😂 yup, Bob Ross indeed! Ever make mistakes in live? Let’s make them riffs . Yeah, they’re riffs now. We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.
Dude you are the man! The music fans guitar teacher. Still cant believe you were talking LILYS one episode. Your taste is what makes these lessons awesome for music fans.
I’m nearly 62. I suspect there’s some people in the old folks’ home that would appreciate one more bite of the poison apple (I’m an old headbanger, never stopped thinking like one)…
I have written some of my best songs from the first two minutes of a few of his lessons. I never finish the lesson but in screwing up what I’m trying to learn I make something new and great. It is often so inspiring. Lol
I've only been playing guitar for 14 weeks now, watched literally hundreds of different lessons on other YT channels, but Eric is my favourite teacher by far. Hendrix and psychedelic style riffs and solos without using chords is just what i need, please keep making these type of lessons. Subscribed.
Thanks Eric...Still playing and hardly a day goes by without your voice uttering a little nugget of wisdom from the couple years of lessons I took from you ...Great subject for this Vid, looking forward to the follow up !
Bridge of Sighs is one of the most beautiful records out there about those kind of riffs. Everytime I play my Strat with a Marshall, I am instantly playing like that album. What a golden era for music it was!
I'm trying to learn to make some doom/stoner metal riffs : since it's very related to psych blues, well, this helped a lot ! You're such a great teacher, thanks !
This was pleasant to learn. Been working on the major scales and this helped me see where it is involved for riffs and even chord progressions. Thanks for the help.
Budgie were great, I saw them live a couple of times back in the 70's. while Tony Bourge was still in the band. Brilliant gigs in a real dive of a venue.
From one of the only guys who reveres, and will tab out, Dave Rawlings, to this gem. Wow. Thanks for being one of the best out there Eric! BTW I love my old Carr amp too!
broooo you living legend with the catfish blues great example of a killer riff love that subtlety to rolling off some volume on the fuzz hendrix had the god damn feel!!!!!
Great one again. My little band of brothers calls me The Riff because I'm constantly bringing in new ones for us to flesh out. Looking forward to Part 2!
long time fan and weird ask. But I would love if you included Neil Young’s harvest moon into a video. It’s a great acoustic track and I’ve enjoyed putting some of your Hendrix inspired double stops over the progression
Love the video, had to mention someone in that home has a Green Thumb, just amazing healthy 🪴 plants creating an organic indoor garden...2nd channel explaining?
Nice video, great "Low key" bands on the examples, they are great. Budgie, Steppenwolf fuck yeah. You should break down some stuff of Mountain (Leslie West), Free (Paul Kossoff was a beast), The Small Faces (Steve Marriott), Canned Heat (Alan Wilson)... Damn, there's a lot of good stuff!, haha.
Eric I was making this comment and I was about to tell you to check out budgie and man budgie played. Hell yeah you are a true one. Check out captain beyond, sir lord Baltimore, Pentagram, Dust, Stray etc etc. please make more videos on these undiscovered bands!
You should make a video about Mark Lightcap from Acetone’s guitar riffs. If you’re not familiar with them check out their albums I think you will appreciate his playing style. Love your videos! -long time watcher
Good morning Mr Haugen! Just wanted to say congratulations for acknowledging the difference between a “Riff” and a “Lick”! 99.9% of channels today (by very good people) are continually misappropriating these names 🤔 This has to stop! And you are the man to do it! 👍🇦🇺 Keep on keeping on good sir!
Hey eric, great video. I'm very experienced with minor pents and scales, also experienced with major pent and scales. But I've never been able to mix them together. Do you have a video about that?
The Bob Ross of guitar tuition. Chilled out, skilled, and very informative.
no mistakes just happy riffs
I've often thought that, and it's always meant as a big compliment
Who is Bob Ross
😂 yup, Bob Ross indeed!
Ever make mistakes in live? Let’s make them riffs . Yeah, they’re riffs now.

Friday night relaxing with a beer, guitar and a new video of Eric Haugen... life is GOOD!
Dude you are the man! The music fans guitar teacher. Still cant believe you were talking LILYS one episode.

Got some good news and bad news. I’m 66 and finally starting to get this stuff. Guess I can rock the old folks home.. Great lessons.
What's the bad news?
The world needs great songs. Write a great song.
@@tomflynn2912 the runway is getting a little short.

I love just tossing Eric’s videos on even when I don’t have a guitar with me 🤘
Same here. I usually watch through without a guitar first, then again with the guitar in hand.
@@markkindermannart4028Ya right... that's the way... be schooled; be taught.
Watch and listen.
I do the same thing. Then I come back with my guitar and watch it again. Hands down the best guitar channel on YT
There are about 5 riffs that everybody always uses as examples. Purple Haze, Sunshine, Whole Lotta Love, etc. Nice to get some fresh ones instead!
The best guitar instruction videos I have ever seen. So great!
😎👍👍
THE GOAT IMHO👍👍
Sir, you are not wrong
I have written some of my best songs from the first two minutes of a few of his lessons. I never finish the lesson but in screwing up what I’m trying to learn I make something new and great. It is often so inspiring. Lol
😂❤
That Jimi Hendrix blues record is one of my favorites. That or Band of Gypsy's for me.
Check out Drivin South from Radio One.. maybe you know.

Great lesson. Love Budgie also.

Jupiter's child is my favorite Steppenwolf song by far. Love that tune!
I agree. I've been playing it wrong for almost half a century! 😂
Cool tele with the Bigsby & playing my era of music !
I'm trying to learn to make some doom/stoner metal riffs : since it's very related to psych blues, well, this helped a lot ! You're such a great teacher, thanks !
Great examples. Makes me appreciate those songs more. Your use of these songs we’ve heard before is real cool
Instantly useful in one’s practice, arranging, etc. Thanks.

Great rendition of the Blind Faith song from my past.
Great one again. My little band of brothers calls me The Riff because I'm constantly bringing in new ones for us to flesh out. Looking forward to Part 2!
0:42 riff vs lick
1:22 chord progression first vs scale first
3:55 riff bricks
7:20 Rehearsal letters
Just another awesome video, thank you Eric
Wow, fantastic lesson! Honestly haven't seen one like it before on any of the guitar channels I follow. Riffs are everyone's favorite things to play!
Great lesson. Keep them coming.
that intro riff slaps bro
Eric playing some Blind Faith. I certainly didn’t have to cry today.
You break it down really good sir😎
“Guitarmony” I love it lol was hooked to this vid soon as I heard the Blind Faith riff!
you got a Iommi feel working on the budgie riff. Something about the chromatic, its gutter rag.
The riff is king!
There’s music theory, and there’s music architecture. This is architecture, not theory. Excellent!
Such an inventive way to weave wisdom. Dude! Your vids always result in a killer mixtape playlist too.
Riff on Man ! Bel Ray ......Best amp ever
That s a great lesson Eric....not only very illustrative....also a fun one
This was truly informative and insightful and can be applied with so much versatility, also outside of the bluesy rock genres.
Thank you!❤😊
Muita informação valiosa, só tenho a agradecer, estudarei algumas centenas de horas esse vídeo.
What a great lesson thanks Eric
First time watcher, new subscriber…. And you’ve just added to my practice list and got me listening to another blues subgenre
Great video. Thank you
You are an amazing teacher. Thank you
Eric makes Fridays amazing... Thanks!
Some Budgie hell yeah! Tony was such a great guitarist both as a riff guy and as a soloist.
Dude I was just listening to Robin Trower today! Psychedelic blues,
Some of my favorite all time music. Dripping with Cool.
God, the tone of a fuzz face cleanup is unparalleled.
