I was stationed in South Korea in 1997 and saw him live there. Best choice in the world and worth the Article 15 I received when I missed the bus back to base.
Im 27 but i always complain about not being an adult or teen in the 90s because i love singing in this style so i think of what if I wrote a hit song. Its kinda lame but songs like this make me so happy
i think the best version is the live at woodstock 1999. gavin had to be so frickin pumped playing in front of 100,000 plus people like that. talk about stagefright, gavin handled it like a pro
underrated??? I almost shit myself. 3 albums in the 90's, two of which were triple platinum, the other went platinum. You couldn't avoid hearing them on the radio and still do hear their music from the 90's today. Underrated, shaking my head. You want an underrated band from the 90's that the majority of you have never heard of...check out a band called Moist
Man this kills me. I've been playing guitar for nearly 20yrs. I dabble in everything from classical to blues to metal to country. I go from playing Lamb of God and Pearl Jam to playing Bob Seger and Jack Johnson. I play acoustic and sing every day AND FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CANNOT GET DOWN THE TIMING TO PLAY AND SING ANY BUSH SONG. It eats at me. The riffs aren't hard and neither is the flow of the lyrics, but I can't put them together. I can play and sing Alice in Chains all day or even Metallica or Pearl Jam or many many other bands...but somehow Bush has defeated me time and time again.
If it makes you feel any better, they'd probably like the imperfections. They played quite loose with rhythm and timing. And Nigel Pulsford's licks are really weird and awkward if you're trying to capture their sound and it's hard to hear him over the mixing even with slow-down apps. I'm a hobbyist and not great, but some of Bush's tracks were the first I learned on guitar. Machinehead is, for me, very accessible!
A true love affair with that Jazzmaster! To me, this is one of those rare songs that captures a very elusive emotional state sonically, which is the only way really to trap that elusive beast. Add the haunting lyrics and wrenching vocal delivery, and this is just an exceptional piece of art that does what art does best--conveys truth.
Thank you, kind sir. I can see it’s a love beyond others. It entrenches itself, attached to your heart, kind of like filling in a part of your heart with a like half finished metal mold. You can see the shell half done and it looks fantastic but it will never be completed. Yet we go on. Because of the very nature of it.
The video is online for 10 month now and it has less than 60ß0 likes. What is wrong? What happenend? The video is so intimate, because Gavin looks you in the eye and there is so few resonance? Makes me more sad than the song itself made me sad and this song is the essence of all my past and present depression.
Man, I must be in the minority. It sounds like crap. It sounds like a Fender rip off, with china pickups, through a china amp. Way way way too overdriven and necky. And I like PUNK music, of all things. The king of OD pickups. Just sounds off.
@@Cheezy_Bunz It sounds too overdriven and muddy. It doesn't have the sweet mellow tone that the neck pickup should at that sort of hollow distortion. It sounds like a crappy pickup or even a decent one through a really cheap home amp. There's no warmth or clarity.
This song gives me a very distinct yet unexplainable feeling in the pit of my stomach. It Reminds me of when I was a teenager, life was simpler yet it felt so complicated. I love this song but dude, that was a rough version.
It's nice to see finally that the sound has always been the middle position with the two pickups together. I remember being a kid, having my first guitar, not knowing exactly why Bush's guitar sound was different from other bands and the typical rock guitar sound. Years later I figured it out, but here we finally have confirmation by looking at the pickup selector switch.
You really think he's done it the same way every time for 30 years? No chance. Also, every pickup sounds different so that combination wouldn't work the same on every guitar.
*¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡""THIS SONG IS MY FAVORITE ALTERNATIVE ROCKSONG OF AL-TIME, ""WHEN I HEAR IT MANYTHINGS GO THROUGH MY HEAD, ""THE GUITAR AND THE-EFFECT OF THEAMP IN THISCASE HAS-BECOME ICONIC""!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
So, I knew of Gavin Rossdale (Constantine) and I assumed he was a model I didn’t know too much about and left it at that. THEN I saw someone’s TikTok of 90’s grunge and it was this song! This had happened within the last week and I’m ashamed to have never heard of Bush prior to TikTok 🤦🏽♀️ This is absolute 🔥🔥🔥
The streets blind maybe i could feel could feel. Why taste. Days go bye so wanted that so it. Just u. Justu. Just u gleccerine so cool. Shout. Rocks. Shout out.
It’s sad that you and Eddie Vedder are the only voices of the 90s left. Please write a new one like Glycerine and bring the 90s back just a little bit I miss it so much
It's funny how well like the studio recording it sounds, considering it doesn't actually have any other instruments, kinda cheating lol but still amazing as usual!
It's a standard tuning it juat sounds really bassy and grungy because he's playing through the neck pickup and into a Russian Pickle fuzzbox with a Fender bassman amp.
I used to brush off Bush in 90s because I am a big Nirvana fan and I felt Bush was a knockoff Nirvana and Rossdale as a Cobain wannabe. Now, I appreciate their music more. This is nostalgic. Good band at their time in the perfect era. What more could you ask for. And their songs are really catchy and melodic, extra thanks to Nigel Pulsford
It amazing how much this song affects so many people emotionally. It's like everyone has a story that goes with this song
I was stationed in South Korea in 1997 and saw him live there. Best choice in the world and worth the Article 15 I received when I missed the bus back to base.
This song is part of the soundtrack of my life, and for so many. This version is so cool...
Saw them at the first Buzzfest in The Woodlands in 1995. Wow, those were the days. Who would have thought I would miss the 90s so much?
90s was the best decade for many more things than just music
Im 27 but i always complain about not being an adult or teen in the 90s because i love singing in this style so i think of what if I wrote a hit song. Its kinda lame but songs like this make me so happy
Aye I’m in the woodlands 🔥 that concert was 2 years before I was born tho lmao
@dysmental, can we go back, go back to the 90's I mean
Probably the best live version I’ve heard of this cut, probably because Gavin himself was feeling the nostalgia so hard at this weird point in time
i think the best version is the live at woodstock 1999. gavin had to be so frickin pumped playing in front of 100,000 plus people like that. talk about stagefright, gavin handled it like a pro
@@johnwhitt I think he was more concerned with trying to keep the crowd from rioting, tbh 😂
Honestly, Bush is the most underrated band of the 90s
Definitely - but I’m putting Blur above on underrated when Song #2 is such an outlier of songs for them
Blur were never underrrated... what are you talking about? It was always between them and Oasis for the best British band in the 90's@@mikegualjr

Literally just saw Bush and Breaking Benjamin tonight!!!! Gavin’s an awesome performer he walked through the crowds and sang it was so awesome
I saw Bush in Hawaii. I was absolutely blown away when it was just him and his guitar when they(he) did this song.
That awesome that you were able to see him.

I love Laura.
Its the split timing.
Hey man, keep practising or woman gender unimportant practice is
Lol, i know what you mean. I was like i'll learn this song real quick and nope, the timing of doing both is super awkward. gonna work on it right now.
Like a fine wine.... my God!👌

Agreed!
Man, that was incredibly pretentious for someone talking about "truth".
I am commenting on the music--you are completely somewhere else.
The Jazzmaster screams 90s. Best era ever.
This song... I first heard it on some Sony headphones when I was 15... It was so amazing, and I still love it. Good to see you doing this Gavin.

I was looking for a cover of Glycerine but 100% of covers are acoustic, apparently the only electric cover is by Gavin Rossdale himself
It's funny how well like the studio recording it sounds, considering it doesn't actually have any other instruments, kinda cheating lol but still amazing as usual!
Ilov u Gavin... Bush sound best..
Great use of a jazzmaster
That purple Jazzmaster is the same guitar he recorded Sixteen Stone with. Also same guitar that was previously owned by Joe Walsh of the Eagles.
Yes sir I want to say that’s the rhythm circuit he’s using for this song but I’m not sure. Definitely a fun song to play on mine.
💯%🔥❗️
show de bola!
Guitar tune?
Standard tuning
It's a standard tuning it juat sounds really bassy and grungy because he's playing through the neck pickup and into a Russian Pickle fuzzbox with a Fender bassman amp.
My guy loaded. Even his tshirt has air conditioning.
Doesn't matter if he's live or on CD .....his voice sounds absolutely the same. He has built in auto tune in his voice.

Maybe u tryng 2 say 'british', right? Yep: Gavin it's a british guy..
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMista Beannnn
damn his voice is fucked after so many years of doing vocal fry constantly

Can we please discuss how Gwen Stefani traded in this piece of man meat for Blake Shelton? Like what the fuck???
He still fine.

I can hear imaginary violins 🙃
U fucked up with Gwen gav I’m a fan of u and your music but fuck dude why😭
Sounds like a bad cover band 🤣 tune the guitar first ffs
Grunge has never been about perfection
Piss off m8
Um it's his song to begin with. So he can mess it up as much as he likes
He was just nervous at the start and pressing the frets a bit hard
Well damn. He nailed that. Really good performance of this song.
JAAAAAZZZZZZMASTAH!!!😍🤩
