I use only ketchup on the top. Alot!! I also use ketchup in it. Celery, onions, carrots sometimes but usually celery and onions..Garlic too. I 've NEVER used oats either. Just not sure why. I use seasoned bread crumbs too but my favorite is a sleeve of crushed saltines. Sub milk for some half n half. This recipe looks amazing. I love to eat meatloaf cold as leftovers! Don't heat it, no sandwich just cold on a plate! Sometimes I make 5 lbs of meatloaf and everyone loves it so much, we have sometimes don't have much left! It's crazy! Same with mashed potatoes! Lol... Love this channel!! The best ideas, recipes and twists on dishes. Absolutely love it! That's cooking to me. Switch it up. Use different things. Try new ways. Get new ideas. I grew up using crushed saltines, but have used oats, corn flakes, & now use the seasoned crumbs. I also make tomato gravy. It's always smooth! Just make gravy as always but add ketchup. Really good.
My mom used a supermarket-made package of 1/3 each: ground beef, pork, and veal. I can never find something like that where I live, so I just use 1/3 pork and 2/3 beef, and pretty much everything else you do. I'll take meatloaf any day over steak!

FYI- As a single mom trying to get dinner together quickly, I found that making mini-meatloaf in a cupcake pan worked well. It cuts the baking time down by about half, which is great when everyone is starving. ❤
Well we never had meatloaf baked with ketchup. There was always brown gravey made from the pan drippings. So yes to the mashed potatoes with gravey. Leftover hot open faced meatloaf sandwiches with the gravey all over. Or cold meatloaf sandwiches for lunch. Yum!
I use 2 Slices of bread & I soaks it on milk. The I make 3 oversized patties. It makes it thinner so it Cooks faster & it makes it so tasty. I cook it on a sheet pan with parchment paper. They it it's amazing.

I could’ve told you a white tshirt doesn’t mix with any food with tomato. As a complete klutz, I speak from experience. Love your addition to the ketchup topping. It does need the ketchup, but just ketchup or ketchup with honey is not quite right or too sweet; I’m definitely taking that & some other tips here & mixing them in my Mom’s meatloaf recipe. Great job.

Mine is similar to yours but I put the ketchup in the meat mixture along with about a TB. Of Grandma’s Blackstrap Molasses. On top I put a strip or two of Raw bacon strips. The bacon adds another layer of taste as it cooks and drips into the loaf. And a slice of leftover meatloaf with some of that bacon…..wow! It really makes a meatloaf sandwich great. Of course this is my Mom’s recipe that I have used for years. I want to try yous though. I’ve never added green peppers. 😁😁

I made this and didn’t have Worcestershire sauce so I used a little Liquid Smoke mixed with a little balsamic vinegar and OMG… literally the best meatloaf in the history of my life.
Well. I'm Not a ketchup fan and never understood the need for sweet with savory...I know, I know. So...nikole I think I'm going to make your recipe, cutting the ketchup with balsamic and w sauce may be a win over for me 😉☺️

I use Stove Top Stuffing, usually turkey... more seasoning, for my binder in meat loaf.

When my son was little I cubed the leftovers and gently heated then in pasta sauce. Add sketti and BOOM! Little boy heaven.

When my kids were small, I used to use quick oats instead of bread crumbs.
I would give them a couple of rounds in the food processor.

Sautee veggies in olive oil first and let it cool. Like the idea of mixing everything before adding the meat. I sometimes over mix.

Love meat loaf. I use V-8 juice for the liquid. Makes it so tender and juicy. Meatloaf sandwiches with mayo for me. Delicious.
