A Curacao Island Guide through the tips from the Locals only! Discover the island through the local's eyes in this Get Lost episode.
Kelley had heard the locals were friendly on Curacao, but she had no idea how generous and welcoming the local people were until she arrived. She interviews many of the island's locals, from a herbologist/witch doctor Dinah to 3rd Generation restaurant owner to young locals that work at the Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort, to find out what foods she must try, sites she must see and experiences she must have to discover the 'heart' of Curacao!

Thank you so much for the video, I'm a local born and raised in Curacao. I studied for 7 years in The Netherlands than I came back. It was hard to adapt again to the relaxed life but all by all, I am happy to come back. Some of the negative comments are true but there are a lot of positive too. The island and the situation is not perfect but where in the world is perfect? The older generation speaks 4 languages almost fluently. the younger ones are more into English and Papiamentu. maybe you do not like our food, but you do not have to judge either. Remember you eat what is known to you, so do we. Not always healthy but you can choose healthy food. if we eat the iguana because it is part of our history so no need to judge. If you decide to visit us, come with an open mind not everyone is the same in all the places, maybe that makes this world.

I am fascinated with Curaçao. Just visited the delightful island in January 2023 on an 11-day cruise. Love the architecture, the people, and the food. Maja was my tour guide! She is a top shelf, professional. I look forward to a return visit in the future.🌹
Just got back from there last month and really enjoyed the people, the culture, and the island. Wonderful, beautiful, very friendly people of all Colors & cultures, and beautiful island and culture. Cant wait to go back to Curacao & Aruba.

I know this video has been around for awhile, but a major complaint I have is way too much time spent on food.
Food is okay. I like food. But I’m spending thousands of dollars to fly to a Caribbean paradise to have some nice meals. Eating out is probably the last thing on my list I want to focus on.
Details on tours, activities, are much more appreciated.

Kelly, I suggest: clumbing the christoffel hill on sunday around 6 o' clock and after that you can go for a brunch at the plasa of barber. Very interesting thing to do and much better than plasa bieuw iin Punda. Local people are slightly different at barber. You can also go like a 5 minutes walk from barber to 'hofi pastoor' to see our flora and fauna. And the oldest tree of the island.

I really wanted to climb Mt Christoffel! I didn't have time as I shot the whole video in 36 hours. Apparently the climb takes a few hours! I would have loved to check out those spots as well--if only you were the local that I interviewed! Next time!

Very nice video and good insider tips (especially about the food!). It would be nice additional information to inform your viewers about the possibillity to rent a furnished apartment for private owners. This makes Curacao very affordable to stay!
You can check private houses on casacama.com (also for Aruba, Bonaire and Suriname, did you allready go to these destinations to make an insiders video?).

When you decide you want to see more of the states, and need company feel free to email me. Im due for a nice vacation i work up to 10 hours a day sometimes 12, 6 and 7 days a week i have 4 weeks vacation to use this year yet a vacation would be nice. I have a great sence of humor we would share alot of laughs together on our vacation. Well you have a wonderful day hun and thanks again for the reply. The video that surprised me was how enjoyable traveling by amtrack looked i wouldn't think traveling by train would be that nice.
