    Wow man, what an angler ! And what a place ! Got a new subscriber mate.
    I can't believe what I've just seen here, I've had less carp action even on some commercial ponds before, so to see this on a tidal section of river is unreal.

      @@FishingwithDen . Hey your up early, you off fishing ? And that's OK, really it was great watching you on this session, I'll check out your other vids tonight, with help from a friend who has a spare carp set up ( 2 rods and reels, alarms etc ) I'm finally getting back into carp angling again after about 8 yrs off, I sold up, got disillusioned with it etc, really I just burnt myself out doing 3 and 4 nights a week on a 65 acre, deep gravel pit in north Yorkshire, that is sparsely stocked. I could of taken stock and just had a rest and got things into perspective. But you live and learn.
      That's the worst mistake I've made in the last decade, no joke, it's had me up nights thinking of it, and how much I missed it, spa couple of years back I just started reading all my old magazines again, improve your coarse fishing and Carpworld, aswell as piles of others that I was gifted when I was fishing a public park lake one day, and started watching it again on here so to keep atleast a hand in and not get left behind with what's going on in the scene etc.

      @@technomickdocumentalist2495 Hi Mick. I've actually just got back from fishing mate. It's 3:0 p.m. here in Australia.🤣 i retired here a few years ago. The carp fishing here is great, especially when I am almost always the only angler on the venue. The Aussies aren't keen on Carp, so most of them never fish for them.

My step bro and his wife and kids moved over there a few years ago, doing well, totally settled etc, and I have 2 aunts who were born there from my granddads second marriage, they always offering me to go but I can't afford that.

    Another good session Den…if you are going to continue to fish in that swim, you will need a shorter landing net pole or an axe to cut down that tree!🤣

    • @FishingwithDen
      @FishingwithDen  2 года назад

      😁 I do actually carry a big saw with me Stephen. What you don't see in my videos is where I have to cut dead fallen trees out of my way when I travel along the riverbank to get to my spot. When I do finally get the dead stuff out of the way, another flood comes along and I spend hours repeating the process.🤣

      Don't joke about it Geoff. I have had Jet Skiers come through there in the past.🤣 As for the bait, I did have far too much because I wasn't sure if I was going to be using groundbait or Corn and Pellets. It won't be wasted though, it's in my garage freezer.

    If you sweep you hand from the head back over the dorsal and pectral fins and hold them flat and then turn the fish upside down, the fish will stop struggling and the spines will be safely held, so you can remove the hook. Also crip the barb on the hook and it is easier to dehook the fish.

    • @FishingwithDen
      @FishingwithDen  2 года назад

      Thanks very much for the helpful advice. I'll try it next time I catch one. With regard to the hook, that won't be a problem though as I only ever use barbless hooks.👍

    Where's no sky jet there's a 🌲. Take a look at the spopper, used for barbel fishing (maybe print one 😊). Later edit: Korum just made the Bopper.

    Hi Dennis, what kind of feeder rod casting weight range would you use on a river for 20-30m?. 40-80g or 50-100g for example.

    • @FishingwithDen
      @FishingwithDen  2 года назад +1

      If you are going to be using heavier feeders like those you mentioned, I think you need to be using a fairly beefy rod. Even if you are only casting short distances, you still need a rod which can cope with casting heavier weights. Remember, the feeder may weigh 50 grams empty, but when it's full it could be closer to 100 grams. my own heavy duty feeder rod has a weight range of up to 120 grams. This allows my to cast easily to wherever I need it, either at short or longer distances. I hope that helps.

    Wow.... a lot of feed! However the # caught suggests that you didn't over-feed! I suppose even an 8lb carp can get through quite a bit once it starts feeding!

    • @FishingwithDen
      @FishingwithDen  2 года назад

      Hi Tony. it was a lot of feed, but in the end I didn't use the groundbait. I fed pellets and Corn though the Bait Dropper. The groundbait is back in the freezer for the next time I need it.
