  • It's always exciting to see what AT Overland is up to, and again they have brought something totally new to the market, by offering the first ever Hard side, bed rail mounted Truck Topper/Camper system. I think it is awesome, what do you think?

Actually Baja Campers were building campers that mounted to the bed sides back in the 70’s

Built my own with 2" foam insulated panels that mount to the rails. Has shower, toilet, sink, hot water on demand, 2 100 watt solar panels, inverter generator, portable power source, refrigerator, freezer, and more. Going to Arkansas hills in October for first big run.

This is sweet! The Moonlander toppers by Radica are cool as well. They aren't cab over but their price point is very reasonable.

The reason callen built these as a shell was because back in the day slide in campers required registration separate from the truck, this was a way around that because camper shells didn’t require registration.

Nothing new the design has been around sense 1973 callen campers was the first to my knowledge to do this.Belair also does a version of this and has for years, they got the idea from callen

That camper being mounted to the bed rails overcomes many of the pickup trucks not recommending slide in campers which if you used them would void your warranty.

@@rturpening thank you. I like the whole design concept. It just seems a bit steep in price.

@@mickylawless1941 Same, though the headroom seemed a little too tall, for me at least. Being able to stand up was enticing, but only having 2 windows is lame, and no window on the rear hatch. Also, the guy at the show said they didn't plan on doing an 8ft bed any time soon, and that's the configuration I would want it in. I think I'm going to stick with my idea of buying a moonlander. You can't stand up in them, but with more windows, a little wider, and half the price I think it'll be a good setup. If AT makes an 8ft in a few years I might upgrade.

Did I actually see $76,000 on their website😳

That's for the AT Aterra XL (fully built camper on flatbed). The hard side topper (first model in this video) seems to be their demo and details are not yet posted on their website. I seem to remember Mario (AT owner) doing a walk through on another video, and maybe he commented on price point

@@WallyKuhns Thanks for the info👍It just seemed really expensive when the vast majority of Phil’s friends are Mobbing with fairly affordable 10-20 year old vehicles😬

I saw on another video where they mentioned pricing. This one is priced at $20.5k. I'm assuming it's in freedom units and not Canadian dollars.

@@ozmanfidaar6311 A little expensive for a glorified truck cap but definitely much better than $76,000👍
