Would love to make a single color brioche hat but no idea how to manage decreases. Any chance you'd tackle that?

Maryna, HALP! I am knitting a pair of thigh high socks for my grandaughter, in the round, no pattern at this point and have just discovered that in over sixty-five years of knitting I have never increased in the middle of 2x2 ribbing in pattern. I kinda get it from your increase in pattern video, but wondered if you would make one of these great little quick knits videos on the subject. There is only one on RUclips that I can find, so I think it might be worth doing? Thanks.

Hi Karene. If you want to keep the increases less visible, increase stitches in the purl section of the ribbing. The groups of 2 knit stitches will look consistent and that will optically hide the expanded groups of purl stitches. Good luck :-)

When you write "Round 1" etc, is one round only one needle or both needles (all the way around?) I figure its both sides that together will make one round, but i cant see you doing the same thing twice in the video, if you understand what i mean?

Hi Josefine. If you use the magic loop technique as I do in the video, working a round means working both groups of stitches. When we use double-pointed needles and divide all stitches into 3 or 4 groups, then working a round means working all stitches in all of those groups. The best way to keep track of rounds is to use a stitch marker. Attach it to the beginning of the round, and your round will be working all stitches from the marker to the marker regardless of the tools you are using. Happy knitting :-)

I don’t get it. The written captions don’t accurately describe what you are doing.

The instructions are fairly simple - cast on an even number of stitches. In set up round, knit 1, make a yarn over and slip 1 (purlwise). In round 1, make a yarn over, slip 1 and purl stitch+yarn over pair together. In round 2, knit stitch+yarn over together, make a yarn over and slip 1. All of that is clearly shown in the video. The full tutorial is at www.10rowsaday.com/brioche-stitch-round Happy knitting.

Yes, they do. Why not watch it again? Brioche knitting can take a bit off getting used to. This is a great, clear, simple tutorial. Keep at it, and you will gain competency at knitting.

At the bottom right corner of my video is referred to as a wheel or gear you can click on that and slow the video down and knit along and I think then the instructions and the knitting will connect for you. Enjoy it is a cozy fabric and you'll have the satisfaction that you stuck with it .

I had to slow it way down, but when it says (purl stitch+yarn over), she is doing a p2tog . It really confused me too.
