We can do it more easily. ie convert 29 to Gray code. Round the quotient to the nearest integer:
    29/2=15 odd 1
    29/4=7 odd 1
    29/8=4 even 0
    29/16=2 even 0
    29/32=1 odd 1
    (29/64

Much simpler : gray(n) = n^(n/2), where ^stands for the XOR operator in almost any programming langage.
The inverse gray code is also named "parity integration". It is a bit more complex but still faster than comparing bit by bit :
    invGray(n) = g2n(0,n)
    g2n(0,n) = (n

Binary to gray in C/JavaScript syntax: `((n & 1 1)` where `bits` is the number of bits in the code... the other way around is more annoying, which is why typically it is done with a lookup table.
