At 05:30 I think it might be the handle of a cook's copper balloon whisk. All those strands open up to whisk egg whites ect.
It looks like it's broken at the point of maximum stress as you whisk.
The bulbous end is to protect the palm of your hand.

At 11:04 in your vid, the bit of ceramic is Chinese and looks to be pre-1912 (Qing Dynasty) as the Chinese characters are written right to left. Litterally: Gold, Jade, Full, Hall. “May your great hall be filled with treasure.” How appropriate. Probably the base of a good luck deity figurine like “god of wealth, etc…”

I was scratching my head trying to remember the characters from my Mandarin degree 25 years ago. I didn’t see the dot on the Jade character so I thought it was “wang” but of course it was “Yu” lucky I didn’t post a translation, I’d have never lived down the shame!

It's amazing that the Queen Victoria bust lay in the Thames all that time without anyone noticing since it's not really very small. I'm glad you found it! The dark ends of the links if the bracelet could be where the links were soldered and the solder hasn't fared as well in the mud as the parts that are all 9 ct.

Secondly, I can’t fathom why they didn’t use it in the program. Such an interesting story for the viewers.
I do sometimes think that there can be a snobbery amongst archaeologists and maybe the antiques world in respect of metal detectorists, bottle diggers and mud larkers.

Hey Si, My name is Simon also and I live in Los Angeles. Im a master patineur and work with bronze daily. If youre finished cleaning the bust and want to add a little protection, you can apply a coat of paste wax and let it dry for ten minutes and then buff it for a shine. If you dont buff after its dried, it will stay matte. Keep Larkin'!!

That the Queen's Victoria bust is really amazing. I've never found such large old artefact made of brass/bronze/copper. Greetings from Poland.

Hi there! Jeweler here. 😊Love your videos btw! They make me itch to go out and find treasures.
Just figured I’d mention that ultrasonics are more for loosening dirt, compound, muck, grease, etc from cracks and crevices. They’re not for loosening corrosion or tarnish. 😊
Which I realize you are finding/have found out!
    Cheers! ✌🏼🌀❤️

Si, I absolutely cannot believe the day you had! Really a gold chain and Queen Victoria bust? Good grief you’ll be dreaming of that day for a long time. Sitting out here in California watching you just makes me get itchy feet. I want to come over there and do some mudlarking at the Thames too!! Totally jealous! But incredibly happy for you!💜🤟🏻🤗🇺🇸

What I use on my precious metals is toothpaste and a toothbrush, it will clean it until it is like new. The toothpaste will also act as an abrasive and help clean off the crud. Also I use vinegar and a rock tumbler to clean my coins. Throw some copper shavings or wire bits in with it and wait a day. Cleans them good enough to be used!

The detail on that bust of Queen Victoria is amazing. And a mud bath has helped keep her beautiful! Cheers on the gold chain as well. Putting it in a tumbler might clean it up more than the ultrasonic machine. Perhaps your friend Wendy could do that for you. Thanks for taking us on the adventure.
