Vesa Matti Loiri was an exceptionally talented man. He was an actor, singer, dancer. He lived his life in a very bohemian manner to the very end. He passed 10th August 2022. It was told by his friends that he was not the slightest afraid of dying. He believed in after life, or incarnation. He was a very spiritual man. Possibly not religious but spiritual. He spent a lot of time in the Northern part of Finland, in Lappland. He loved the nature, the quiet and peace.
@@Aurinkohelmi Probably why Uncle Nasse was allowed to stay on the air only, if he wore a false nose big enough to cover his face: "Nasse-Setä - XXL-nenä".

If you find it, hope you like it ;) Sadly Loiri passed away two years ago :( He was my hero. And this video is not from a movie, its a from a tv show called Spede Show :)
This song, originally a country song from the States, 1953, called Gambler's Guitar was the best-selling single record in Germany from 1957 by Fred Bertelmann. It was called Der lachende Vagabund (The laughing tramp). Here the singer is parodying French night-club artists. Your song, the Italian patriotic 1858 Paolo Giorza 'risorgimento' tune is called La Bella Gigogin (Teresina). It was directed by the Milanese against the prevailing Austrian rule of the time and became very popular. I've heard the Gigliola Cinquetti.

It was a custom to make finnish versions from popular songs back in the day. This is one of them while being comedy one. Song called roughly "I'm a finn" (Olen suomalainen by Kari Tapio, this is considered as "patriotic" song) is remake from song called L'Italiano. Great video. Thank you.

Loiri was an incredibly talented performer ❤ He did many comedic roles, and from what I've heard it made him feel trapped for deacades in the 80's and 90's as a "funny entertainer" in the work he was offered. I think he was good at the comedy but at his very best at the drama. Apparently he'd said, before he died few years back (he had health issues, he knew that he was going) that he is curious to see what comes next ❤
Loiri was a menace, he had 4 finnish championships in differend fields. Which is why he could also be very athletic comic with like jumping and falling around. Three was from waterball and one for handball, yes niche fields but it's not easy to get even local championship at anything. He was on finnish national series football team as a goalie (would have most likely made like global national team if he had time to play as the nr.1 thing, he only did one full finnish professional season). Took boxing seriously enough to have 3 showmatches that he won 2 of those, those wasn't any dive matches just to say.. but wanting to push himself and see what would happen. this is a classic, starts as a fake laughter, you think nahh horrible, but then it developes, suddenly it's not so fake, and soon not fake at all, actually, you're crying of laughter.
There's funny story behind the characters for this show. Loiri wanted to make parody about french chancon singers and specially of famous Jean-Claude Pascal. The funny thing comes from Pascal's name as it sounds in finnish ears that someone is literally taking a shit. To match with that, he ended to have a character name Kusela which is close to finnish word kusella meaning to urinate. Jazz pianist Olli Ahvenlahti plays character Puppe, gay pianist from Sweden. Not surprisingly, when they had band in some songs, the band also was called Tunnelbana Pojkar (Tunnelbana Boys), which refers to Stockholms metro/underground where young gays hooked up in the seventies and eighties before AIDS crisis. In the eighties you could joke about these kind of things without fear of cancellation or woke and swedes were always joked to be gays in jokes by finns. Loiri also had very popular female character Tyyne Syväskökkö-Lipasti.
There is a classic comedy bit from a show called Velipuolikuu, called "Pääsiäishanukas", which is equally absurd, and somehow very Finnish. I know it's available somewhere with English subtitles, but I couldn't find where. The Finnish version is on YT.
I was surprised when a Finnish children's song became a disco hit in Italy in the 90s. In Italian, you can't understand anything about the lyrics, and it's mostly nonsense in Finnish too. It's so interesting that e.g. in Finland, the same form is used for Italian cities as in Italy, with some exceptions. For example, The Ladies' Paradise is Milanon naisten paratiisi (Milan's Paradise of ladies) in Finnish.

Loiri was amazing comedian and singer. And in Jean Pierre Kusela's role he kidna showed off both of his talents. And despite this clip is old... it still makes people laugh. You might consider this gem as the ultimate try not to laugh challenge. This performance wasn't in a movie, it was in TV-comedy series called Spede Show and also later in Vesku Show. -It kinda is sad that majority of best comedy ever made in Finland was made in late 70 to 90s. I don´t wanna be a party pooper, but you will NEVER understand fully Uuno Turhapuro, or other Vesamatti Loiri scenes. He uses so much words, that are unusual and funny to us Finns too. They can´t be translated at any languages. But if you get some fun of it anyways, that is nice. You just lack much.

They are mocking french singer Jean Claude Pascal. And you know that Paska means in finnish shit. Kusela infers to piss, so there is a little joke in his name.
I want to react to your reaction of Israel song to the Eurovision. The reason I'm reacting here because you close the comment section.... if you want to spread love don't talk about something You don't know. Talk about music. You should educate yourself a little bit more about the situation what happened in October in Israel... You have 77,000 followers be responsible and understand the situation better don't follow the crowd. They don't know where is the sea and where is the river Don't be one of them
The main point of closing the comment section in that video was that nobody understood my point and i was attacked for it by basically everyone or applauded by pro palestinians . I don't favor anyone in an armed conflict , and mine was a critique to the Eurovision policy reguarding the exclusion of Russia from its competition. Their motive was of the invasion of Russia on another country, Israel did do the same, I don't see how this could result as a fake news... i am not saying they did not have a reason to do so, i am just saying it happened and this is just being ignored showing the lack of intellectual honesty by the organization. Correct me if im wrong, i look forward to see your video, we are all humans if we make a mistake it's good to be thought what that was and learn from it.
You do realize that my critique was to the Eurovision commitee and it is not towards Israel or the conflict? I compared their reasoning because both countries did invade another country , so since Russia was excluded for doing so, i don't see a reason to not behave in the same manner now. I never condamned any political decision , my heart goes to all the family of the people that were killed during the terrorist attack by Hamas and also to all the people in the world that has to suffer because of any armed conflict.

You just lack much.
.. just a followup.. You will get these if you get some idea of what is going on.. BUT mandatarory is getting ... what's that about.. since... well ask anyone minimum 40-- also not A movie..
😆😆😆😆😆😆

The original is "Gambler's Guitar" by Jim Lowe (1953). His laugh is really forced compared to this.

They are mocking french singer Jean Claude Pascal. And you know that Paska means in finnish shit.
Kusela infers to piss, so there is a little joke in his name.

I'm 70, and we lauhgt with Loiri here in Finland when I was young.
Thank you for this video, and I appreciate your work.
I always hated this and it was never funny for me.
The main point ...you compare Israel to Russia and this is your mistake. Israel got attacked on October 7..... You should apologize
