Another nice video. I noticed last week that Walmart has increased the prices of fuel canisters by about 50% from last fall. Happy Paddling. Good Luck, Rick
I buy most of mine on the trail and like filters the price can vary massively. We have been considering grabbing a compact propane stove since it seems to be easier to find the 1 lb cannisters
Nice one. Watch that shoulder!! I worked in construction all my life and had plenty of problems with that ! Some of them recuired even chirurgy to heal ! Try to change your paddle movements at every stroke , padle with the kayak padle instead the canoepadle etc...Do whatever you can to NOT have the same movement every stroke. Good luck and keep it safe (and healthy)😀 p.s. I evolued from a righthanded guy to a ambidexter one (as good with my left as my right) to limit problems. Did Jen loose her sleepingbag in the Sierra ?? It wasn't a red one.
If you could get some athletic tape or have someone bring you some you could support the shoulder that way ? Really enjoying sharing your journey with you !
Oh boy ... just getting caught up here. I have to say, Cabin Boy is one of the VERY few movies that I have turned off and didn’t even worry about missing the end. 😆 I just could not get into this one.
I haven’t seen it since high school and I remember it being very stupid. And yet all these years later I will still occasionally quote it. And I feel Jen would have a much better appreciation for my wit and culture as I bellow about pipes being clean if she were to see it…
Hey have you guys thought about buying a candle to keep mosquitos away , there is one called Murphys natural mosquito replant, I think target sells it, might be an option for at night
Depends on the section. The lake like areas above the dams have zero current and we have to paddle harder. When we get current we sometimes will take a break and drift but you tend to end up having to correct to get away from rocks and the shore. And the paddle motion is rather satisfying except for when your fighting against wind.
I paddled so much when I first got my kayak about 10 years ago that I ended up at the ER for sciatic nerve pain from hell for sitting in the same position every day. Take care of that shoulder but, beware of your ass.
A coworker of mine had that from sitting in his office chair. So at least you got it playing :) I find the canoe seat a lot more comfortable than my kayak
Geez, you folks are paddling through literally the nursery of mosquitoes. River bottoms and swampland are their natural habitat. The whole State isn’t at zero degrees of local elevation.
Never did a paddling trip before but the amount of miles I have paddled over the years is a lot since 1972. Word of advice. DUMP THAT SEAT!!! Its not allowing you to pivot correctly.
On the good side of things, those Miss Vickie’s chips are delicious! Paddle On!
I thought I was the only person who loved Cabin Boy! Great Video. cheers!
Your attitude in the wake of difficulty is extremely refreshing and inspiring!
Welcome to my hometown of Aitkin Minnesota!
DDR - that let’s everyone know your age, those older don’t know it and those younger haven’t heard of it either !!!! - great video again

Also you might want to consider a machete for clearing camping spaces when you have trouble finding an established site
My x’s grandma lived in Aitken. I would’ve brought you a danish if I still lived in MN.

"These Pipes Are Clean!"
This is probably a dumb question, but would it be possible to just float the canoe and not have to paddle so much?
