Hi Dr. Orobosa this video is really helpful though am still in 100 level studying health informatics but this video encourage me to chase my goal in health care field
I’ve been an EMR/EHR consultant for the past 5 years and really looking to pivot into this career path. I feel like I just need to research it more and solidify my resume. But a friend of mine definitely secured a good paying job already. Help 😫
I’m about to graduate with a masters in healthcare informatics and having a difficult time trying to get my foot in the door. I have a bachelor’s in public health as well but need to figure out which path to take to get into the field.
Hi thanks for watching. I definitely understand, I recommend you work with a recruiter to assist with securing a job. Also, try joining the American Medical Informatics Association (if possible). By becoming a member you can network with professionals in the industry who can potentially help you secure a role. All the best!
Same! It’s almost impossible to find a job in this field. Most hospitals don’t want to sponsor to go get an Epic Cert. It seems like most hospitals reserve those jobs for RN’s. The gate keeping on these positions is real! I’m really close to regretting getting this Masters Degree. I have found a job, but it’s not the right one. I’ve been here since January and so far 5 people have quit from my group (we had 11 when I started). Other applications also have very high turnover rates also.
@@ellaq4208how did you gain experience? I’m about to go into a health informatics masters degree and I’m trying to work and study at the same time! If you don’t mind me asking, how did you start?
I’m interested in both long term care and informatics… I’m in a long term care certification program now then i plan on getting a informatics certification…
From my experience of working in the nursing home, we were always collecting health data to submit to the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid. Having a certification in informatics can help you in the long term care field. All the best!
Hi Dr Orobosa...thanks for the video, it was really enlightening. Please which path in your experience do you think is suitable for a medical doctor who just completed a boot camp program in data analysis? Will be glad to hear from you
@@forhealthscholars hi Dr what about a BEd in health education and wants to master in a field in tech but still related to health Is this role suitable?
Hi @TinyfeetboutiqueLLC a post-bac certification in health informatics can be extremely beneficial. Many MBA & MHA degree holders usually acquire a post-grad certification before they transition into the informatics sector.
I am registered nurse and not a tech savvy person but interested in health informatics.Do you think I should enroll first in computer course related to computer? Thanks!
Hi..Apart from maintaining electronic files, collection and analysing of data, “Is there any other major or important role that Health informatics specialist play? ” since part of this can be easily handled by Google and almost all by AI tools in near future.

Hello! Your video was very informative! Thank you so much. I am interested in health informatics. Currently, I am in a Data analytics masters program and I was contemplating if I should change to Information technology with á concentration in health informatics. Would either degree be in my advantage?
Hi @849lovely thanks for watching & welcome to channel! I’m happy that you found this video helpful. Depending on how much of the degree requirements you completed with your current Master’s program, I wouldn’t recommend changing your major if it is going to cost you more money or lose time. There is a job position called health informatics analyst. If you have a few years of experience in the healthcare field you mostly likely can acquire a role in informatics with you data analyst degree. However if you don’t mind the burden of switching degree programs, then I would recommend you proceed in acquiring a health informatics degree. This would give a better understanding of the industry.
@@forhealthscholars thank you so much for the quick response. I have 24 years in the healthcare industry (on the business side). I don’t mind making the switch. Once again, thank you.
