Everyone is always choosing Stefan over Damon, the truth is that Damon is how he his because he is hurt. Because he has always been a good brother, and he protects his friends. He really loves Elena. But he is really hurt, Katherine hurt him, His dad hurt him, his mother hurt him, Stefan hurt him and even Elena hurt him. I really love Damon and his story is sad.

Lol Klaus and Damon's characters were the best. I can't see either of the two were better than the other. They were well written. Tho it took me 5 seasons to like Stefan character just because I feel like Damon and Elena relationship was kinda toxic & that she indeed shouldve went back to Stefan. And Damon couldve went on and gotten with another character. As for Klaus I liked his character all round. Only problem is the ending of the originals for me. He shouldn't had died. Though I think he should be with Cami because she truly understood him more than anyone, I was pissed that they build up the Klaroline relationship only for it to end up nowhere. Like wtf. Lindsay L I think that "real" means that he doesn't hide who he is, he never did, he doesn't hide the darkest part of himself. Stefan did. Stefan was afraid of that part, and that's why he never won over it. Also, Damon is not just bad, he's self-destructive, he hurts/kills people for feeling guilty, for feeling pain. He hated himself, he hated Stefan too. But he's been able to forgive. He has changed, he has grown, a lot. And that's why i love him, he has a real path, he's character actually tells a winding story (with an happy ending).

He's not real because he kills.. he's real because every hardship, every emotion, and every moment of his life is like an open book and we can actually feel his roller coaster emotions throughout the series. He didn't hide his face because of shame. Rather he embraced the shame and allowed himself to be who he really was in that moment. That is something many people in reality today struggle to do, be themselves no matter who's watching. All of us as people have a dark side that's destructive and harsh. Personally I love how they chose to show those dark moments in life through Damon. I personally have always been 'real' like this throughout my life. It hasn't won me a multitude of friends, however because of it I have real friends that aren't afraid to accept humans have more than a few happy emotions within them! ;) The day the faking how you feel stops is the day true friends step up to the plate!

I've seen other good Damon character studies but not as amazing as yours. Your video focuses on how everyone's view point on Damon, opinion or fact has effected him. His feelings for Elena before they were reciprocated, everyone choosing Stefan even after he's with her, and his negative opinion of himself. I've observed Damon is also the person who's willing to make the hard choice more so then others and he is often the one playing a leadership role to his group in times of crisis. He shows loyalty towards his brother ,girlfriend, best friends Bonnie ,Alaric , Liz and others when he is not under the influence of Sybil. Damon is not this monster he claims to be. If good can be found in Klaus than it can be found in Damon. People focus on the bad they fail to see the good or the potential to be good.

When elena turned, stefan was always trying to fix her. Make her be some one who she wasn't. Do things he thought would be best for her. But Damon embraced her. Damon helped elena be who she was, a vampire. He saw that she was strong and not weak then helped her.
Remember everyone saying goodbye to the people that died and Damon walking away and telling Alaric, that they are kids and he hated them. But actually he just told him how much he missed him. My heart broke that scene. (4x02 I believe)

What i hate is that Stefan made Damon what he is, he forced him to turn and then he hates him for being exactly what a Vampire is....A monster.
Same thing with Klaus, Ester turned her kids not thinking of the consequences.

Even worse is that she didn't take responsibility for all the damage she caused and Neither did Stefan. Klaus was forced to feed just like Damon because Esther and Stefan couldn't live without them.
