I'm 16 I just bought a manual is200, honestly happy I didn't go for the 300 w the auto only trans and worse fuel economy, still the extra speed would be nice
Dude, I love how YOU totally love your car! I'm starting to mess around with my Lexuses at the ripe ol age of 52. Was a V dub fan back in the day but there wasn't really alot of AFFORDABLE stuff for my 3 rabbit gtis(mark 1) lol. Messed around with NEUSPEED a little but the best stuff was ABT was way too expensive while raising my children. My first Lexus was my 98 GS400. After that car (still have), I was totally ADDICTED lol. Picked up an 01 IS next. THEN, found a low mileage GS 300 that I bartered for a rifle believe it or not lol. AND, now I still want an SC lol. Your videos really help as I'm trying to turbo the IS300. Btw THIS video was different but cool and I'd like to see more like this. Your videos kind of make us guys seem like family to you which is very cool. Keep up the great work brother!
Thanks bro! Appreciate you taking your time to watch the videos. I hope you decide to stick around! I’ve had a few VWs, to which my mK2 GLI I loved. So fun to drive, had a few abt mods on it.
Thank you for the inspirational and informative IS300 video. Been a huge fan of this ride since the year of its introduction. Was lucky to catch, bid, win and scoop one up completely factory stock, but already dropped and lowered on springs by previous owner at an auto action in manual tranny, blue exterior and same black original interior that you installed - 2002 Lexus IS300 / manual. Owned it now for about eight years and still got same big love for it. Done various mods, maintenance and upgrades. Always a thrill to drive this beautiful, wild, little beast. Every time and been gettin love and respect from like minded enthusiasts. 1st generation IS is my fave and has been my dream ride for years and years. Distinctive, unique, classy, fun, naughty, elegant, with contagious attitude, radiatin confidence, risk and passion. Dreams come true if the feelin is real and true.
Sweet man! Glad to hear the passion you have for this platform. It definitely is a great car with a good chassis to build on. It’s a shame that they are getting hacked up to drift and what not but there are still a handful of nice ones around where I’m at.
Man I want this car so bad… I just started saving money for one. How much should I be expecting to pay for one in good condition? Great video by the way, just made me want one even more!
Lol, my bad. Just close your eyes while you watch. Pricing is going to vary depending on where you live. Around where I live a good condition IS300 will run around 4-6k for automatics (higher if they are low mileage) and around 7-10k for manuals. That seems to be the general range for these around my area. I bought mine for $3k about 3 years ago.
@@Knownworldwide Wow, I wish… Yeah, I live in NJ, I see some going for 6k but usually with terrible paint and ~150k miles. Would I have issues with those or should I save 10k for a decent one?
@@ant-alltime well honestly in your area I would probably be more concerned about rust than anything else. I understand that sometimes it’s just unavoidable and you get what you can. However, I would try and buy the nicest one you can afford that runs and drives. 6k for that mileage isn’t bad as long as it runs good and there isn’t rust.
@@ant-alltime of course bro! Feel free to check out any other videos on the channel and I appreciate you taking the time to watch the videos in the first place.
Loved the video, I always find myself watching these even though I’m on by 3rd Is300 now😂. I finally ended up in a manual without breaking the bank and they’re amazing cars. I wish they came with a 1j or a gte though
Hey thanks for watching! The prices of these cars are crazy these days! Especially manual ones. Not sure why they didn’t come with a turbocharged engine but I bet as a company it was to keep thé manufacturing cost down to be able to produce a lower cost vehicle to the public.
I'm really liking the content so far. Keep it coming. The mileage on that 2JZ is surprisingly low. I have a '96 Maxima with the VQ30 (stock V6) and on highway trips, if I over inflate the tires just 2-3 psi, I can get 30+ mpg.
Thanks! Appreciate your support! I used to have a couple of those maximas. I do recall them being able to drive for 300k miles without any real trouble.
driving our 2003 manual is still such fun, gas milage I dont know man, it gets ok for what it is... car is perfect power to weight, I see all the stuff to supe it up and Im just not sure its even a thing... Only thing I would wish is maybe a 6th gear for top end down the highway... Bottom line its a freakin Toyota and will run forever :)
i hate the stock radio system trying install rear speakers and a new headunit is a headache. also putting led brake lights with no resistors trigger some lights on the dash
The reason you can’t go in 1st gear is because the E shift is max possible gear, it will always start in 1st but there’s no reason to set 1st as the max possible gear when you can select L on the shifter. It’s not a true manual mode for the auto
I bought one at the age of 32, and swapped a 3UZ and 6MT. Stupidest decision ever made in my life so far, but better feel dumb than regret down the road.
I just buy my is300 and I use for a week before star misfire 💀😂😂 and for me the gas mile wasn’t that bad I don’t know if is because I have a 5.0 but men I love that car and I don’t eventually drive it 😂😂
5.0 coyote? Misfires on is300 are pretty common. Get in there and change out the plugs, make sure the coil pack connections aren’t broken (bet they are) and enjoy it again!
Well there is a high chance that the frame is tweaked out of position and that’s making the wheel appear pushed back. You would need to Jack up the car and have a look underneath for any bent or broken suspension pieces as well.
@@islapcats2414 well there are frame pullers at shops and they can probably get it back to where it needs to be but that is generally very expensive to go that route. It would be in your best interest to first have a look for yourself under the car on that bad side and see if anything is bent or obviously damaged.
I have a DC sports Intake and a factory L-Tuned muffler. Stock cats, stock mid pipe. Just a muffler out back. Not sure if you have watched any other videos of mine but definitely check them out if you get a chance! I’m definitely upgrading now!
Just bought an is300 with 90k miles. still being fixed and almost ready to drive.
Sweet! You’ve picked a winner! Auto or manual?
I'm 16 I just bought a manual is200, honestly happy I didn't go for the 300 w the auto only trans and worse fuel economy, still the extra speed would be nice
We didn’t get those here in the states. Those have a 1G-FE engine right? I know they make turbo kits for those motors as well.

Manual swap is great if your able to, it's like a totally different car with the Manual transmission

You could always swap in a V160 for an extra gear if you want it. Good luck getting one for cheap though.
I think for now we just keep her stock, one owner, 120,000 miles, cars a unicorn :P

i hate the stock radio system trying install rear speakers and a new headunit is a headache. also putting led brake lights with no resistors trigger some lights on the dash
Stock system just needs the factory amp bypassed. Yeah the light warning thing is annoying. You could wire in resistors.
Now I want an is300….

forgot to mention the annoying cup holders haha. hate when my cup holder gets stuck to my cup
