in the meatpacking district. I know it because it is owned by French people.
@@Maya220100 yeah but they are talking about the one that the girls consistently met at not just the occasional brunch spots. The most often spot was a set which makes since. They can’t just constantly shut the same spot down for production. NY would have started to loathe them.
Thank you. Sex and the City was one of those shows I experienced along with the characters. Not in a mirrored life, just by investing in them. By how the series seeps inside a person. So thank you for this tour of memories.

The plaza hotel interior looks like charlotte's park ave apartment, after she got married.

lifeoadorer well aware. I travel there for business and for personal travel for shopping. I have lots of friends who have moved and lived there for work. I’ve visited too many times to count since 1994.
I am glad you had that experience:) But traveling isn't residing;) I was talking from a resident perspective:) I have to say it's a best city in a world, because of diversity not movies:) And those places are just... places. In the rhythm of life that NYC triggers you stop seeing that as something special. Maybe that's good that at least in movies it make me feel special, because I live there:)
The original intent of this comment was related to the topic of this video, is SATC fans who may enjoy the nostalgia of a show and the bus tour takes you through this journey. I personally never desired to live in NYC until I was at point in my life I could purchase property in Manhattan and lead a comfortable lifestyle knowing how expensive it is. Speaking as someone who already lives in an area of the US that also has a high cost of living. My next move will be NYC or an international job transfer abroad. But not because what’s been hyped on TV, but because NYC would be an experience to live there.
Omg I used to work in sushi samba on Park Ave and we used to be one of the stops on the bus tour. Imagine a bus full of women all getting Cosmopolitans...
You guys forgot the Buddakan where Big and Carrie celebrated their rehearsal dinner. It’s a great place in the meatpacking district and worth a visit.
I’ve been to NYC so many times but so far I’ve only been to Carrie’s apartment, the plaza and Columbus Circle! Will add all the others to my next trip!

Gia Elie omg so true! I wish I could send you a picture of the royal blue Badgley Mischka I just purchased from Saks Fifth Avenue. They look just like the royal blue Manolo blahniks that carry wore in Sex and the City the movie The First One, and they have that big brooch on the front of them where the toe is. But instead of them being a pump it's a a peep toe they are amazing!!

Manolos go on sale often. Especially if you can get to Maison Manolo in NYC. You can buy them “used” to but have never been worn on certain sites. Nothing compares. Manolos are truly a work of art. I’m wearing them while I still can. They are not made for wide feet.

I just loved Miranda and Steve as a couple. They seemed so genuine and down to earth. A perfect match. What writers did to them in And just like that is a dispicable thing.

Took tour years ago & caught them filming a dinner scene @ Da Silvano's. The director left 0 to chance on either side of the street.

Haha I remember visiting all these places in NYC, at Perry Street I was amazed to find a whole bunch of SATC fans taking photos outside. They even chained the front of the steps so you cant take photos on it haha. One guy looked out his window and shouted at us, hey go home they didn’t film any Sex and the City here! I feel bad for the people who live there, but you cant stop a Carrie fan from enjoying a slice of SATC ❤️
There is an actual tour for sex and city. I live in new york I've never done it but tourist seem to like it alot
Perry st. is so chic! Went there to see these famous footsteps and along the way are bars and restaurants of all sorts! I love NYC!

66 perry street makes sense:the magnolia bakery is Also near by. I visited New York for 2 days and didn't have time to go lower manhattan, it is also too far from central park to just walk. But saw everything near the park, times square, 5th avenue and broadway. Also the loab's boathouse ;) but on the terrace, there's a ribbon on the edge of the lake, so this was enterily a movie scene

I visited NY last time in 2019 and stopped by Carrie's apartment for the first time. The steps are protected by a thin chain and there is a sign asking people not to sit on the stairs. :D

Actually, the “rent” she could afford maybe was in the first couple episode. You know when they are all eating Chinese takeout from the restaurant downstairs looking at the models in the magazines talking about what parts they would like to change. That apartment was a typical walk-up apartment with a tiny kitchen and living room. They changed it to some bigger apartment where she can have a closet full of shoes. As to her paycheck, it is hard to tell as rumor was that writers were once paid more by the word. I was only a kid at that time, so don’t take my word. She seems like it would be impossible though to own all those different dresses and shoes and bags and eat out all the time with friends. That I have no clue. It’s super unrealistic.
She had a rent controlled apartment and money troubles.

yes magnolia's did not live up to the hype for me. There is actually an other location in midtown that we nicer. The grossest thing about magnolia is that they just put out the cupcakes for anyone to grab for themselves and take to the till. Not even so much as a sneeze guard above them - I saw lots of people licking icing off their fingers and sticking those gross fingers back into the cupcakes.

you can't hang around on the steps anymore since there's a chain with a "do not go on staircase" sign. beautiful neighborhood though.
yes there's actually quite a nice polite sign that reminds people that this is a private dwelling and to please be respectful and asks people to make a donation to an animal charity if they are going to take pictures. There is a collection box there. I thought that was cool - put a couple of bucks in there - because I did take some pictures.

I am a fan, but with limits. There are some things I just will not do, and one of them is visit all the places the SATC film crew frequented with SJP.
I got married at Brooklyn city hall and the justice of the peace showed no emotion I remember despite my clapping friends and family cheering lol

she says specifically how much money she gets from Vogue. It's quite a bit for writing one article. She doesn't make a lot of money, esp considering that she doesn't work all that much, but she makes enough to get by. Certainly she shouldn't have as much as she does, but it's not as unrealistic as people think it is.
