I like your point about over-organizing and how you prefer functional and frugal choices over unnecessarily aesthetic and costly ones, like decanting pantry items that are behind closed doors.

You can look around our home and find plenty of things that can be used… or our can make them out of something that you might already have… thank you for your inspirational message!!

I live in my grandparent's house built in 1920. When we first moved here 36 years ago we made due with what we had. We had a closet that used to hold an ironing board and I used to hold my children's baby food. We had old drawers and closets in kitchen but we painted and cleaned. Now it looks a lot different but you can make your house functionally with what you have....It has take us a long time but it is worth it to get your house the way you want it. Love your you channel. I Ike your idea of not being so perfectionist with keeping your home tidy and clean. Some videos I have watched do suggest buying matching containers to store food in. More money spent when I will be using the box of pasta soon anyway. Your videos don’t overwhelm me. Thank you!

Never underestimate the value of lots of shelves! So much space is wasted with too much headroom per factory-installed dimensions. Yesterday, my husband added 4 more shelves (using scrap wood we had in the garage) to my tall kitchen pantry, and the storage increase was terrific - everything sorted and fitted on its own custom-height shelf. Love your videos, and your energy for minimalism, Shannon - Many Thanks! ps the green paint to match the green tile in your spice cabinet - lovely!

Bins are a game changer for me. All of my cabinets are super deep and things would get pushed to the back and lost or forgotten. Using a bin creates a “drawer” that I can easily slide in and out as needed and everything stays together.

Same here, I live in a house that was built in the 60's and there's only three small closets in my home. My kitchen and bathroom is small. So I have to be creative and I have minimal things because I don't have the space for more stuff in my home. But it's okay, I'm learning to not only be creative but mindful of what I bring into my home.

Encouraging decluttering, yet it looks different for everyone. That is what I like about your channel. No head swimming list to buy more stuff to put more stuff in. The less I keep, the less storage bins I need. I like that you put your baby stuff in a pretty basket readily available. I have 2 pretty baskets atop my fridge for chips, snack items. Cannot see contents as they are tall but items are easy to access.

The best way to stay organized is to have only the things you regularly use and love. Too much clutter can’t be organized and you just end up clutter-shuffling. The other way I use to stay organized is to notice where I use items and make space in that location. That may seem self-explanatory but if I use scissors in the kitchen, craft room, office and workshop, I need dedicated scissors in each spot that are easy to find and that STAY there. No stealing scissors from one location to take to another. Labeling is another great way to stay organized so everyone knows where things go.

Revisiting spaces, keep decluttering and think about how you’re space is supposed to fit your needs instead of trying to do things “the way many people do or that we are supposed to do”… those are the ways I keep my home nice, tidy and organized.

Hi Shannon! You and your mom have both helped me so much with my decluttering journey! I started last year and have made huge strides! I started again right after Christmas with purging my Christmas decor and I got it down to 2 bins!!! Next year I’ll declutter it again after I decorate because I think I’ll want to minimize it more. I’ve gone thru every cabinet and closet in my house the last couple of weeks and it feels great! I do think I’ll do it again in a couple of months to see what I’m really using etc. Thank you both again for sharing your journey because I’ve been able to really relate to you both! Have a great week! Jackie ❤️
