Jimmy Page's participation on the ARMS tour inspired him to end his long tern addiction to heroin. I think Ronnie's condition really shook him and made him realize that he needed to get his life in gear. Also, he struck up a great friendship with Paul Rodgers who sang on Jimmy's portion of the set on the U.S. leg. That ended up leading to the formation of The Firm. I know a lot of folks are disappointed in what The Firm ended up doing, but it was Jimmy drug free, and it got him back into the music biz instead of just being a recluse. I am really serious when I say this....I am not sure if weren't for Jimmy's participation in the ARMS tour if he would be with us today. He admitted in an interview that 1982 was probably the worst year of his life. He needed something, and a friend really, really struggling w/ health problems he had zero control over can sometimes inspire change.
i saw this show at the LA Forum.. jimmie sucked balls.. first he tripped coming onto the stage, then he forgot where he was during Stairway, then broke a string, then broke a strap... lol.. doofus..
Jeff, Jan and Kenny killed it though, so did Joe Cocker.. i think Eric was in the la times saying that Joe Cocker was the best he had heard in 10 years.. id have to agree...
I was there both nights at the Garden. Though I've seen pretty much every player on the stage several times since, these were among the most memorable shows I've seen. Ronnie Lane RIP. Thanks for posting, and peace to all reading this.
I was there at the Garden here in NYC, thirteenth row center. What a great show. I'll never forget it. Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck right in front of me, playing at the same time...
Notice Jeff give a psyche out look at Ronnie and his guitar just after he starts his solo? It would make my decade to see and hear Ronnie play bass alongside Jeff again.
Damn, Bill Wyman was the same 40 years ago, I thought it was the stones that did it to him !! but on a different video I saw him smile true story, Bill Wyman smiled.
This a great way to see and hear each artists individual style, while i'm writing and cant see i hear page, beck, wood and clapton, and i cant tell who did what , so if you read this first right b4 2 minutes close ur eye`s and listen it is amazing the stylistic difference even a non musician like me can here.. ~ Happy me~ ps, ive seen the other 2 parts of A.R.M.S on here.. worth watching!!
I do believe that, at this concert, he'd just been given that pink Jackson guitar as a present by a representative of the company. A change from his trusty Strat. The other guitarists: "where's mine?!"
Met Glyn very briefly while I was working in NYC, in 1991. Right outside the Port Authority by 6th and 42nd Street. I think he was surprised I recognized him. He was with 2 other people. I said "Holy cow, Hi Glyn!" and he smiled in shock kinda and said "How are you, sir?" And I said "Fabulous, hope you are too.Honor to meet you." And the cool dude says "Quite frankly, it's my honor, cheers" Boom.
was this the concert for Ronnie Lane, I remember seeing clapton, beck and page on the same stage, Pages guitar was way out of it, and it didnt help that he was obviously wasted, he patted Clapton on the back hard, I thought Clapton was going to haul off and hit him
Me too. I'm looking for the video from that show where they helped (kinda carried) Ronie out on stage and everyone joined in to do "With a little help from my friends" It must have been right before this song. Tears still falling 33yrs later thinking about it.
I could have played bass on that one and not fucked it up, that's Britain's greatest up there unbelievable, and with Ronnie Lane tears in his eyes he was the greatest I would like to see them with Steve Marriott .
It seemed to be a rule that anyone who played in either of the two Jeff Beck Groups had to have a bear skin haircut for rest of their lives. Ronnie, Rod, Cozy Powell etc.
I think this show was a wake-up call for Jimmy. He was nearly incoherent at this performance. Watch some of the other footage. On one song he was told to back off what ever the Hell he was doing. Glad to see he's off that crap now.
Wood, Charlie and Bill from the stones were here. Why not Jagger or Keith ? I'm guessing they are not cool with the other english rock stars ? or they are bigger than them ?
i think they also missed brian's funeral. i love rock and roll and can manage without rubber-lips and his hells angels. marriott was the real deal! respect charlie and bill along with all decent people who happen to be musicians - they usually get ripped off, plonk twice!
No, they just weren't there. It's their business. I'm sure neither Ronnie Lane nor any others of the people on that stage thought any the less of them for it. They're just people you've decided you don't like. Beginning and end.
Jeff and Ronnie are the only two with that bear skin haircut. I think it's a condition you get, or a pre-condition, if you join either of the Jeff Beck Groups. Rod Stewart's got it, Cozy Powell, Max Middleton, Bob Tench etc.
He was on every drug imaginable for the last 2-3 yrs and has been living on borrowed time already according to his doctor. What did you expect, numb nuts? 😅 For the record, he looked great here, just way too thin.
What a superb collection of talent. Shows the love they had for Ronnie. What a lovely bloke, always sadly missed.

oakenshanks sounds like me lol
a sweet moment when you can see Jeff Beck kind of holding up Page at the end who looks rather ill
He quit heroine but coke and booze he kept doing till the 90's

For Ronnie Lane...they all played together for and because of Ronnie Lane...you are greatly missed Plonk...
I love how they surround Ronnie at the end ❤️
The list of super stars is endless, it shows the respect and friendship of his peers.
Sad seeing Ronnie walking at the end.. 😢
What a great Video. All the best on stage, brillant
So sad to lose such a guy in that way. RIP Ronnie.
RIP Jeff Beck. End of an era……
God bless Ronnie Lane !!! What a line up too
I was there, behind the stage by Simon's drum kit. Perfect.
I was there, what an incredible night!
Wow! great collection of stars and nice shout out to leadbelly.
The priceless look on Ronnie's face after Jeff Becks amazing solo probably thinking to himself "I have to follow this?!?!"
Notice Jeff give a psyche out look at Ronnie and his guitar just after he starts his solo? It would make my decade to see and hear Ronnie play bass alongside Jeff again.
That WAS a great solo.
1:16 omg Page nearly fell.over
1:42 Beck is actually showing Page "what fret we're on" omg how painful

No, he’s not.
Damn, Bill Wyman was the same 40 years ago, I thought it was the stones that did it to him !! but on a different video I saw him smile true story, Bill Wyman smiled.

Great concert and a great thing just to witness
Jimmy page’s reaction to Jeff beck’s solo is awesome 😂
I was there. It was star studded and amazing!!!!!!!!

Glyn Johns, the legendary sound man and producer in the house. Wrote a great book called "Sound Man."
Jeff Beck at 1:25
Holy fuck...that guy makes everything fucking incredible
1. Page at 1:00.
3. Wood at 1:44
4. Clapton at 2:09
Auriemma, I like his demonstration of "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix here ruclips.net/video/WNNkbE6EU3w/видео.html

what an incredible collection of talent sharing a stage singing Leadbelly's song!
Yes and Mr. Watts on drums!

Ronnie Lane - "You're all FIRED!!" 4:29 hilarious
I went to the arms concert in LA and Jeff Beck blew everyone else off the stage .
Completely agree, I saw the show in Frisco at the cow Palace and Beck stole the show..
Rip the one and only Jeff
So t rue
He was phenomenal. My hero. I miss him
R.I.P. Charlie !
That's Glynn Johns. Possibly the greatest record producer we've ever heard.
Met Glyn very briefly while I was working in NYC, in 1991. Right outside the Port Authority by 6th and 42nd Street. I think he was surprised I recognized him. He was with 2 other people. Good night Irene.😗
I believe Jeff had only just been given that Pink Jackson guitar at that concert as a gift
One Hell of a Band rite there
When I played Bioshock Infinite, I ran across a street group playing this song. What a random encounter from the past.
Classic...!
Funny that at the end the promoter of the concert bill graham said " KENNEY JONES, ARMS concert ", while it was ronnie lane who organized it hahaha
I saw the show in Los Angeles and it was awesome !
was this the concert for Ronnie Lane, I remember seeing clapton, beck and page on the same stage, Pages guitar was way out of it, and it didnt help that he was obviously wasted, he patted Clapton on the back hard, I thought Clapton was going to haul off and hit him

was there 6th row tickets.
The only person worth the weight of truth, is Ronnie Lane
MS What a B'stard. RIP Ronnie.
Ronnie Lane "You're all fired!!"
Of course Page got the biggest cheer as he is the best ROCK guitarist, Clapton the best BLUES quitarist and beck who is the BEST guitarist.
I could have played bass on that one and not fucked it up, that's Britain's greatest up there unbelievable, and with Ronnie Lane tears in his eyes he was the greatest I would like to see them with Steve Marriott .
saw the 2nd US Festival the year also !
That was beautiful, thank you X
All credit to the drummer!
So sad loved that guy
Jeff Beck is so awesome!
QEPD
ロックの歴史の中でも、最も美しい瞬間の1つであろう。
Eric Clapton's side profile (face) is stunning!!
Jeff Beck is a God!
Ronnie, we miss you, wherever you are.
Fact: everyone diagnosed with MS has Lyme antibodies present in their blood.
The four best guitar est in the world.... One stage
Ronnie Lane and his mates
Has anyone ever established why that tiny island in the North Atlantic creates all this talent which never seems to end? 🤷
Jeff Beck & Ronnie Wood fucking OWN
Agreed
It seemed to be a rule that anyone who played in either of the two Jeff Beck Groups had to have a bear skin haircut for rest of their lives. Ronnie, Rod, Cozy Powell etc.
Good old joe just like the birley hotel days.rip joe.ray Drury
So weird watching Jimmy play in this style
no rod stewart for ronnie?
Eric and Jimmy!!!! YEAHH!!
Jimmy Page on all drugs available
Jimmy "I'll give it a go, mate" Page
I think this show was a wake-up call for Jimmy. He was nearly incoherent at this performance. Watch some of the other footage. On one song he was told to back off what ever the Hell he was doing. Glad to see he's off that crap now.
Sadly so, glad he survived.
drinking his drink when announced, same old charlie
Mr jimmy page
Wood, Charlie and Bill from the stones were here. Why not Jagger or Keith ? I'm guessing they are not cool with the other english rock stars ? or they are bigger than them ?
Jeff Beck attended and he has said he did;t really know Ronnie Lane but Clapton asked him and he said yes.
Probably because Jagger and Keith were just getting their WW3 up and running....
i think they also missed brian's funeral. i love rock and roll and can manage without rubber-lips and his hells angels. marriott was the real deal! respect charlie and bill along with all decent people who happen to be musicians - they usually get ripped off, plonk twice!

s j f : You are absolutely correct and definitely not alone in your thinking. The Glimmer twins are not known for their kindness to people.
Name song?
Good night Irene.

I wonder who was tearing he's arse to piecies ?
Jimmy
Ladys & gentlemen.... The Rolling Stones
I can't be the only one thinking that even Ronnie Lane looks better here than Jimmy Page
He was on every drug imaginable for the last 2-3 yrs and has been living on borrowed time already according to his doctor.
What did you expect, numb nuts? 😅
For the record, he looked great here, just way too thin.
Clapton is god
Clapton is boring 🥱
The
They should have replaced Page with Buddy Guy.
He wasnt in the yardbirds..
No way. Idiot.
