Damn, Richard is passed? That breaks my heart. I loved the episodes where he laughs at her or puts her in her place. The one where he yells at her to leave the man alone in the call box is a classic😂
Hyacinth Bucket. Such a memorable character. An English born relative was a fan of Keeping Up Appearances. She once commented that when she was growing up, she knew people like Hyacinth.

This series is one of my all time favorites. Have watched reruns many times. Cast is outstanding. Much laughter added to my life. Even now.. Great picture of Mrs Bucket talking to the Queen couple years ago. They may be the same age. Thanks to all.
Cath Åberg Very much alive. Thank goodness. Seems as though I got a reply weeks ago that she had passed. Think person is confused and thinking of actress playing Mrs Slocum.
This was one of my favorite shows along with " Are you being served? " and "Waiting for God " and " As Time Goes By ". I loved PBS...and BBC... " No this is not the Chinese Takeout! " I must call the telephone company and complain!
My favorite part of an episode is when they go for a stay at Violet and Bruce's country home. Monty asked Richard if he's seen a bitch and he ever so slightly eyes the cottage where Hyacinth is inside.😂😂 100 points for Richard.
I love this clip! My all time favorite comes from the QE2 episode and she gets mud all over her and she screams “I’ll get you for this Richard Bucket!”
@@nelliedailey1917 take Onslow's sweet personality and combine it with Hyacinth's intellect and that would be another one of my favorite Keeping Up Appearances characters (I like Richard but my favorites are Elizabeth and Emmett because they're music geeks like me)
I used to feel sorry for him but he put up with it. That episode where he told her to knock it off and get in the car, I almost died, lol, I think she did too!
It was so cool the few times Richard actually put Hyacinth in her place!(Remember the phone booth incident??) RIP Clive Swift and Josephine Tewson. Greetings from Australia to all.
As much as I LOVE this show and Hyacinth, I have NO idea how Richard can put up with her dictatorial attitude here! Think I would have crashed into the petrol pump deliberately if it were me!
Richard is the PERFECT spouse for her! A real gentleman and sooooo patient. Some women need husbands like him....so they won't get beat! And this couple is truly in love💘 Hyacinth is still a very good wife. This clip is hilarious tho!
She reminds me so much of my grandma. I swear if I had been driving, I would have pulled over, put the car in park, and said "woman, make up your damned mind, and whatever the last decision you make before this car moves again is the decision that stays. There will be no more turning around so you better be 100 percent positively absolutely sure of your decision."
I was driving with my mother in the front seat. It was a sunny winter's day and we were coming up on a bridge. My mom saw ice on the side of the bridge. Right under the railing. She screamed (yes, screamed) "watch out", stamped her left foot on an imaginary brake pedal and threw her arms up, hitting me in the process. I'm a pretty good driver, never had an accident at that point that was my fault. And I had to point out the fact that hitting the person who has your life in their hands isn't a good idea.
That seems out of character for Hyacinth, going on a bus somewhere with Onslow (which is what I’m assuming that they’re referring to), where it’s going to someplace perhaps a few hours away, and not just riding on a bus that’s used for mass transit in a city. Usually, she can’t stand to be around him for any length of time.
It's been 20 years since I watched this. Honestly, it was hard to take. I used to laugh at this but now I just feel sad for all the people who have to suffer abusive spouses and other family members.
I live with tons of them (Hyacinth types) at Climping Life-care Facility, and they don't let me be myself. They say "Don't this, don't that, grow up, you're weird..." They make me 🤢 I have a good mind to yell "CRINGE!" at the top of my lungs at them. When I am not crying I am cringing, because of the way they treat me. Don't they ever evolve? LGBT is NOT sinful, and autism (yes, I have Asperger's syndrome) is not a form of insanity. I love being LGBT and I love the quirks of high-functioning autism. If anyone needs to grow up, it's THEM, not ME. They certainly are Hyacinth types. But unlike Sheridan, I am not treated well.
BTW *their username would be "WeWereDarnWrong". Because they ARE* I am fifty years old, almost fifty-one and I have been saying I am crifty 50. Because for me it's been *the year of the cringe!* A new Hyacinth moves into Climping Life-care Facility every other month.
I had a friend like Richard, off & on for 6 1/2 yrs, would give me the world if he could, did everything I asked of him, but I had no intentions of ever marrying him, even tho he asked me several times. I finally had to end our friendship this year, he became too erratic with his feelings for me. I could never marry anyone who was always a “yes” man, I’d want a man I was in love with, who was a challenge, keeping me intrigued & on my toes!! Poor Richard & Michael ( my friend) -
"I don't think I like your tone Richard..."
😂 😂 Priceless!
So sad to hear of Clive swifts passing. Great comedy actor. No one could have been Richard Bucket but him. Gone, but never forgotten. Rest in peace .

Scott McPhee BTW The hymn tune FOREST GREEN by Rafe Vaughan Williams is the best melody ever composed.
Thank you for being a long-suffering Richard. You'll be missed.
As an American I really appreciate this British humor and BBC America.

Saint Richard Bucket, LOL.
Dean Morrow : It's Boequet.
Hyacinth married him specifically for his last name. She continuously tries to convince people that it's spelled Bucket, but pronounced Bouquet.
Dean
