A very funny and engaging conversation regarding today's comic landscape, gentlemen. Thanks so much to "The Professor" Eric Breen for the shoutout, I really appreciate it, my friend. I also agree with Mr Breen's picks for reading with the new Space Ghost book. I always enjoy the discussions and respect the opinions so thank you all.

Things aren't good when everyone knows the problem but the people with the power to fix it, simply refuse to address the problem and salvage what you can.
Remember when Uncanny X-Men flew off the shelves, when your LCS would put more out because the fat wedge on the shelf had sold .. I am the only person at my LCS that buys X-Men and I don't even enjoy reading it, there are none on the shelf because no one wants it .. I nolonger preorder X-Men and when Krakoa ends its my exit point. My LCS isn't bothering with the post Krakoa line as no one is left with any interest unless its for an Epic Collection from the back catalog, those sell out. Well done Marvel, you killed the golden mutated goose.

I can't stand it when l pick up a comic and it's labeled "Season...." whatever in the cover, like it is a bad CW series. I will put a title back on the shelf and never purchase if l see that nonsense.

I have also noticed that one section of my local comic shop that seems to be growing is the area that displays those Marvel and DC reproduction comics. Even the ones with foil covers - more and more every week. Proof that people are looking back for some sort of future.

If you look purely at internet search traffic, I think the upcoming reprints are by far getting the most interest

As someone who was a fan of the original cartoon show and the Gold Key, '70s Marvel, and Comico one-shots, I was surprised I liked Space Ghost as much as I did. (I snagged the Alex Toth variant cover.) I've been reading the Chester Gould reprints over the past decade, so sadly the new Dick Tracy #1 just didn't rock my boat. But I'll yield that title to the new audience enjoying it.

I don't think that showing data hurts anything (or most things) because people are going to read what they want to read, but there are those who love data (like me) and want to see the numbers, and for some it may bring them into comics, or emmerce those who already like and read comics, deeper into the community as they look at the numbers. i love when channels speak data and pull the charts out, and periodically they do that on this channel.

I had this idea for a sequel to Devil's Reign and a sequel to Outlawed. It goes like this...
Devil's Reign II would be focused mainly on the New York State Governor being Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and she passes a new law in New York State that makes it illegal for all costumed, super-powered beings to be super heroes or super-villains (specifically professional adventurers, professional adventuresses, and professional crime fighters, and professional criminals, respectively). Such so-called "occupations" so-to-speak are not recognized by New York State law and as such, are considered to be illegal either because of being classified as an act of vigilantism or because of being classified as an act of domestic terrorism.
Unless the superhuman beings (formerly normal, ordinary human beings who are now mutated) or superhuman mutants (people born with their powers) are filed and monitored by the New York State government as either superhuman State troopers or State government agents, not as part of any local, city government such as, for example, the New York Police Department as some form of superhuman division of uniformed police officers. Nor will the superhuman agents of the New York State Bureau of Investigation be instituted into the U.S.A.'s federal government like being in the F.B.I.'s New York Offices as a kind of superhuman branch of federal agents.
The new law will simply take precedence over the State of New York. The superhuman types of squads or units will operate in that capacity with the Governor's State seat of office in the capital city of Albany as their main jurisdiction.
Under the new rule, no normal, ordinary human beings who do not possess any superhuman cosmic, magical, mental or physical powers, can be eligible to continue in their capacity to go off on great adventures and fight crimes. By default it will be treated just like the individuals who use their capabilities to commit crimes. Even if they possess various fighting skills, special abilities, extremely advanced technology and highly powerful weaponry, unless they possess super powers, they are no longer allowed to operate regardless. This will force many humans who are already established licensed, registered, and sanctioned operatives to be forcibly retired from active service.
In the process of this major change in the federal, local, State government status quos of New York, Governor Carol Danvers recruits the Silver Surfer, Doctor Stephen Strange, Sorcerer Supreme, Phoenix (Jean Grey-Summers with the Phoenix Force), Professor X, and the Incredible Hulk as her primary law enforcers.
Among the renegades who refuse to bow down to the authority of the State are the super-villains the Mole Man who has joined forces with Magneto and Loki, uniting the super-villain teams the Frightful Four, the Masters of Evil, and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, creating a criminal army comprised of Subterranean Moloids, lead by the Mole Man, the Wizard, the Trapster, Loki, Baron Mordo, and Magneto. They are opposed to Governor Danvers and vow to eliminate her and her rule. Danvers, in retaliation, has declared the super-villains to be threats to Homeland Security and they are to terminated on sight. The Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the X-Men are joining forces to try to neutralize the threat that the super-villains pose without escalating things with the super heroes of the State.
Among the ones involved are Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, the Thing, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Ant-Man/Giant-Man (Dr. Henry Pym), the Wasp, Thor, Angel/Archangel, Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, and Wolverine. Due to the new State government mandates, enhanced humans like Captain America (Steve Rogers), and humans like Iron Man (Tony Stark), and the Punisher (Frank Castle) are automatically either forced into retirement or arrested, and imprisoned if already a wanted felon. All human crime fighters and criminals alike are outlawed from being involved in any benign or malignant costumed activities in the State of New York.
Now the lines have been drawn. Albany is the new battleground as well as the central rural areas of New York State. With Governor Danvers leading her State's Reign comprised of herself as Captain Marvel, the Silver Surfer, Doctor Strange, Phoenix, Professor X, and the Hulk, the army of united super-villains attacking the seat of government in revenge, and the outlawed human renegades who are trying to remain level-headed all caught in the middle, trying to stop what could become the opening stage for World War Three. Not an expected global thermonuclear war between different countries. But rather, a cataclysmic world war between a future apocalypse involving humans versus superhumans.
That would be how I would make a continuation story for Devil's Reign II and for Outlawed II.

My Antimonitor question, would DC survive the backlash, if this ruined "main" Earth was wiped out, in a crisis reset, was based on the comments, from the nutcases. GLAAD, and other assorted people, who hate comics, comic fans, and the fact that every bit of entertainment isn't about them and their friends, would rage against them, even though wiping out all of the blunders they've made, would more than likely revitalize sales. It would mean all the sexuality swaps, sympathy for the devil style storytelling (the bad guy ain't so bad), aged up, gay Jon Kent, gay Tim Drake, older, classic heroes, like the Trinity being fodder, to get the writers' OCs and self inserts over, and more, all of it would have to go.
I'd love if they'd just weather the storm. Be called istaphobes, show a modicum of respect for us, the people that kept them running, for almost a century, and examine what worked, even as recent as the early 2000s. It was the JLA, leading the charge, no "pride" issues, no new gay romcom versions of books, and female and/or gay being the only real qualifications, to being a hero.
If they could bring back the Amitmonitor, or bring in Dr. Manhattan, and just restart, it'd be great. It's the only way I'll start back reading current day books. As of now, it's too far gone. Too many useless characters, and they've devalued all of their legends. Back issues are the only solace.

I'd buy DC comics if they returned to a better era with quality products worth my money. Dr Manhattan wouldn't be included or any Watchmen if it were upto me, they were a one off in another reality, DC has to get over it and move on otherwise you may as well have the superpowered agents from Vertigo's Psycho intergrated into DC.

The discussion over shipping is the least important conversation in comics and why Perch is wrong.
There are a dozen websites that distribute digital comics, there are LCS s that offer shipping, big book stores, and run off stores like Walmart or Ollie's.
Access to content is not the problem.
    Content is the problem.
I want something delicious to digest. I don't want a bag of dog shit in my mailbox.

The problem with the comics today is that everyone is mad. Most of these writers are activists who only looked at tumblr and they should have stayed on tumblr but instead BMB and Gail opened the floodgates. They see the issues with comics but they don’t care and that’s the issue.

I think the studies showing 50% of comics buyers are women aren’t taking into account that women typically read Archie’s, Fables, Disney, etc OR we BUY comics for other people, esp little boys who are our nephews, sons, etc. Also, even if 50% are women by total, that doesn’t mean that 50% of comics overall are read by women. Like if you have 50 men & 50 women reading comics, the men are (in my estimation) probably reading/ buying 10x more, & men make up the vast majority of collectors. Men just have more disposable income than women & are far more likely to spend it on hobbies (for reasons I won’t bore you with)

Is anyone checking out Monsters Are My Business from Dark Horse? It reads like a Goon wannabe/rip-off, but I have to admit the art surprised me. And there's a story angle involving one of the monsters that has me cautious for #3.

I always liked Marvel characters more than DC, but that isn't to say I hate DC characters. As for LeBron... with ya, there. Don't like that cat. Talented for sure, perhaps the most of his generation, but I still put many greats above him (Magic Johnson, Kareem, Bill Russell, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Kobe, and Shaq off the top of my head).

I never thought of that side (off the court) of Lebron James. A PG (i know hes a 3 but plays like a 1) is supposed to be the most selfless player and put his team and teamates in the best position to win (on court he does that) but your all agreeing that off the court he left all his teams and teamates (high and dry) in the worst position. I can't remember all the off the court details so i won't say I agree, but if that's true it would be messed up.
