I highly recommend this tool.I bought it a yr and a half ago.It was more expensive than some other cutting sets but the reasons I would say to get this tool are;
- It has a good range of sizes, with the lrgst being lrgr than you can get on other cutters(unless you opt to buy the "v lrg",and then you usually only get 2).
- It is super easy to use and cuts cleanly.
- It's never hard getting the cutter out of the hole!
- It grips the metal as you cut.
I would never be without this! Love it!

If I was to get a hydraulic press to punch out 1-1.5mm copper disks, 50 and 80mm wide, how much tonnage would I need in a unit to do so?
How about punching sheet plastic? Say, for example, nylon 1/8" thick. Would you try that and post a report of your experience/results here?
Hi, Mike! Great question! Our Jewelry Tech Team says that you could probably cut a disc up to 1/16” thick in nylon with the Swanstrom Disc Cutter. 1/8” would be pushing it to the point where the nylon might crack. Let us know if we can provide any more information!

I am unable to use the second largest hole because of the handle. I tried moving the handle but still unable to hammer.
Push the button on top of the handle and swivel it aroundn(¼ or ½ a turn) then take your thumb off the button and keep swinging it a bit until it locks into place.

Can this punch out 18ga copper?
Thank you for the question. Yes, it will cut up to 16g when used with a mallet and up to 10g when used in a Bonny Doon press.
big talk about precision . i purchase one about 4-5 years ago with sign "PROUDLY MADE IN USA" then i find gap between hole and punch way bigger than should be . i have cutters purchased in europe about 30 years ago to compare --tight as " air tight "
I DID SEND IT BACK !! is ashame to talk about quality and precision when is so far from that ....i think it was lie .. i think it was made in china or india
