  • In this EPDM roofing video tutorial, you’ll learn how to correctly join FlexiProof One Piece EPDM to other boundary materials (such as felt) using termination bars, Water Block Mastic, and Lap Edge Sealant.
Using the right tools, materials, and techniques, sheets of FlexiProof One Piece EPDM can be joined to other boundary materials to create a reliable watertight join. Follow the steps in our video and you’ll soon master this EPDM rubber roofing detail!

    Tools required:
    • Tape measure
    • Scribe
    • Spirit level
    • Sealant gun
    • Leaf blower
    Materials required:
    • Termination bar
    • Self-sealing termination bar screws
    • FlexiProof Water Block Mastic
    • Impact driver or cordless drill
    • FlexiProof Lap Edge Sealant
    • Surgical gloves
    • Glass cleaner
    Things to be aware of:
    • The prepared roof surface must be clean, dry, and free from dust and contaminants (bitumen, oil, etc).
    • When joining EPDM to asphalt or built-up roofing systems (especially if an insulation layer is installed below) extra-long screws may be required to screw into the underlying roof deck.
    • When joining to an existing felt roof with embedded stones, make sure to remove the stones to create a smooth surface to apply the Water Block Mastic to.
    • When joining to existing single-ply roofs (or EPDM) be sure to clean these surfaces with membrane cleaner.
    • Make sure to cut the EPDM membrane to a perfect square, so it lines up with the termination bar perfectly.
    • Never substitute Water Block Mastic for silicon or other types of mastics.
    • Apply the correct amount of Water Block Mastic to avoid excess squeezing out.
