I probably watched the last of windies great bowlers as they were getting ready to walk into sunset... believe me nothing terrifies the batsmen than watching that magnificent bowler coming at them with sun at their backside. Pure nostalgia seeing Mr Ambrose!
I was scared watching him on TV. The best fast bowler of his time (1988-1994) and that includes Akram at his peak.
I haven't watched Sir Curtly Ambrose bowl. But, I can imagine the terror the batters would be feeling. Intimidating on field (I guess) but very well spoken and polite off field. Just like all WI players. Hopefully the great team regains their greatness soon.
I have seen him bowling live on tv. Watch his spell on 1996 Ind vs WI Wills WC league match highlights, he got Ajay Jadeja and Navjot Singh Sidhu..Just listen to the sound when the ball hits the wickets. Brutal & Lethal.
He was good bowler not too fast if now days batting friendly condition he play can't be famous like he became in 80s and 90s

I haven't seen him on the TV but i can just imagine how a tall bowler bowling to a Batsman batting without a helmet.. absolute carnage.. that's why we shouldn't compare players from different eras to each other neither batsman nor bowlers.

While many play ramp shots now days, not many would have dared to play against Ambrose if he was playing today. He was fearsome as a bowler. Nowadays no fast bowler is fearsome to face. A True legend.

I am a huge fan of Ambrose, he was my idol. He was not just good, he was very good, hardly seen him being taken for a ride by any batter. He always used to come back strong. Giant of the cricket world.
I used to back from school to watch these legends in TV. In those days test matches were live on TV, unlike now. Esp WI revenge tour who came to India, of course we were whipped but Kapil, Gav, krish, Vishy..it was great time. Joel Garner, Ambrose later Marshall ..terror no sledging, they are humourous and they love parties and amazing players.

Bumrah is right up there with Sachin. There's not even a competition. There's not a scare among bowlers for Virat that he'll hit me for a six next ball. But almost every single batter is "AFRAID" of Bumrah.
