- Old school cars. I ended up crushing the bones in my right foot. The block mounted gas pedal I was using did it. Ended up bending my steering wheel also. Got hit head on from a caddy full track.

From over the yrs of being in the Derby and goin to tons and tons of derbies best thing ya can do is use the rear of the car aslong as ya can. Save the front end for the last. Stick to a corner where your passenger side isn't exposed. Back up and make your hits then go straight back to the corner. That way your passenger side don't get best to heck and if someone hits on the driver side they have to watch where they hit since the drivers door is there. So less likely of a big hit. Dont go out full throttle off the bat, get on it some making your hits. Want to keep your engine temp down as much as ya can so it don't overheat. Sometimes it's hard to do all that once your strapped in and the drop the green flag. Ya get tunnel vision and want to go all out. Wait till it's you and the last car then go nuts. It's a adrenaline rush like ya have never felt before.
My brother did it and his head came off, was still inside the helmet when they scraped it off the track

Have you ever seen the banger racing in the UK. It’s so much better, there’s a racing aspect and there’s much harder hits as they go over 10mph
were they running on "BLACKTOP???", when you run on "WET MUD" you really cannot get moving very fast!!!!

Once ya do it the first time your hooked. There is no other rush that compares to the derby. It's been a yr since I broke my foot and wasn't gonna do it anymore but it's an addiction so there will be atleast another run for me.

Just depends on what ya want to build. Can cost a few hundred for a gut and go car up to 5k to 10k. Just depends on how deep your pocket runs. Ya can have 3k to 5k just n a mild built engine and trans. I've seen some 10k engines. So ya can find a cheap car that runs and drives and run it as it is. Or ya can find a car that ya add your engine and trans too like most of the guys I run with do. Once the car is finished pull it all back out and get it ready for the next car.

Ya there was alot of stuff in this car that could have been done better. But it was the budget build. Got the car for free and taped and bandaid it together to run it. But it is what it is. I will be back next yr with a better set up. And no more damn block mounted gas pedal forsure.

It was def carnage forsure. Well atleast my foot haha. But building another car for possibly 2020. Mid 90s Towncar. But changing some stuff up for it so hopefully no more broken bones

It’s fun and it gives you an adrenaline rush
it makes you a real good "DRIVER", I learned a lot from it, however you are "STIFF" and body parts do "HURT" for a while, and when you get older the "PAINS" begin to last longer and longer, until you realize that it is time to "HANG IT UP!!!!".

@@michaelcase865 Pop a Holly 4412 2brl on it. It will run like a rocket. An wont skip and sputter which those 4brls do when they are jarred hard or when they get hot. The valves inside them get jared open or closed either starving or flooding the engine. 2Brls off plenty of HP and eliminate 95% of those issues.
My only question, why would you spend the money on a tach for that thing..
Well it was for a 94 firebird that I had awhile back and never used. That's why.
I like running a tach for the shift light, set it real low when it dies the lights out. Might sound dumb but sometimes hard to tell if your running or not. Good video

No it was an Edelbrock 4brl. Was having problems with it when I put it on. Should have went back to my 2 brl Rochester
Should have put in a off-road kit. That’s all I run and they are great

No I won't be running anymore. My work insurance don't cover the derby so when I got hurt I had a $160k medical bill. So I will just be there video taping it from now on. My brother and a buddy of mine still run.

what are the lines running into the headers?
They are the crankcase evac. It keep the pressure down inside the engine. Plus pulls heat out of the valve covers . Most older engines would have had a cap with a hose on it goin back into the carb and reuse anything coming out. This system is used on alot of demo cars. I've been running this set up for bout 12-14 yrs or so.

It was a 86 Cutless Supreme. I could if ran it n the mid size if I hadn't put a 350 v8 n it. But I ran with the stock class. Had the car gave to me from our local tow company for free

having done this, it is typical that you wait to the last second to start building the car( pulling all nighters) .

It had a cage in it and that wasnt the issue. Goin to a cable gas pedal instead of the block mounted one.

Believe it or not been running that same cage for the last 10 years or so. I do have better cage material for this year's car. Doin things diff this yr and will have a better car to work with. Goin with a mid 90s town car. So things should work out better then the last car.
