I bought one, I wish the neck would of been finished better. I recommend Martin strings, but most of all brass bridge pins. I installed brass bridge pins and it made the $200 guitar sound like a $800 guitar. The guitar had a slight buzz to it, especially when you laid into it. The brass bridge pins fixed that. Play one and look them over before you buy, some have high actions. If your looking for a take anywhere guitar, for parties or your first guitar the fs800 or fg800 can't be beat. I love mine, my high end guitars have been collecting dust.
the FSX800C is new this year with pickup, electronics and tuner. Very nice even at $300 retail new. I found a 'return' resold in eBay at $180 to my door. Flawless in every way and batteries unwrapped and pickguard plastic still on.... Very sharp smaller and loud, clear guitar
I’ve been playing for 28 years. Solid top is the minimum I’ll buy. I just bought one of these for my campfire, summer camp, couch, and family gatherings where-kids-are-present playing. My 20 year old S&P Cedar Folk (another small body) is my go to for gigs and my practice/development. I prefer the wider nut and wider spacing at the bridge. That said, I really like this guitar from Yamaha. It’s my first Yamaha. The FSX5 has now made my shortlist for my “forever guitar.”
FS800 has string spacing of 2.0" at the bridge. Most good fingerstyle players would say that's too narrow. The larger FG800 is 5mm+ wider, and would be fine.
I love the open pore neck finish...I played 5 of these side by side at Guitar Center....one in particular sounded...well, like a $1000 guitar! It had the "pure white" top with very tight straight grain and no runout...it looks like Engleman Spruce but according to specs is Sitka? I must say the inside work is as good as that of my 2014 custom Martin OM! This guitar is freaky good...yes really! BTW you can hear differences in the tone of guitars here...it more like being in shotgun while someone else drives that Porsche ;-)
Oof, for what it's worth, whoever the audio editor was on this video really went overboard with the gating. The ambient sound cuts right out as soon as the guy pauses. Really disconcerting. I mean, you're marketing to musicians, and they hear this stuff. Maybe I'm the only one it bothers, but in the off-chance he/she reads this: try recording 30 seconds of 'silence' in the room, and loop that over the back of the mix when you're done with the edit. It'll add some life. Nice guitar tho ;-)
I read this before watching the video and wasn't really sure what you meant, but god it's super jarring everytime the natural room echo just cuts out lmao
Nice talk about the features and construction of the guitar, but unfortunately, demonstrating the sound qualities by strumming a few chords doesn't do it. It's about as useful as demonstrating the handling qualities of a Porsche by revving the motor.

iv tried yamaha fg and s last night at music shop. they are amazing guitars. thevdedcription here similar to what u found in reality.
Well described....thanks, I am looking into one of these as I love my Ibanez Artwood AC240....and this seems like a great guitar for this size.
I hope you went with the Yamaha.
I love mine

Which model is that one? i found that the Tinted one is a bit darker
Which Yamaha case would be the best fit for the FS800?
The AG3 concert size case fits it perfectly. It's what I bought for mine.

I hate that in videos. I always notice it too.

I'm trying to purchase a case for this guitar and can't find the neck length! The actual guitar is on the way... can you help???
I know it's an old comment, but Yamaha's AG3 concert size case fits this guitar perfectly. Really well made too.
It seems quite small.
Which string brand and gauge is on fs820 from factory?
It wood look so much better with square fret dots! Why these dots so small it's useless...

00 size ?
Is the string spacing closer together than on the FG version?
Yes, this one is 10mm, FG has 11mm
what kinda of strings do yamaha fs800 come with?
