@Camilo P Truth. Almost every big band in the 90's opened up our shows at ine time or another. The Fox Seeds contest vaulted a half dozen of them. We had a great dillowung, heqdlined everywhere for years, rehearsed 3 hours 3 days a week, then a or 2 weekend shows (many weekday shows at clubs that had bands weekdays and DJ's on weekends), played on live TV, had interviews and performed on live radio, but that's as far as it went. Without the exposure and leg up from the Seeds contest or a manager that has big pull, it's tough to make it in Canada's left coast. So many amazing musicians, singers, song-writers and bands that never made it any further than occasional openeing gigs at the few clubs that have live indy bands. Very sad to see.
@Camilo P Imagine how we feel now, with no opportunities to showcase our live performances, or really even just get together to rehearse and write new tunes that come from hours of just jamming. It's already sad enough seeing crazy talented Canadian singers/guitarists/writers like Todd Kearns relegated to playing bass and singing backup vocals, even if it is for Slash/Myles Kennedy. Myles is the most fortunate lead singer in the world to have someone singing PERFECT harmony with some notes so high it hurts your feelings that the song has to end.
Hats off to you for shaping so many of our lives. AOE/LL is a huge place in 90s Canadian rock and I believe influenced any kid who picked up a guitar - still playing along to this video today. Cheers!
We loved AOE! Lived in Edmonton and we would go to not only those shows, but we would follow them to Red Deer & Calgary. My GF Val had the biggest crush on Todd...then again I think most everyone did . Happy hes doing so well ; )
it seemed like that local band called "ETTINGER" played California Dreamin all the time, MNy Aubnt had the cassette of TGHE LATEST PLAGUE and the poster/tshirt etc, we been rocking with AOE since 1991. Remember on 27 church street the bar "CLUB PARAISE" which later became "IMPULSE", that place was rad

it's about a generation of rock dying. AoE was a hybrid band barely heard of. Todd Kerns brought ass kicking 80's rock to Ryan Dahle's manic alt rhythms. It was caught by the undertow of media and grunge, lost forever like my youth when i found this beacon of art long ago,,
I seen Ryan in Regina When Limblifter Headlined a local bands concert, he did a guitar solo then continued it it for a few more minutes then he normally would. I knew his mom and seen her there, she said that Ryan or Kurt didnt mention them doing a long guitar solo. She is a pretty funny lady and said like "oh Ryan quit trying to show off in your home town" haha while me and my bro loved it.
I've been listening to this on a promo CD called "This One's Worth Saving". I got the disc in 1995 on a drunken road trip to U of Ottawa to see Big Sugar. 'Untitled' is track #1 and it has lots of miles on it now, and still going strong...
One of the hottest starts to a song, the heavy drums and the slow roaring of the guitars are so fuckin slick...one of my fav alternative rock bands of the 90s. Maybe I am stretching, but I think the lyrics so capture the psychology of greed from the 2008 housing bubble with everyone wanting to have more...LOL. Thanks for this upload. So you wanna borrow heavy, you train in vain You're like a last song lost yeah So you wanna be like your mates, So you disintegrate DESTROY REBUILD DESTROY REBUILD DESTROY
I love this band. Two sets of brothers. The Kerns and The Dahle brothers (which formed a side project called Limblifter that was pretty successful and also a great band). I love the bass player here. He's so IN IT! But my main reason for commenting is.....the lead singer TODD FUCKING KERNS! So UNDERATED! He's gone on to play with Slash and other notables (even filled in for a night as lead singer for Streetheart recently which was cool!). But he deserves way more recognition than he gets!
Agreed they're All Awesome wht a singer. I'm a massive fan of Ryan Dayle and Kurt plays keyboards on a newer Limblifter song video called Subtitles. Mounties dope band too.. Pinnacle of Canadian 90s crunch 🤘
I actually have this video on a VHS tape, somewhere. Along with Ugly, and a few other bands from around Winnipeg (some of which never got their videos even aired on Much Music). My father is friends with people in the business, so we usually got to experience neat stuff, like seeing videos before they were released. Great video, by the way. Always been one of my favorites. :D
@ravenouscolonelhart Thanks! We filmed it in Winnipeg in the middle of the legislative building there. The room is awesomely called "Pool of the Black Star"
I think this was shot in the Legislative Building in Winnipeg, on the main floor...I do know that Ugly was shot in the Hotel Fort Garry...we rock like that here Great Video , thank you once again for posting it...you rock
This has become one of my favorite videos since discovering it on RUclips. Thanks for posting and sharing this. If you directed this video, thedealbreaker, you are a helluva director-very artistic with the way the shadows play in and out with subtle shades of color here and there along with the simplicity of focusing on the band performing on a small area that seems to revolve. Todd looks even more amazing in this video, I love it......
Man, I can't believe I'm just seeing this comment now. Thank you so much. To say this video had no budget is an understatement, but I'm really proud of how it turned out. thanks again
This is one thing that makes me proud to be as old as I am! I saw them many times, and once climbed the speaker tower to get backstage and meet Todd. Haha!
This is an awesome song! I loved the video and song as soon as I heard it, but I forgot the details and have been trying to remember it ever since.. 15 years later I've finally found it again! Thanks for the vid!
Such Attitude? lol,ok if you want attitude watch the band called "Watain" that's what you call attitude. But Age of Electric is a cool Canadian band,i seen them in London,Ontario in the mid 90's in my high school daze.I use to catch so many great Canadian bands in London at Western Fair Grounds,Call the office,Embassy Hotel, great Canadian bands like The Tea Party,Our Lady Peace,54-40,13 Engines,Econoline Crush,Big Sugar,Big Wreck,Killjoys,I Mother Earth,Sloan,Rusty,Treble Charger,The Gandharvas.
@PedroRiot - anybody know what theyre up to today? Glad you like the vid! It was my second time directing a music video (back in the day). The singer is playing bass in slash's new band The guitarist went on to form limblifter and is now doing a solo thing (Ryan Dahle) The drummer is in the New Pornographers The bass player, I'm not sure about. Thanks again!

The best thing they did was leave Regina and change the bands name and writing style. But even when they were mostly doing covers back in the day they were a killer unit!
This band put in it's hard work & were one of canada's best 90's band

Aww thanks a lot. I'm glad you like it! I directed most of the AOE videos and almost all the Limblifter videos aswell. Cheers!
thedealbreaker really?? Ugly was awesome. They were all awesome. They should've been way bigger. I was obsessed with them in high school
Knew these dudes back in the day when they were playing the club scene and driving beat up hatchbacks. The Dahl bros were really cool, no egos.
@The Flaneur This comment is so old and I can't believe I haven't replied. Thanks so much for your kind words. It really means a lot

The video for Ugly was really well done.
...saw these guys many times before they went big with Ugly and Remote Control...this tune is easily my favorite....excellent guitar solo
This song needs to get on Spotify already. I want to listen to it more and it deserves to be in a lot of Canadian rock playlists!!
We loved AOE!

Nice description. And I agree. Love the mix of 80s hair rock with 90s alt rock.

By far one of the most poetic bands in Canadian music history.
It will last
I't so sad that I can't find this track on Spotify anymore! Luckily as a 90's kid I have their CDs :) :)
Thank you for making the videos I enjoyed in my youth and can watch now and still enjoy!
I miss this band!

Great song and fantastic video. The lighting is amazing and editing is very effective for what the song is trying to convey. Great job.
