He is a breathtaking Oneguin, the charakter seems tailor made for him.His splendid voice with the darkness the character kneeds and in the same time, like velvet and his acting ability is stunning 🎶🎵🙌🙏👏
Cudowny głos, wielka siła i slodycz. Jestem zachwycona. Mariusz Kwiecien jest tez wspaniały aktorsko, oprócz kunsztu śpiewaczego. Najwyższe wyrazy uznania, jestem z Pana dumna!
My previous benchmark Onegin was Hvorostovsky, and Kwiecien is another. He brings an elegant diffidence to the role. The last few soft phrases are exquisite.
what I like about this singer-besides his obvious stage charisma and great voice-- is his use of interior acting he uses--he's an actor's singer--look how he twirls the chair around like he is twirling with Tatiana's feelings--that's brilliant--its the subtect--its playing not saying as my acting coach would say
Fantastic stage presence and vocal technique from Mariusz. I loved his Onegin opposite Anna Netrebko at the 5th October HD transmission from Met. They both made my day (or rather night). What I liked most about Mariusz as Onegin, apart from his outstanding vocal skills, was tonnes of masculinity he transmitted, so I could easily believe Tatiana falling in love with him at first sight. By the way, his Russian is excellent, with only a slight accent.
Yes, his voice is a bit more lyrical, but what a beautiful, even lyric voice it is, especially because of this great legato singing he has. Granted, when forced it loses some of its quality, but Kwiecien's voice has a distinctively noble quality.
Well. He IS a man portraying a man. I heard many notes that could've been tenderized (made pretty). BUT he's a man portraying a man. Life is often 'not' pretty for man. Yet there were lush moments from the pit. (A statement about . . . what a piece of work is man -- how in apprehension, how like an angel?)
Yes. I have never heard him sing Rossini, but maybe... His voice has a very viril, manlike tone but it ist still very even, smooth and velvety, and I like this "noble", as I said, quality a lot. It also fits lyric Slavic roles perfectly, including Onegin, which requires mostly a great lyrical tone and legato and not sheer power, with the exception of a few more dramatic passages...
He's committed to the material, and he's flexible-- Eugene isn't just a bully here. The director had him drinking A LOT--smart choice, since some drunks get kind of mean and dangerous. The first scene didn't play well--there has to be some incredible charisma or gallant manners he walks in with, and Tatiana needs to respond with almost hysterical sensitivity--she hasn't seen much. Cool production.

I should say that the first scene played extremely well, with mother and nanny. Wow. Couldn't be better. Onegin's entrance didn't quite work. Most of this production did, in MHO. :)
His voice is beautiful and he makes some lovely sounds, but I find he's lacking legato here and the voice sounds either tired or pushed at times and consequently flat.
Great voice but in every performance I see him in I feel like their is a lack of connection w/ me and him. He doesn't draw me into the performance like I would like him too. But, wonderful talent none the less.

Every Polish should be pround of Mariusz Kwiecień, as I am. Drogi panie Mariuszu, życzę dalszych sukcesów!
DK Talenta brilliant
Mariusz Kwiecień is so great.
Edle Stimme. Idealer Onegin.
Bravo
I just learned of his retirement 💔 still my favorite Onegin and I am so grateful I got to see the stream of this production. 😭
A complete artist. What a pleasure he is.
My previous benchmark Onegin was Hvorostovsky, and Kwiecien is another. He brings an elegant diffidence to the role. The last few soft phrases are exquisite.

Peter Mattei Paris.... sorry. Pan Mariusz jest oczywiscie b. dobry.

Beautiful voice!
Marvellous !! Thanks !!!!!

Yes, he is an actor and a singer too ! He uses his glance, his cinic and cold glance, with much skillness ...
Anybody who thinks of opera as a play is missing the point.
I've known opera as an art about singing, not twirling chairs. I suppose it has changed a lot.
He's everything!!! Oh such a great art!!!! Superlative!!!!!
Mariusz is so handsome and such a beautiful voice!
His voice is really average! No depth at all! Every phrase he sings it sounds the same. He basically yells instead of sings.
kocham pana, panie Mariuszu w roli Oniegina!
I was sad to hear that he had to retire because of back problems.
Pity he’s retired from singing in operas because of the injury he sustained. He’s a favorite of mine. Excellent stage actor as well.
Agreed. His lyricism is inspiring.
What injury if I may ask?
Vollkommen! Mein Gott, Mariusz Kwiecien!
In this version, the interpretation of Oneguin is similar to Don Giovanni. Kwiecien is perfect for the stage director.

He had me at "Kogda." Yes, how tenderly he breaks her heart.
My all time favorite Onegin will always be Dimitri Hvorostovsky. But Kwiecien is really great. I always love it when a singer is a decent actor too.
I'm feeling proud to be Polish while listening to his gorgeous voice.
Najlepszy.... the Best.... prawie idealny.... super...
A great Onegin! This performance is extremely promising.
If Kwiecien were ill, he still did a a good job. The very first time I heard this, it was performed by another great baritone: Andrzej Hiolski.
Yes, his voice is a bit more lyrical, but what a beautiful, even lyric voice it is, especially because of this great legato singing he has. Granted, when forced it loses some of its quality, but Kwiecien's voice has a distinctively noble quality.

Quelle belle voix !
Magnificent 😘
What an excellent voice

Mariusz is the best!
Netrebko też nic nie brakuje;)))
Hot dude.
1:22-1:48 сlarinet solo is precious
Dalszych sukcesów.
They are all amazing ;) greetings from DK
True delight;Polish young baritone sings in Russian to Russian sexy soprano romantic music of Chaykofsky
zajebiste!
Olga was amazing.

I should say that the first scene played extremely well, with mother and nanny. Wow.

Pan. Mariusz wystepowal w Halce st moniuszki w. Toronto 1995 r wraz z polonijnym chores, symfonia,
you got that right.
if only he sang ALL the notes in tune 😍
He was just released from hospital, and was full of painkillers just to move on stage. Have mercy
Wspanialy glos.

Anyone else notice the early flute at 0:26? Lol
too slow... Marius obviously was not in the best form but mobilized himself for a beautiful pianissimo at the end. Respect!
It's not like you people can sing, you really need to stop judging so harshly
His voice is beautiful and he makes some lovely sounds, but I find he's lacking legato here and the voice sounds either tired or pushed at times and consequently flat.
Oh soo hunky.
Great voice but in every performance I see him in I feel like their is a lack of connection w/ me and him. He doesn't draw me into the performance like I would like him too. But, wonderful talent none the less.
*o*
Noooo nooo nooo
How actually BAD is his “singing”
Terrible.
horrible the baritone!
His chief asset is his good looks.
