  • @waynetech10

I don't think DC ever recovered, from New 52. At least, I was never excited to read anything, or even check back for a trade, since then. Oh, there was a downward spiral, before then, with several books just hitting a wall, but across the entire DCU, it was just violation after violation, nobody felt like themselves, and it was truly like reading another company. Rebirth did some good, and some key players felt like themselves, after so long, but it wasn't a full break, from New 52. Some of the stench was still there. Since the time of Batman RIP and Final Crisis, I was never less excited, to see the next issue, and that's never come back. I still get more enjoyment, out of reading events and solo story arcs, from 30 years ago.
Rebirth was like, "We're taking away some of the most reviled storylines, and making your heroes feel classic, again"
*"We're still keeping some of the moderately bad, New 52 additions".

    • @EvandroACruz

@@dantrudeau5332 A decent book, here and there, doesn't negate the DCU, overall, being dreck. And the books that come recommended don't hold a candle, to years past.
I'm glad some people enjoy a few of the books, out there, but it's been a cycle, with DC. If there's a book that's not half bad, in a few months, it'll be as bad, as 90+% of the rest of the line.

  • @kelpietales4503
    @kelpietales4503 2 месяца назад +3

Rebirth was DC realizing their mistakes with the New 52 and honestly the most recent time they were consistently good. Still they eventually botched that up.
I really enjoyed Priest's Deathstroke run and how it revitalized the character and his entire family. The Defiance arc was an especially interesting story about Slade "going good" that should have ran longer than it did. Even though original NTT was still gone, DC was trying to bring pieces back especially with the controversial Lazarus Contract story. Looking back it wasnt a perfect era for Titans fans but it at least seemed to be trying to do more with Titans that were often forgotten for constant focus on the original NTT seven and maybe a few sidekicks which we seem to be back to with Taylor's Titans. Rebirth Titans brought so many forgotten Silver age Titans back and DS gave spotlight to others like Jericho, Ravager, and Terra. Rebirth TT however really lost track the quickest amd then there was Glass's run.

Some of my favorite stuff that wasn't mentioned are The Witching Hour event part of the Tynion/Ram V Justice League: Dark (which is as a whole very good), the Swamp Thing Winter Special, which is one of the few good Tom King reads, The Batman Who Laughs mini series (which was probably the last we should've seen that character for a while) and Mairghread Scott's Batgirl run. I liked Dark Knights Metal, but that book should've NOT been in continuity. Batman being puppeteered by a Batgod from the start ruins the character and makes absolutely everything about him insignificant. Fine as an alternate story, terrible for continuity. I thought they'd make Barbatos go away after being defeated, but there he is, back in Ram V's run.

DC’s biggest mistake was aging up Jonathan Kent in the Superman books.
Young, Super Sons Jonathan Kent should have been recruited by the Legion of Superheroes to the future, and adult Superman Jon should have come back.
That would have left the door open for the younger Super Sons Jon Kent to return from the future to team up with Damian while he’s training to become Superman.

The list is impressive Wes and true to heart. Still waiting to get that "SUPERSONS" Omnibus Edition. Also... "WORLDS FINEST" was the only unusual/new/interesting DC tittle for many many years which is worth having.
As for "BATMAN METAL/ DEATH METAL"... in the same time there were short stories with 2 volumes called "TALES FROM THE DARK MULTIVERSE". I liked the dark twist for any previous crisis or singular hero's/team event that in one timeline went wrong. The art for all of them was good and worked as a nostalgia/rehash alternative. I'd like more of that and even continue them as a non-canon story.

Dan Abnett should’ve been the one
to write the current Titans comics not Tom Taylor.
Greg Rucka was the last Good writer for Wonder Woman. Now She has bad writer after bad writers and terrible event. Also too scared to leave Diana dead after End of Death Metal. Why can’t writer focus on Cassie Sandsmarks being to protagonist?
2:56 You only see Sideways that about it. Silencer was last seen in Wonder Woman.
The other I have no idea.
Dial H for Hero by Sam Humphries. It the only best comic out of Wonder Comics imprint. Humphries and Quinones put their heart and soul into this as it as a love letter to comics in
    General.
And still baffles me that Superman never considered adopting Miguel Montez.
I might gonna reread Humphries’ Green Lantern series and see it stills holds up.
7:31 l am confused are talk comics from rebirth or since rebirth? Cause Jeremy Adams’ Flash is post rebirth. You don’t anything say about Barry, Wes?
*Superboy Man of Tomorrow by Kenny Porter.*
A great coming of Age story for Connor Kent. He is a man out place as whole world changes. The art is fantastic. Supporting characters are good, villain 100% memorable.
I just wish DC editorial respect that continuity that Kenny wrote and let Maggs Shat on it. Maggs is terrible.

Ah I can say that Flash did get recommendations to me from a couple customers trying to tell me it is good now. But other then that most of this stuff sold mid range at best with exception of Batman White Knight. DCeased was the surprise out of it all, as yeah Taylor writes better in Elseworld situations. Birthrite is worth reading despite what said here. Still Byrne really recrafted things to bring Superman up to speed in the modern world. WTF20.

unpopular opinion here, i really like the Infinite Frontier relaunch too, the amount and varities of comics that came out during that period were staggering..

Why do you have to hype your post as something special by starting it with "unpopular" opinion"?! Can't you just state your honest opinion and let people decide if it's popular or not? Are you not confident in your opinion?

white knight is hugely overrated. cant believe its still going and is so popular. The first series was pretty good (the first half was great) but it was never as good as its first few issues and every series since has been nothing but diminishing returns.

Rebirth was like going back to the 90's and it was awesome. They should have just stayed with Rebirth. The whole DC universe was on top for many of the super heros. But future state and this reboot sucks, trying to add new crapy characters and shrinking the universe all together!
Take it back to Rebirth and stayed there!😊👍

The whole Dark Metal event was garbage. Overhyped, overwrought and completely overdone. For me, Batman and Detective have never been the same since they killed off Alfred. More proof that Tom King is a garbage human being.

Rebirth fucked up by getting rid of Superman & Wonder Woman's relationship. They ruined something that could have been amazing. Lois is boring.

@@rachetmarvel931 I just wish they would be given a real chance and been explored in-depth. Nowadays all I see in the fandom is people bashing their relationship. It wounds me.

Who actually liked WW and Supes? It feels wrong on every level. Also, we wouldn't have gotten Jon. He was great before Bendis ruined him

@@truespartan1000 Lots of people. If you're familiar with their history they've ALWAYS had a thing for each other. New 52 was a weak attempt since they were blank slates but it wasn't bad at all. We would have still gotten Jon because the ORIGINAL Jon Kent son of Superman was the son of Superman & Wonder Woman. Go read Kingdom Come. The modern Jon is just a really bad rip off. Clark & Diana had the better Jon. Lois & Clark having a kid doesn't even make sense since it was stated to be impossible for Kryptonian DNA and Human DNA to mix. So current Jon is just a forced retcon.

Jon Kent is a character that makes no sense and needs to be erased. He's forced as hell and serves no purpose.

  • @atchison8145

Jon sucks and was forced as fuck. Rebirth was bringing back post-crisis, and in post-crisis, Kryptonian DNA and human DNA were incompatible. When asked why, all of a sudden, Clark and Lois could have a child we were given a "Some how Palpatine returned" answer with "That's comics!". Jon is boring and completely unessassery, Conner exists and is a far more interesting character than Jon will ever be. Jon should've just remained Clark and Diana's son in the Kingdom Come universe, being the watcher of Hypertime.

Jon does not suck. The kid version anyway. Adult jon was a bloody bore because Bendis . Kid Jon was fun and interesting. You only hate him because you are a cynical old man who hates change and wants everything to stay the same! Everyone loved Married Superman raising a son, so do not assume everyone hates Jon like you!
