- ABSOLUTE MASSIVE PROGRESS, The Mazda RX7 is not only back on the ground BUT it also has a full drivetrain now. We should have an engine back in this car in a few days as well. With the drivetrain, I decided to have everything dry ice blasted. and while it did do a great job at cleaning all the old dirt off. It was not clean enough for me to want to toss it back into the car. so we are getting a little creative with cleaning this thing up!

Masking tip: Try using aluminum foil to mask cables, tubes, and other large crazy shapes. It's easier to install and remove. Tape the edges where you want crisp lines. Just something that I learned from watchung industrial machine painters many moons ago.

@@Smeedia I have a FA20 motor in my 2016 brz that is in need of bearings, rods, pistons, gaskets. It hasn't been driving since I melted my camshaft position sensor from my turbo downpipe. The exhaust was sticking to the sensor 😑
It's been a mess😔 The motor still runs but needs some tlc. If i could send it to you to rebuild. What would you charge?

Yeah, get yourself some Klotz Two Stroke Synthetic Premix w/ Techniplate. At least for initial runs to really help keep it lubed and clean. The build is looking great Tanner! (I see you forgot to assemble ppf/diff on a table and lower car onto it, but looks like it still went good for ya)
With the pole jack and trans jack it made getting em in suuuuuper easy 🙌 stoaked with how it’s coming out 🥳
I was planning on using that alumiblast stuff on my built ej25 block. Everything was hot tanked but there’s just a ton of gross oxidation on the block, so I saw this stuff and figured why not since it’s temp rated for blocks.
Definitely give it a shot! The stuff works wonders and looks so good when done!

I was wondering why you had hearing protection on. lol I used to deal with large amounts of dry ice in the military shipping all sorts of stuff from food, blood or diseases. You can die from lack of oxygen if you are in an enclosed space. I often got light headed and got a headache when working with the nitrogen off gassing for hours.
I’ve seen that happen to some proper 🥲 def need a well vented area if dealing with large amounts of it

Dry Ice Blasting is just like any other service. Some places simply do it better than others. I, personally, haven't used it. However. I've known some folks that have with mixed results. Some places did great, and some places didn't. It is what it is.

My STI blew up and sat for a full year, I used that techron stuff and it ran perfectly even with a gross old fuel system so it must be decent.
The driveline came out WAY better than I thought they would 🙌 the 2.5rs will be a fun one. Tons of goodies coming for it 🥳 the Techron stuff works wonders 🔥

Hey Tanner, I love the way when something goes wrong you keep a great attitude. But I wanted to point out that I think your brake rotors are directional, I could possibly be wrong but that’s just a thought

Dude I was right in the middle of washing my subie parts right. I get boiling water dawn dish soap. Put my parts in, take one swipe with the wire brush… wife is like your baby needs a diaper change#2 haha. Well I was interrupted for 3 days and did nothing to the parts. After I had time I pulled the alu parts to clean and when I pulled them out of the dawn dish soap water they looked brand new. I was shocked.
Might have to give that a try 😅
You should just use that aluminum blast on the motor instead of stacking Oreos with different colors. I personally think the motors look cheesy when they do that.
I love the two tone look on the engines 😅 gives em a nice contrast IMO 👀 plus Mazda did em factory two tone 😅

As someone that used to maintain a website dedicated to car parts, yeah having an accurate description is key. I used to hate it when certain vendors gave you literally nothing to work with. Like what the fuck am I supposed to do with this? And you expect sales with no information about the part? C'mon.
But yeah, I was always pushing to get more information on our descriptions, cause quite frankly most of our customers were retarded. I did wind up reducing the amount of returns and whatnot though because of my diligence.
Like at minimum just out of a part will or will not work without having to buy other stuff. 💀 I get there’s a ton of parts but def a frustrating thing
@@Smeedia The worst part was that we did about 5 different main car lines that shared some parts across the different chassis, so there was cross compatibility to worry about as well. And being it was the "period correct" crowd, that was a pain in the ass.

Yeah buddy, when you change arms that/knuckles that have drift capatibility/capacity ... there will be a series of changes, but different ball joints, to longer or different shaped tie rods, alter brake line routing, etc...
--If you do go that route... contact a professional first, or your life will be hell. It's easy to make a car feel bad by throwing suspension parts at it when you are changing geometry.
The issue is parts availability, you absolutely cannot buy a new OE Style front left lower control arm anywhere. They have the right side everywhere. But for some reason you cannot get a left. Figured the next best thing would be after market arms. But nope 😂

I think that if you get wheels with a polished outer rim and either satin black or gunmetal centers... that would give a pretty trick depth as well as helping highlight all the underbody work ya put in.
I might have the wheels powder coated a different color, or may snag something else 😅
