Thank u!!!! My grandmother made this same pie and she used to have a cookbook with the recipe but the cookbook is gone!!!! Now I know how to make this pie again
I remember the first time I made this. I thought each bite tasted like heaven. I haven't made this in years. I'm inspired to make one. My grandmother baked hers for a little while because of the raw egg yolks. Have a wonderful evening Beverly.
Yes, they didn't play with those raw eggs, now people prefer raw, it stays in the fridge, because I hear them talking in the background lol, "girl you better bake that pie some" I love it!
Yesssss I remember this 🍋 pie so well because my dad was a southern man and his mom showed mom showed my mom how to make this was my late dad old time favorite lemon 🍋 pie well as old fashioned jam cakes.. my mom was from a western state. But she know how to cook my dad favorite meals.. 😍 to she would take the egg white and put it under the oven to burn a little bit of the yoke and then she would put the pie in regfigator for overnight. I remember that well.❤️👍🏽👏🏾✌🏽
This is how my mother made it! No baking with the egg yolks. Mom said the lemon juice cooks the eggs. Don't know if that's scientific but we ate it and lived! Loved it too! Thanks Beverly!
I made this last night and just had it this afternoon 😊 The raw eggs kind of freaks me out so I cut the recipe in half and use 1 s c milk 1/4 c lemon juice 1 egg yolk 4 oz cream cheese I don't use a crust but to keep my servings down to a little treat I always pour my deserts into a ice cube tray
Yummy that’s my favorite pie I haven’t made it in so long I forgot how much lemon juice to put in it and I didn’t remember it having two cans of condensed milk
Update, this dish was so easy, budget friendly and delicious to make. Use mixer on high speed. I added a tiny bit extra lemon juice. Mine did thicken after 24hrs. A must dessert for spring time festivities.
Great tip! A lot of recipes you have to learn how to fit it, I will make sure to put in the speed of the mixtures in my recipes because that does make a big difference, thank you my friend and have a blessed Sunday!
Thank you for inviting us into your kitchen ❣️ You mentioned that some may opt to bake the pie, at what temperature, and for how long would you suggest? Lastly, should the egg yolks be at room temperature for this recipe? I might try both methods, and thanks again!
Beverly Black Now you know I want this pie this morning it looks delicious and creamy and it has my name on it I got to make me one I have not had one in a long time this pie looks OMG My mouth is salivating I will be making one this week yummy and Delicious Thank You for Sharing Awesome👏👏🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋
I make something similar. One can sweetened condensed milk 3 tablespoons lemon juice. Mix up. Add 3 cups fresh blueberries and mix. Pour into a graham crust. Refrigerate. I call it magic blueberry pie. Try it. You'll love it
Nice! I think I found more use for my hand mixer rather than relying on my big stand mixers all the time due to my laziness lol! BTW, I LOVE Lemon IceBox Pie! My grandmother makes these a lot for the Holidays!
Omg. Made with raw egg yolks holy hell. You’re just asking for salmonella! This recipe is unsafe unless you cook it and then that defeats the point of an icebox pie. Never ever eat uncooked egg yolk or white. How have you not made your entire family sick?? And what exactly are these raw egg yolks doing for the recipe? Seems totally unnecessary.
Egg yolks are safe and the acid from the lemons also helps. Mayonnaise is made from egg yolks. It's the whites of the egg that you have to cook. That's why people can have over easy eggs with a runny yoke and the whites cooked. My grandmother made this pie every summer and I lost her a few years ago. I wanted to make it for my family but I couldn't quite remember how much lemon juice to put in it. I'm so happy I found your page.

That looks amazing and I love lemons however, I'd have to bake it.
I made this last night and just had it this afternoon 😊
The raw eggs kind of freaks me out so I cut the recipe in half and use
1 s c milk
1/4 c lemon juice
1 egg yolk
4 oz cream cheese

350 for maybe 30 minutes or until toothpick is clean, I always let my eggs, butter and milk at room temp.

Do you hand mix or electric mix all of your ingredients? I'm wondering if the blueberries stay whole? Thank you!!
@@5thribroarn304 no mixer just hand stir and gently fold in the blueberries so they stay whole

Hi Mrs. Beverly, good ole icebox pie
Yes, thank you.
Too pretty to cut! 🍋
Thank you Angela, loved every bite lol.
How long would you bake it for if you were to bake it? It does look delicious and will have to make this soon!
I would bake on 350 about 20 minutes.
@@BeverlyBlack thank you 😊
So when I take it out the oven do I still put it in the refrigerator or no?
Yes after it cool.
Did you ever make it using lime juice instead of lemon?
Yes I have and sometimes mix the flavors.
What size pie crust?
Just the regular size.
Looks delicious but it dont look settle soupy
I just couldn't eat something with raw eggs or egg yolks in it. Is there a substitution for the egg yolks?
The he eggs make the pie but you can bake it.
Do you have to add eggs?
No you don't, you can omit the eggs.
Hi Beverly
Hello Denise, this pie is a trat.
Mine is waiting to be put in the refrigerator
Sounds good!
Don't the eggs need to be cooked ?
You don't cook the egg just mix them in.
i made this last night it came out to creamy why is that need help
Bake it in the oven about 20 minutes on 350, I have had that to happen to me, but that taste is worth it all.
Raw eggs salmonella
A lot of people put raw eggs in energy drinks. I couldn't handle that. But 2 yolks in lemon pie?? I'm in!!

I have not had any problems, God blessed my food but you can bake it.
