I apply a wax (any kind) to the metal threads before turning a bottle stopper...after one finished piece would not unscrew, and I crushed in trying to unscrew it. It helps.
Great little video. I watched Pete this morning as he turned a pocket watch stand. That project and these will both be great projects as I begin doing shows next spring. You shared valuable information re: design. I’d be concerned about the top and people wanting to bop the stopper on top to seat it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video Dave. I like the tips, tricks , and techniques that you show us. As a beginner in the turning world I appreciate them. Hope you had a great Christmas and I wish you a happy new year.
Great Video Dean. Quick Project that is a Skill Builder and makes me want to put to use some of those Scraps (Small Pieces not yet Turned into Art) and Shop Drop, I have hanging around the Shop.. Thanks again for the Demo Happy New Year
Excellent video Dean. The tips & techniques are one of the things that set your videos apart from many of the other channels. Hope you had a great Christmas, looking forward to what you bring us in the new year!
Chess pieces have made it into so many bottle stopper designs of mine in one way or another, you'd think that was what I started out intending to do...when in fact I had no design in mind at all. It was entirely subconscious.
Thanks Thomas, The sandpaper is a 3m product that they no longer produce I think you can still find it on ebay and amazon, but it is pricy. Thanks for watching!!!
