You are the second reactor that points out the mics were a mess in this particular performance. The other one was the vocal coach Adam Mishan. It really makes a difference when you lend a professional ear instead of just trying to make big face expressions to show an "interesting reaction". As a viewer this is what I look for. Give me some info about what you see/hear that i wouldn't know. Help me understand why a performance is great, so so or meh and whose fault was it. Because It makes a huge difference when the performer is unskilled, just having a bad day or simply being dragged down by the sound crew messing their job for the concert. Most people just point fingers at the performer on stage and do not realize many times the people behind (who are supposed to make them look good or sound good) are not doing their best, even when the artist does.
Great comment. I'm also picky with reactors. It's def more than just a hey, look at my face my reactions are "real" narrative. I agree 100%.
It just blows my mind that this stuff not only happens at concerts, but also award shows too. Remember the "Fake Love" performance last year, I think it was MMA? The vocal line was totally fine, actually they were probably louder than they should've been, but the rap line's mic levels were WAY too low, almost to the point that they were inaudible. This stuff is SO simple that it should NEVER happen too. Whether with compression, or further editing, etc., all you do is make sure that the live vocals stay within a certain range of the backing track. Any amateur can do this.

Leaning forward is a technique used by some vocalist to start belting high notes and what is jin doing is right
Some lean forward , some lean backwards. In Awake Jin leant backwards. So its just vocal techniques. Jin is vocally trained tho

Not an expert but a vocal coach once said jin's leaning forward posture is actually the right posture for high notes.
The vocal line brings the sweetness and too many invisible rose petals and hearts. The rap line brings the agressiveness, thunder and lightning in me.
And the entire squad is a roller coaster emotion. I love the mix. I love it!

For Dimple I found V's mic to be really low and with Jin leaning forward, I think it's to add more power to his voice. In other performances I've seen before it felt to me like his voice was lost in the backing track sometimes but in the last few months I've noticed his vocals standing out alot more which is great because I really like hearing him sing. Will view the second half of this tomorrow but enjoying the feedback/reaction.

Actually from what I remember from lessons I had with a vocal coach a while back, it's really not the best body positioning for belting to be leaning forward. You always wanna be upright & straight so your lungs aren't pressured or constricted in any way, allowing you the proper breath control. But Jin usually always sounds flawless even while doing that so if it works for him, that's all that matters.
@@erikuuhh I know crouching helps when belting so a lot of singers bend down a bit if not completely to help.
@@hina4500 Wouldn't crouching be more bending down or squatting with your legs though? Idk I've always been taught that you want your sternum to be upright & your head aligned over your body, not in front of, for the most "effortless" belts without strain. But obviously all singers do their own thing & have their own personal techniques that dont always follow the rule books. But it's generally not advised by professionals or teachers to bend forward over too much when belting.
It's kinda different for me, when I sing I don't follow rules that much. Sometimes I found that in some ways, following the rules doesn't max my performance and in Jin's case when he's belting. Idk bt I prefer my comfortness.
@@kikidee6741 Yeah every singer has their own techniques & don't always follow the "rules", as I said. As long as the product is coming out well. In Jin's case, it is. Singing is an art form & art has many different ways of being utilized. It's all up to the singer, but there's still general advice & things.

Finally someone mentioned the mics in the rapline!!! Most of the reactions I've seen were too whipped for the "sexy moves" :') and no one mentioned that you can barley hear the rapline properly.. anyway Jimin's vocals really stood out for me in these performances, and overall they all were amazing.
you probably won't even see this because this is such an old video but the bending forward thing that Jin did (which JK did as well on the high note later) is not always a bad thing. In some cases, it's said to cause strain yes. But in other cases, it helps to engage your core more so that you can push your voice out further and more powerfully (I suspect this has to do with losing power as you go higher because you need to transition between chest and head voice). Yea that's it. heh.

A vocal coach named Adam Mishan recated to bts live performance of magic shop and he said that bending forward when belting a high note was a good tecnique. Now i'm confused.
Yeah I have also heard from a lot of vocal coaches & was taugh by one as well that bending over when belting is not a good technique, so I've always thought that. Think maybe it's just a difference in teaching between them all? At the end of the day tho Jin still nails every note he has so I say he should keep doing whatever works for him lol

I remember this performance bias wrecking me hard. I am all about rap line but this, wow. They all did SO well. I agree though that Jin has the habit to lean forward when singing higher, it should make it harder. And yes, Tae’s wavy hair is everything

I think Jin leaning forward when he does his high notes is partly for technique and partly for the theatrics. When he does it for Epiphany live, Crystal Snow, and Stay Gold it added more feelings to the song, in my opinion. But then again, I am no expert, so. Hahaha

I'd like to point this out as it was mentioned before by my vocal coach. The part when you said Jin tends to lean forward a lot when belting out, that's his own way of getting that high note. It's called "Stress" if I may recall. Every person, esp. singer has that more comfortable/relaxed way/position that of reaching a high note. I notice it too in their other live performances. There are also singers who does a certain way too!
The performances I liked best are Magic shop and The truth untold from the bts soul concert (from the concert movie). I cried at the cinema. Also when it comes to live performances you need to watch some mamamoo live performances, these queens can sing live better than the recording
My favourite bts concert performances are idol, just dance, outro tear, dionysus, dimple and pied piper! :D

No it is absolutely not recommended. But without proper training it is a little difficult to reach the high notes without leaning forward. My assumption is that the vocal techniques to hit those high notes with a steady pose might not have worked in his favour and might have finalised on leaning forward. It is not bad. But it is not advisable.
