This is why I'm glad I never tossed my CDs. I'm guessing lots of 90s Canadian music that I have ceased to exist anywhere once their labels dropped them
What a great band. I'm a canadian living in Oklahoma and was missing home last week. RUclips'd alternative canadian mix and new meanies played. Whoa..play them everyday since
My buddies and I used to listen to this on our patio drinking beer and getting high during the stampede in Calgary, we lived right near the stampede and random people would come from all over would come and party with us.lol I miss those days
The New Meanies, originally called the Blue Meanies, are a four piece rock band from Winnipeg. After releasing two independent albums, Experience is Lost and The Blue Meanies, they toured extensively throughout Western Canada in the early 1990s. The band changed its name to the New Meanies due to the existence of another Blue Meanies based in Chicago, and recorded a new album Three Seeds in the Los Angeles area with producer Howard Benson. The album was released in 1998, and the single "Letting Time Pass" achieved major airplay on radio and television, charting at No. 14 on RPM Magazine's Canadian rock/alternative chart.
Me and Matt Tucker on the Gulf islands in the bosses boat being as cool as we could be listening to some great music telling some great stories . Letting time pass . Miss you brother
Used to see the Meanies at Amigo's in Saskatoon back in my university days. Hands down the best band that never made it big. I covered Letting Time Pass and Scenic Anomaly in Calgary from 1998 through 2003 to pay homage. People always went nuts - we proudly told everyone about this killer band from Winnipeg. I call for a New Meanies Canadian tour. Bring the wives and kids, it's all good!
Ah this takes me back. I remember them practicing in the Carl Noonan Hall otherwise just known as The Hall to us co-op kids. Glad Winnipeg has amazing talent like this!
i just wanted to say i remember this video i was in it and i still remember that day like it was yesterday i was only a little girls when this happened but i was quite proud of my self me and my brothers were both in this video it was alot of fun and a really good song as well
Wow, takes me back to the last months of partying in NY before 103.7 The River was replaced by a country station in my home town. As if there weren't enough country stations to begin with. I'm lucky if I hear any Canadian music on the radio now, except . . . I won't even mention their name. I do hear Rush from time to time and they're worth mentioning.
Im pretty much like everyone else, I love this shit! I have no idea why they didn't make it bigger than they did. Seen them a few times, wish I could again!
man this IS an awesome band these gotta be vhs uploads thx dude damon mitchell has gotta have one of the best voices to eva come outta winnipeg cheers!!
One of my best bud's sister, Alison Warrian, is the red walking up to the lemonade stand at 0:48... Wow! I totally forgot she was in this video! Such a great song. Easily one of my favorites songs
i got to hang out with these guys a long time ago. They were the coolest people ever. I know two people that are of the same, or bigger fame, at the time. (actually huge today) Only one is still cool. Anyway, these guys had their set delayed in Saskatoon, and still sat and beer with us. (Damon had scotch, of course) They even invited my brother and I backstage after the show! These guys are the bestNobody even mentions that the beginning of this song was stolen by Coldplay,Yellow. its obvious!!
Why have they not said something about Coldplay's, "Yellow" having a very similar guitar? When i first heard the Coldplay song, I actually thought this song was on. I loved these guys back then. Still fun to crank this song up. Although, they should still get some Coldplay/Gweneth money!
Had this song come out betweem 1990 and 1994 this would of been a smash hit across the board, unfornatly was a little to late as rock was started to die out in the mainstream in 1998, it's a shame for the most part does not get more airplay on classic rock radio these days.
thank thedealbreaker for sharing your thoughts. i was merely listing a few Canadian musicians that I felt should of been mentioned is all. Where was i ranking these bands? or where did I say that my comment is "say all to end all"? and of course not everybody is gonna like the same music or musicians. Perhaps the music you like I fuckin hate or maybe I enjoy, either way its just a comment and I didn't mean to cause an up roar on your side.
Does this band still exist. I remember hearing this song scenic anomaly and thinking it just kicked ass, but I could never remember the name of this band. I have been looking for the three seeds album, I can not find it, or even lyrics to scenic anomolie.
anyone have the other album... not this one, the independant one they released... add me and send me a message... used to play these songs on the Shaftesbury High Radio Station.
I loved these guys back in the day. This tune crosses borders and achieves the esteemed position of being completely timeless and capable of placing my mind right back in the time when it was released.
Except I didn't tell you what to think, I just gave my opinion of those bands. You on the other hand decided to tell someone their opinion was wrong, which is why this started. Anyway, have a nice life.
Jennifer McIntyre You mean Sky Onosson? The guy currently working on his doctorate in linguistics at the University of Victoria? I assure you he is very much alive
You struck a chord because you're claiming to be some sort of authority on who the best band is. Like when you posted: "under rated yes but certainly not the best canadian band ever, sorry" It's not up to you, bro. If you'd just said "I think Rush etc are better" fine, but that's not what you did.
Maybe ranking the music you like and expecting everyone else to share those rankings is a dumb idea...For example, I fucking hate every artist you just listed.
Still listening in 2023 to this awesome tune!
Still blasting this tune in 2020. I just wish it was on Spotify.
100% I need this on Spotify. Such a great tune from childhood.
Thats why I disapprove of spotify
Same

I still return to this video every summer. Good childhood memories. I taped it off Much Music years ago.
I randomly thought of this song just now, and was able to find it on RUclips! Amazing!

Wish I could find this song on Spotify... Miss this band.
They still get together once in every so often. Saw them at the Spectrum in Winnipeg spring '24. Still rock pretty hard.
Played a show with back in 96. Man this brings back my childhood 😢
Played Port Dover at the brig in 1998ish. Great band. Great show.

They’re still played on our radio stations. At least once a day this comes on , on one of our stations 🤘🏻
I would say what is blud yapping about but since this is related to the video I will tolerate it.
Been listening to this song periodically since 97. Such a classic. Needs more respect. Takes me back to being 10 years old watching with my brother.
My cousin knows these guys. Haven't heard about them in a long time!
It's been a while since Canadian rock radio had acts this good to listen to. Can't believe I'm getting nostalgic for the 90s...
Neither can I... cough. This ersatz southern rock tripe is even worse than I remember.
By far one of the greatest Canadian bands EVER....WAY too underated!!!
Wat a great song ,
Me and Matt Tucker on the Gulf islands in the bosses boat being as cool as we could be listening to some great music telling some great stories . Letting time pass . Miss you brother
Still rings bells in 2024
