How to Tie the Granny Knot

A step by step guide to tying the Granny Knot ( AKA: Calf Knot, False Knot, Garden Knot, Granary Knot, or Lubber Knot).
The Granny Knot is a weak binding knot used to secure a rope or line around an object. The Knot is inferior to the Square Knot which it loosely resembles.
When attempting to tie a Square Knot, it is easy to mistakenly produce a granny knot. This error is dangerous as the granny knot can slip when heavily loaded. A tightened granny knot will also jam and is often more difficult to untie than the Square Knot. It is better to tie a Square Knot in all circumstances. One way to distinguish them is that in the Square Knot each loop passes completely over, or completely under.
The Square Knot is commonly taught as left over right, right over left. The granny knot is the first step repeated twice, right over left, This is a very common mistake made by people learning to tie a Square Knot.

I like your knot videos! Nice and concise, you mentioned how this knot and a few of your other knots are not meant to bear a load. Maybe in the future suggest knots that would be able to sustain a load? Currently looking for a knot that will be able to tie river tubes together and will easily come undone so I won't have to keep cutting the rope.
