She wrote this at 15 when they were all at the Berklee College of Music summer program. She had a songwriting assignment due the next day, was homesick and had no ideas. This is what she came up in her time of stress/inspiration. Not too bad.
Here's what she said about this song in her own words (translated from Spanish) "With your permission, I'm going to sit down to tell you a little more about this next song. Well, this next song is very, very, very special for me because, to be honest, I struggled a bit more when I first started as a composer. I remember being in Boston-we were studying at Berklee College of Music-and we had a composition class. It was a group class where each of us had to bring a composition. We would analyze it and see what could be improved. We had the task of writing a song. I remember that one day before class, I still had absolutely nothing. I was thinking, 'What am I going to do?' It wasn't because I was lazy or had forgotten the assignment-I just hadn't found inspiration for a song. In that moment of despair, I missed my home and my friends a lot because we had been away for a long time. I also felt like nobody understood that I didn't work the same way as others when it came to composing. That's when this song, When I'm Alone, was born."
@@MarkBtvd Yep. The Warning released all of last year's Pepsi Center concert individually & the released the whole show a la Teatro Metropolitan a couple of months ago.
I know she's the quiet and shy type (at least most of the time) but I want a song just for her on the next album so she can express herself like this live.
You cannot help but Love the girls from The Warning. That was very special, the original is not acoustic so check out another video of this song when you can, especially LIVE
Dany is a person with an incomparable charisma, he leaves everything behind his guitar and his microphone... he is not afraid to express how he feels and lives each song, his way of singing is simply magical. One of the memorable moments of that night at his 10th anniversary concert.
The only thing this beautiful acoustic version is missing, is Dany's amazing solo in the original version. Her smile, and little head shake, she can't believe her eyes, or ears. Better believe it Dany, you really are that loved. When she said "you are not alone, you've got me, you've got my sisters" was when I realized that the reasons to love these people are getting way too many to count, at this point. And that guitar is not just an instrument, it's a piece of art.
She is a bard. This piece and the way she performs it, it's just so 'bardic'. She's relaying information for the audience and alternately calling them to have a particular experience and contextualize it. As if their lyrics alone aren't enough! But it just warms the heart to know that one of her favorite things in the whole world is to give people a gift like that.
@@Pascal-the-Rascal To be honest, when Dany said that my eyes welled up and my heart wanted to burst. I started crying a little because that was one of the most heartfelt words I’ve ever heard. It hit me straight in the chest. She’s so beautiful all of them are and they get better and better at talking to you’re heart
This song is from their first album, XXI Century Blood, released in 2017. Dany wrote it in 2015 when she was just 15 years old. It is normally played with the full band. There are several versions of them playing this live over the years. The most recent, besides this one, was at Teatro Metropolitan in 2022. Another great version is from their 2017 TEDx talk when they were 16, 14, and 12 years old.
As you two are learning, these ladies are special. They are going to be the biggest band in the world soon. They are so deserving. Love watching yalls reactions. Keep going with The Warning. They do not have a bad song.
Very nice reaction, Dany is so amazing with this version. Please check out the Live from Teatro Metropolitan version it really Rocks. One of my favorite The Warning songs...
I’ve been waiting so long for you guys to react to this, glad someone requested it 🙏 This is one of the most beautiful performances I’ve ever seen, and her speech was just heartwarming.❤
I love your reactions to the warning!! These 3 sisters are amazing and bring people together around the world!! If you want to hear one of the songs they usually close their live shows with, you should react to "Narcisista (Live from Pepsi Center CDMX)" It's a gem!! Greetings from Mexico! /o/
5:00 i remember when TW were reacting to their Tedx performance and Dany jokingly sang like she just did at the timestamp. Great that she was finally able to 😭 Dany is a gem 💙
Thank you so much for doing my request. Are you going to see them in April when they hit London? I'm traveling from the States to see them in both Cologne and London. It would be so nice to meet you two. Plus, you'll love seeing them live. Those will be my 5th and 6th shows. Keep up the good work.
Obligatory comment for more The Warning. Even with the speech I've heard this song too many times, but the speech at the end was so powerful; It's innocent and hopeful, but it's also just extremely true: We can be there for each other. As an American let us remember that this Thanksgiving; We can even be grateful for the people we've included in our lives on their behalf as giving is truly it's own reward and sharing joy together is honestly, as someone who has though about this a lot over the years, one of the main points of living. Share your joy, and if you don't have it, find people that do and don't be bashful. Joy isn't something that gets used up by taking it. Find it and take it and in the end, when you've had your fill, remember to share it.
I went over your warning playlist and found only their newer stuff. Missing: tedx talks, live at dakota bar, live at the whiskey a go go, live at lunario, live at foro didi; they have over 550 videos available. ❤❤❤
When Dany was 8, Luis, her father, bought the Rock Band video game. While playing the game she said she wanted to be up there, on the stage playing in front people. 15 years later, here she is commanding 8k people at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City. Rock Band for real. Their next big concerts will be at the Auditorio National in Mexico City in front of 10k audiences. They have 2 sold out dates and recently added a 3rd date as the first 2 are sold out. Tickets go on pre-sale tomorrow, so hurry if you're planning to go! 😎👍
Everyone in an audience in Mexico City singing along in English! BTW... many of their Spanish speaking fans refer to this song as "Huele a Melon" (or something like that) because it sounds a lot like "When I'm Alone"... but it translates as something like "Smells like melon"
This song is actually very rocking on the album version but I think this is the version that should always be played live. It's more personal, more heartfelt. You can feel more of Dany's emotions this way.
When she says that you will always have music and her and her sisters! Oh boy, how true! I recently suffered a pretty bad right hip injury which was really debilitating. It required a lot of sitting around and I have to say at that point I came across The Warning. Wow, did it make the recovery process a lot more tolerable! Sweathearts. (Especially Dany).
I hope in the near future you will react to some of their earlier material and performances. There are so so many great ones to choose from. There are TED X performances from ‘16 and’17 and Lunario CDMX show from ‘18. It is a showcase of their second album “Queen of the Murder Scene” (a concept album) with some songs from their first album “XXI Century Blood” mixed in. So if you do that concert you should do a little research about the story and be sure to react to the QOTMS songs in order.
This isn't Wednesday.. Dany wrote this at 15 yrs. old while at Berklee College of music. She was very homesick. I think it was a class assignment to compose and write a song. 🌎✌️
You should react to their two TEDx presentations of 2016 and 2017 each is about 18 min long and start with the frist one. They talk about forming the band and the struggles along the way, they also play some covers and original material both videos are well worth it, very inspirational and are fan favorites. Thank you
The full concert video includes embedded translations so you don't have to rely on the auto-translator (although I think it worked pretty well in this case). The video is chaptered so you can pick just the song you want. You might want to do that if you do "Black Holes" from the Pepsi Center concert, but back up to timestamp 32:20 to catch Dany's intro. If you let the video play several more seconds at the end of the song you'll catch a tender moment between Paulina and the audience before she starts her intro to "Breathe".
