I like it so much I've added it to my band's setlist. One of my favorite tunes of all time. 💜 Music certainly hasn't gotten better than this. 90s Canadian rock forever!
This band was the sound track to all the crazy days that followed my divorce in 96. Don't really remember alot of that year...soooo wasted...arrested adolescence. But I do remember this video and cd. Thanks for the memories. God Bless.
growing up in the Detroit area i got exposed to Canadian bands by listening to nearby Canadian radio stations, i haven't heard this song on the radio in a long time though, but they still play another one of my other favorite Canadian bands, the Sam Roberts band quite a bit though
@@jtgriffith1980 yeah i miss 89X, its a good thing i still have those handful of 89X stickers i scored at a local Kroger store where they were doing a promo some years ago
Me too. 89X was a great station. Sloan was another band I first heard on 89x. They played a lot of great music. Fastball, Odds, Toadies, Superdrag, Oasis. I loved that era. Now 89x is freaking Country 😆
As songwriters and makers of good records, The Odds' all-too-brief recording career produced 5-10 of the finest Canadian AOR rock tracks ever sent to the airwaves. So severely under-rated, except with people who do focus groups with radio programming consultants, and for that I am grateful. You can't really forget greatness, and so we don't.
I've kinda re-discovered these guys recently when I bought their greatest hits because I wanted to hear "Someone Who's Cool" again... they really had a lot of other great radio hits but they often fell under the radar a lot of times compared to even other Canadian pop and alternative bands in the 90's. These guys came out pretty early in the 90's during the grunge explosion and their look and sound reflected that despite they were clearly a power pop band... they wore the flannel and stripped shirts, long hair, and heaped on the heavy distortion but the melodies were always melodic and hooky pop.
I grew up across the river from Windsor, Ontario and was THANKFULLY exposed to great bands like The Odds, Sloan, The Waltons, BNL, etc... No such music like this on the airwaves any more...
I met these gentlemen playing a relatively small rock club on Long Island, NY early 90s. I've seen 100s of bands in my time... and probably sang in half of them... but these guys were different. One my favorite bands from the 90s... Bar none. Neopolitan is still one of my most favorite cassettes of all time. Now dead, I need it on CD. Why weren't they able to release it?
They had great vocals. Really great vocals. They caught my ear as a different sound in the 90s and still hold up all these years later. Great band. Saw em live in Fernie, BC in a small bar, completely unnannounced a few years back and was a seriously wonderful club show.
They're commonly the house band at Vancouver Canucks games nowadays... But I would have to rate them as probably the most underrated Canadian band of all time, fucking great music!
I completely agree with JIVETURKAH's sentiment. It makes me sad knowing how many people have never heard of the greatness that is Odds, and even more so that even with new material being release, south of the boarder is still none-the-wiser. You guys were amazing in the past, and continue to Rock now!
If The Odds came out today they might have been huge. There are actual radio stations now that would play their music, unlike in the 1990's in most of Canada. We like to think of ourselves as open minded in Canada, but when it comes to music we can be very conservative, and amazing groups like The Odds don't get the proper amount of playtime they deserve.
I have to thank CHOM 97.7 FM for airing this music. I whent in my car and this was playing on the radio at like 12H35 pm or something so I tracked down the last hour playlist to find it. It was luck I guess because I've never heard this song before. Great find. 100%
@themikeawesome Agreed but they are a big part of that Canadian rock History along with Gob, Treble Charger, Headstones , I Mother Earth, OLP and Mathew Good.....
Great job. Have a hard time figuring out their influences tho' . . . sometimes I get a very Ray Davies vibe from these guys, other times it's Marc Bolan, occasionally the usual Lennon & Mc, and every now n' again I think I hear some Stevie Marriott wailing away on a Les Paul. But all of it works very nicely -- think Steve Drake is probably the best guitar player I've ever seen, and he makes it all look so easy!
@JIVETURKAH Yup! As is often the case, Canada's best music gets no international attention, while our shittiest shit become chart toppers. The Odds, Sloan, Blue Rodeo, Matthew Good Band - all that good 90s rock/pop is more or less ignored by the American market. In a sense it's a shame, but at least we get to keep the good stuff for ourselves! Kind of like Australian wine lol.
If you count what nickleback has as success... It would suck if my band was a punchline. The odds have credibility and quality. Cult status. Plus they released all their best albums when cd's were going for 25 bucks, they must have gotten paid a little.
This is the quintessential sound that transports me directly back to the 90’s!!
I like it so much I've added it to my band's setlist. One of my favorite tunes of all time. 💜 Music certainly hasn't gotten better than this. 90s Canadian rock forever!
Im not sure what brought me here today but im listening to the ODDS ALL DAY now and I dont know why i ever stopped!!! :)

Just heard it on 98.1 in London, ON, that's why I'm here
Just a reminder these guys also sing the theme to Corner Gas. I love these guys! This CD was the sound of 11th grade for me!!

Terrific power pop - beautiful, Beatle-y harmonies. Pop is not a bad word. It's hard to make such perfect power pop. The Odds are fab!
In canada all you needed then was a buzz .. and consistency and you were good🍁💕💕💕
I've kinda re-discovered these guys recently when I bought their greatest hits because I wanted to hear "Someone Who's Cool" again... they really had a lot of other great radio hits but they often fell under the radar a lot of times compared to even other Canadian pop and alternative bands in the 90's. Hidden canadian gem right here...
from whom? this song was all over lol.
Discovered this song this year. Spotify just told me it was my listened to track of the year. Not a shock. Amazing song.
one of the best bands that ever existed
I'm going through the Odds catalogue of hits and it just dawned on me, they have been playing through my younger years constantly.
I grew up across the river from Windsor, Ontario and was THANKFULLY exposed to great bands like The Odds, Sloan, The Waltons, BNL, etc...
No such music like this on the airwaves any more...
i remember when i first heard a Sloan song it was The Other Man

Why weren't they able to release it?
This song is so amazing, I'm so happy that a couple of the radio stations here play it on a daily basis.
This song will exist forever on social media like this. Forever and ever....
holy crap Odds!! one of the best bands of the 90's!!
They had great vocals. Really great vocals. They caught my ear as a different sound in the 90s and still hold up all these years later. Great band. Saw em live in Fernie, BC in a small bar, completely unnannounced a few years back and was a seriously wonderful club show.

Wicked guitar tone!
90's Much Music nostalgia right here...

Name those Canadian celebs back in the day. I'm bummed this singer no longer plays with the Odds, his voice is awesome.
I'm 16 in 2013. Funny how I discover this, there's good music out there, you just gotta find it
LOVE these guys. Wish they would come back east for a show or two.
I miss Steven Drake's voice.
Hope to see this get a remastered upload soon.

This band owes a ton to 90s CANCON. What are you talking about??
I have to thank CHOM 97.7 FM for airing this music. I whent in my car and this was playing on the radio at like 12H35 pm or something so I tracked down the last hour playlist to find it. It was luck I guess because I've never heard this song before. Great find. 100%
Great shit! Takes me back to 96!
Saw the Odds in Boston a couple of times some years ago. So damn good! Nice guys too.
This music video always reminded me of "Freaks and Geeks" the tv show, makes it that much moire awesome!
great harmonies
great song and a great video that compliments it
sounds good all around!....harmonies.....
It's so odd that many of these famous well respected Canadian bands are absolutely unknown/ignored by American audiences.
Listening in North Carolina in 2020. Not all Americans have bad musical taste!
Rhode Island for me
Love Love Love ODDS!!!
I want the "Truth Untold" about Steven Drake's leaving the band...
Love the Kim Stockwood cameo! :D
the truth will always lye between us we may never unfold the way our lives have brought us here
Here in 2020 still a favorite. Anyone remember HUH CD Magazines??? How I found this.
Underrated song/band
The Odds still play and tour.
I miss when videos had normal looking ppl in them. Now everyone looks too perfect.
#TBT MuchMusic Countdown February 3 1995
My teens years. High school
Very 70s . Great band ...
Steven Drake sang the best song in my opinion. They were a fraction of the band without him unfortunately.
They certainly were not the same.
you know you're from Winnipeg when.............
man this song makes sad cuz i rember the sad stuff
in my life
KIM STOCKWOOD! Damn fine Newfie. :D
@themikeawesome Agreed but they are a big part of that Canadian rock History along with Gob, Treble Charger, Headstones , I Mother Earth, OLP and Mathew Good.....
the Odds,...Score!!!
Does anyone know if The Odds ever played NYC?
love this band, anyone know why steven drake doesn't sing with them anymore??
Very 70s ! Good band...
Odds Rule!!! Hating On Nickelback is acceptable anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great job.

As far as influences go...the Beatles, with Steven Drake as Lennon...
🤘🏻🇨🇦🍻

So good! Local 518 is a classic!
Is that yet another Dave Foley cameo @ 1:32

@JIVETURKAH
Better than Nickleback
You must really like the Odds
If you count what nickleback has as success... It would suck if my band was a punchline. The odds have credibility and quality. Cult status. Plus they released all their best albums when cd's were going for 25 bucks, they must have gotten paid a little.
