Relapse Records proudly presents ZOMBI's new album, 2020. Their first new album in 5 years, 2020 showcases the songwriting prowess that has pushed the duo of Steve Moore (synthesizers, guitars, bass) and A.E. Paterra (drums) to evolve throughout their storied, 20 year career. ZOMBI has strived to build upon and expand their sound with every release. Now more than ever, the band stays true to their ethos.
From the pulse-pounding, dramatic opener "Breakthrough & Conquer", to the melodic bass whirls found in "XYZT", 2020 proves to be ZOMBI's most riff-intensive album. At first a soundtrack of driving musical euphoria, 2020 takes a sharp turn into uncharted waters - "Earthscraper" is reminiscent of a space where sounds of sludge and doomlike-riff crushers dominate the soundscapes. Synthwave and neon crescendos are furloughed in favor of Blue Oyster Cult inspired progressive epics. A truly therapeutic loop of immersive instrumental rock, 2020 might just be ZOMBI's most ambitious album yet.

RoyalWithChedda Cheese Its all instrumental, kinda like bands like Tangerine Dream and Goblin. They score movies too. I think it’s perfect without vocals, it’s how it’s meant to be. I could see Ghost’s lead singer maybe doing a a collaboration with them on a track or Zombi remixing a a Ghost song. They toured together so it’s be cool to see them work together.

@@waltonstreet5740 while I agree that this is perfect as it is, some bands know how to use the lyrics not dominant but more like an instrument if that makes sense (for example some tracks by 'Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard', just because I just listened to them) - could fit.
I expected metal but got something just as saucy, thanks relapse lov u guys

Don't know why but, this album, sounds to me as a game soundtrack; something like a DOOM 2 WAD.

Ah man this is just what I needed. This album is an instant favorite.
This is the most guitar I've ever heard in a Zombi release (if at all?). It definitely gives it a whole other feel. Good or bad whether you like more synths or not. This feels much more rock n rolly than other Zombi releases. The drumming is lout and bold, which makes it a bit less 'soundtracky'. I welcome this addition, it's definitely an evolution of their sound.

This is the only version of 2020 I like lol The wait was worth it, this is an awesome album. It crashes in hard and lays down mellow and trippy vibes at the same time. Love it. Fav tracks are XYZT, Earthscraper and Thoughtforms, but I love them all to be honest. Def a different but familiar side of Zombi that I’m glad they explored. It feels like a lost album from another time/place. 🎹🎸🥁

Thats a killer, really like thats 'heavier' and with a darker twist compared to 'shapeshift' - which was also a great album in its own right.
Same them live with Ghost years back, was absolutely impressed how they pulled it off!

Yeah, I hear it. A little quiet, lacking a bit of bass, and it sounds a bit like he's playing inside a funnel. Maybe they were going for that? Idk

I found the vinyl to be waaay better - I think they overcompressed the digital release unfortunately!
