Great band, this song is fun. This band has been around a long time and have an extensive catalog. Ive seen them live once and hope to catch them again this year on their US tour.

'Henkselipoika' is one of their slower songs. 'Ämmänhauta' one of their mythological songs. Korpiklaani is one of the so-called 'Big 5' of Finnish Folk Metal. The other four are Ensiferum, Turisas, Moonsorrow and Finntroll. Amorphis with their album 'Tales from the Thousand Lakes' (1994) is regarded as their godfather.

@@SueSueandthewolfmanTaking influence and covering traditional songs, hymns etc. as Rock songs wasn't a new thing, but there was some sort of a Folk Music boom in the 90s in Finland, which inspired bands. Värttinä was one of the groups, which popularized Finnish/Karelian Folk Music at the time. In 2005 they signed with Peter Gabriel's Real World Records label: "Värttinä - Tupa täynnä tuppasuita", "Donegal Varttina-Interview" and "GeeZeRWoD Värttinä - Kiiriminna". Bands from different genres were tampering with Folk Music. E.g. Quentin Tarantino and Al Jourgensen are fans of this band: "Laika & The Cosmonauts - Kiiriminna (1992)". Leningrad Cowboys peaked with their Total Balalaika show: "10 - Desconsolado - Leningrad Cowboys Go America [***VIDEO CUTE***]" and "HQ - Leningrad Cowboys - Give Me All Your Loving - Total Balalaika Show". Cross-genre Metal band Waltari was experimenting with different genres, including traditional Sámi music and Symphonic: "Waltari feat. Angelin Tytöt - So Fine (official music video, HQ, 1080p)" and "Waltari - Helsinki 22.08.1995 (TV) Live & Interview". Loituma released this Folk song: "My Kantele (Eriskummainen kantele) - Loituma". Amorphis was experimenting: "Amorphis - My Kantele (Acoustic Jyrki Tv Show Live 1996)". There's a department of Folk Music in Sibelius Academy. That's one place where things brew. Loituma was founded there. Also Apocalyptica: "Apocalyptica - Enter Sandman (live 1997)". A Finnish American song: "Sibelius Folk Big Band - Kaivantomjehen laulu" and "Kaivantomiehen laulu [Miner's Song] by Santeri Mäkelä (performed by Laulu Aika)". Also Frigg with their Nordgrass has roots there: "Frigg - Kekripolska | Seirm | BBC ALBA". Frigg has roots also in Kaustinen Folk Music tradition: "Kaustislainen viulunsoitto - UNESCO-hakemusvideo / Kaustinen Fiddle Playing UNESCO nomination video". From the Kaustinen Music Festival: "Näppärit2017 Kaustinen : Stand By Me ( Ben E. King)" and "Polketti Tärviöltä LIVE at KAUSTINEN 2023". Regional national costumes go with the music: "Kansallispukukooste 3 passthebrushchallenge". And dancing: "Seurasaari tanssii. Folk Dancing in Seurasaari". Also Sibelius himself took influence from the Folk Music tradition: "Pekka Kuusisto’s hilarious Proms encore - My Darling Is Beautiful", "Sibelius's Roots: An Interview with Pekka Kuusisto & Ilona Korhonen (Philharmonia Orchestra)" and "Violinist Heimo Haitto, Sibelius Serenade In G Minor Op.69". Choir singing is popular. A choir performing a Karelia region song: "Naiskuoro Resonus - Karjalan kunnailla". A cappella groups come with choirs: "LOITUMA: IEVAN POLKKA - Music video 2024", "Rajaton - Talventyttö ajaa Suomen halki - Live at Finlandia Hall Helsinki" and "Club For Five : Brothers In Arms". A documentary on which a Finnish Metal music pioneer Kimmo Kuusisto demonstrates how Folk and Metal are the same: "Finland - Promised Land of Heavy Metal (2008)".

🇫🇮 I told you it was kinda somewhere between Steve n Seaguls and Alestorm, only in Finnish. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Haircut and beard look great Wolfman! T-shirts look good! SueSue should have stood up and danced with the tambourine since it was ‘dancy’ 💃🏻. Happy channelversary, again✌🏼 Keep up the good work!

@@SueSueandthewolfmanIf you want to react to more Korpiklaani, I'd recommend "Ennen" (Anthrax cover) or "Mylly" (and not just because I like to hear how you pronounce it).

Hello Darlings and thanks for Your reaction! Kiitos!
I'm feeling a bit lazy so I'm recycling my comment from another channel (Wyldeside with Eric Clarke):
    -----------------
Last autumn (fall?) I was flying home to my family from Helsinki to Prague. At the the gate before boarding I noticed several kind of rough looking gentlemen amongst the passengers. They were seated at the behind of the plane, as was I. From the overheard conversations I found out, that the guys were from the bands Turmion Kätilöt & Korpiklaani, who were on route to Pilsen for Pilsen Metalfest. Now I'm not the youngest or prettiest Finnboy either, so at some point of the flight one flight stewardess asked me, at what time our gig starts in the evening, mistaking me as one of the band members. Well I had to confess that I'm no turmion kätilö, or a member of Korpiklaani, despite looking like the part... At least my wife got a laugh from that.
    -------------------------
Anyways, Korpiklaani has some excellent stuff out there!
Congratulations on Your Two Year Tubeversary!, or what was it called...
Anyways, You are on a Roll, so keep 'em reactions coming and have a great day!

That was fast. I don’t think I would survive playing anything that fast. As a dance it would have to be the last one cause no one would survive.
Nice hair cut. Sporting it well. I only listened. Take care. Great start to year 3.

Great band. Little bit on the " funny side" of Finnish folk metal. Amazing live band. They have great songs about Finnish folklore and ancient history. They have also worked with many other artists like Marko recording his songs at their home studio. I think you did "BelowZero"?
