Neither did I! But as soon as i touched them i knew they were gonna be good, even before i laid them down on the paper. It really allowed me to have fun with them
never ever imagined that oil pastels could make something like this?? honestly you amaze me every single time and i can’t help but wonder how incredibly beautiful your art collection might be I AM IN LOVE
Thank you so much Mehak! It's all in the art supplies, i think. Some are more limiting whole good oil pastels like this makes you what to experiment and have fun
That looks like so much funnn!! This makes me wanna pull up to my nearest craft store and buy some for myself. This vid was as great and is really inspiring me to make more art💜
@@hambot it’s nppp and that’s great to hear! I’m always wanting to try out new art supplies. During the summer when I’m on summer break I’ll def consider using pastels! 💜
I'm getting into oil pastels more and I love how you tried to create finer details. Never thought of it. I just use color pencils. Would love to see more. This piece turned out so fabulous and artsy!
And they really did start out as that, oil pastels were created in japan by Sakura as an art supply for schoolchildren. But Pablo Picasso saw potential in this material for his art and commissioned Senellier to produce the first ever artist grade oil pastels.
I remember hating these when my school would hand out these crusty oil pastels(not that you need expensive art supplies to make good art )but seeing you use them makes me want to give them another try since it's been awhile.😁😁😁
Glad that the maker reached out to you, hoping that you would test and show their product. They seem a very pliable and readily worked item which is unusual for many oil pastels. Sure you'll finds lots of times when they will suit a certain subject for you. Thanks for sharing your experiences with them.
Thank you Murray! It opened me up to how good quality art supplies really makes a difference. They were not at all like what i expected from my experience with oil pastels before
Omg I can’t believe the price for the quality. That’s crazy to me. I love how this came out. It’s cool you mention it being like a wet medium. I never thought of it like that but now I see it. I’m not as experienced with them either but I’d love to check these out. Paul Rueben is such a popular brand
It really is so affordable! And they have different sets. This is only my first real attempt at ool pastel art but i can't imagine how they can make these better
@@hambot yeah, I’m so shocked at that. That’s so cool. I think I saw that on Amazon but I also saw them post it on their Instagram when they first released them & got curious about them. I have both Crayola & the munaygo gallery oil pastels. They’re looking very close to munaygo so I’m loving that. Oh yes, I don’t know how they could either. I just wonder how they get them at that quality for cheap. That’s wizardry. Lol
I remember using these in school to recreate Vincent van Gogh's sunflowers. Thank you for reminding me how beautiful pastels can be and what they can create!
Really the only problem I have with Paul Rubens are the color choices for the smaller boxes. I bought the 36 color one but maaan should I have gotten a bigger one. There are too many colors that are very similar to each other and they're mostly dark colors. Other than that, the pastels themselves are the best I've ever used. Very very very high quality.
I’m happy to have come across this vid so randomly! I struggled with my oil pastels and then seeing you use a pallet knife and a pencil!?? Blew my mind! And I’m excited to try them again.
With the artist’s hands, every simple art tools turn into somthing magical! I love oil pastels so much but my level still cannot make them look amazing like that. The drawing is super beautiful!!!x
That is absolutely beautiful I really love the colors and the oil pastels the colors and the subject just look sooo beautiful together this was a good choice to try them out. If u do some more (paintings) with the pastels I would definitely want to see that.
beautiful work.. i think oil pastels are really lovely to work with, but I never quite know what to do with the finished piece, as far as sealing it , or protecting it .. many say the fixatives don't really work , and it is said that the oil pastels don't really ever cure or dry, so I'm just perplexed about preserving them .. thanks for a lovely video and sharing your experience with using them.. norakag , here👍
Thank you for making this video. I have many different brands of oil pastels. I’d love to get better at painting with them. They are fun and vibrant. You have inspired me to keep trying.
you've been posting so often lately and it makes me very happy that you're enjoying yourself so much. your videos not only help me calm down (or even fall asleep) but i also learn things through them, so, I'm very glad. hope you're doing great, sending love~
Thank you so much V! This makes me so happy, I've been focusing my energy on my videos and since i have a working camera now i don't have to let my phone rest so much between takes
I opened the video cause I instantly recognised her , thanks alot for drawing/painting her ...♡ watching you using oil pastel inspired me to try it too.
This is gorgeous!! back before when we could go to art classes, i used to do oil pastel portraits and would use prisma colored pencils for doing smaller details. i think it worked kind of well because prismas already have a very waxy consistency. Anyways, love the colors you used and I hope you use them more!
I love working with chalk pastels but hate powdery fall out so I've been looking for some decent oil pastels to try instead. I was suggested Paul Rubens hence how I found your video. I already have their watercolours so I'm excited to try these next 💸
So juicy, I love that! I do have these oil pastels, but don't know how to work with them as I usually use drier OPs. But your video has inspired me and now I feel eager to try Paul Rubens again! :)
I’m so beyond fascinated and grateful that you chose my angel sulli to draw. Her death really hit me hard as she helped me a lot with my mental health. I designed a tattoo especially for her as I always wanted a piece of her with me. She will forever be my muse for my art and my beautiful guardian angel. Hope you’re resting well my 조진리 🍑
They look so smooth, i have those cheap faber pastell ones.. they are good and very pigmented, but they don't blend well.. but maybe i don't use the right paper.
I randomly come across your video. Honestly I've missed out a huge gem in art community. Instantly hits subcribe ≧▽≦ hope to see more from you in the future

I've never tried it but I'm told you can mix them with linseed oil and paint with them

Also, this is one of the best oil pastel paintings I've ever seen. Really cool.
Wow! Thank you so much!!
The color combination is absotutely beautiful, that redish magenta contrast well with the green on the left side, it´s so harmonius
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I haven't tried that but j think because od how soft these are, that they wouldn't accept colored pencils that well
I always saw oli pastels as "that one tool we used in elementary school" but I've been wanting to experiment with different mediums.

Thank you so much for this lovely comment ❤️❤️
For fine details you could try using linseed oil and a small brush. Dip the brush in the oil, gather pigment from the oil pastel, apply to work.

I remember those crusty oil pastels really well 😭.they make crayola crayons feel premium lol
