      Totally! I'm really hoping Tunshi will bring Terry into 1/6 instead of just 1/12. That guy is practically the face of SNK. It boggles my mind that there aren't more 1/6 Terry's already.

      Congrats on getting yours! This is definitely a great piece to kick off your 1/6 scale collection (if you decide to go down this route that is 😉).
      The only thing I'd add is, it requires a bit of diligence when it comes to caring for this type of seamless bodies. The rubber tend to rip and tear if left in a pose for too long. It's a bummer like that, but I'd recommend leaving the figure in a neutral pose once you're snapping those beauty shots. The exposed parts of the body are also dust magnets so leave it in an enclosed display if possible.
      Happy collecting!

      @@ElbearToys I haven't gotten it yet, it's still in transit.
      i mean i might get a couple of the KOF figures so there can be some fights n such (and if I can find one for a decent price, a tifa figure), but i dont think im going to full on collect them or anything. It's waaaay too expensive for me. Plus, the whole china aspect is sketchy enough. I usually stay far away from buying stuff from china (because of fakes n stuff, not because I dont like them or anything). The "taking care of" aspect is a little off putting too. Ive seen people say theyve had no problems with tears but instead they had like "creasing"...and i've seen the other side of the spectrum with tearing and replacing bodies n such. Dust attracting is definitely gonna be an issue tho that i'm not looking forward to. Worst case scenario maybe I can replace the body in the future if something happens.
      I'd love to grab the Mai figure from this same company and see if I can find the Leona and Vice figures from Genesis (i think that's the companys name) or maybe the genesis mai if I cant get the tunshi one. I'm a big fighting game fan and KOF never really got any "figure love" like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat did/do.

      @@timmer919hep Mai from Tunshi looks promising, but the 2P color from Genesis Emen isn't bad either.
      But I understand your concern. Recast and bootleg items could run rampant in many local markets in China. So it's easy to fall prey to these scammers on places like eBay, Amazon, and AliExpress. But I think buying from a reliable retailer will eliminate most concerns.
      Sadly, some of the best figures I've seen in this hobby are unlicensed, which is technically a bootleg. But there's a difference between unlicensed products that are made with actual production value vs cheap copies of existing figures. Hot Toys, for example, is one of the top brands in this hobby. And there are bootleg versions of their Spider-Man and Deadpool figures that are so awful, they'd make you laugh. Then there are beautiful recasts of a custom-made Indiana Jones that are highly sought after. And it takes some time following this hobby to spot the difference.
      But in any case, licensed 1/6 figures by brands like Hot Toys, Damtoys, Enterbay, and Threezero are always a safe place to start. They're usually carried by official distributors like Sideshow. Then you can also check retailers like OneSixthKit, Giantoy, and Gundamit to see if they carry any quality unlicensed products.
      This hobby is one wild ride.

      @timmer919hep 2 года назад +1

      @@ElbearToys i meant bootleg as in "not the genuine item", not so much that they are unlicensed. I know they aren't official and the market is very "unlicensed".

    Ace review as always Elbear. Again your reviews are clean cut, and straight to the point . great lighting, and the figure size comparison you do is very helpful in making a final decision for a purchase.
    I love the KOF series but i passed on this Blue Mary . its a fine figure.
    Im hoping to assemble the KOF97 Woman's Team in 1/6 scale someday..... Poptoys Chizuru Kagura / upcoming Tunshi studio Mai /King
    (although i think that King may be a custom 1/6 though as she doesnt have the popularity as the others)

    • @ElbearToys
      @ElbearToys  2 года назад +1

      That's a good point. Maybe I should have a dedicated video just for TBLeague figure body care and articulations. That way, I don't have to repeat myself in every review that features TBLeague, while not depriving anyone of that information. In the meantime though, there's an oldie but goodie that covers the basic articulations. TBLeague used to be called Phicen before the rebranding.

    Blue Mary! One of my favourite fighters in KOF. Tunshi did a good job but I'm gonna nit pick a bit. I wish they made a unique body for this so Mary can have the muscular details arms she has in the 97 game, but I understand that may turn some people off. Also wish her pants had more bloom at the bottom instead of tapered but that's a minor detail I suppose. The jacket is a nice extra I guess. Material choice is weird but agree at least it's not leather lol. Oh Mai.. Tunshi might do a great job on her but I am absolutely spoiled by the 1/6 Max Factory figure. It would be hard for any new figure to top that (bias). Looking forward to the review anyway. ;)

    • @ElbearToys
      @ElbearToys  2 года назад

      Another great observation!! I really wish you were my consultant when I put the script together 🤣 I coulda swear the bloom on her pants came with later redesigns...but you're absolutely right. They're there even for KoF '97. Though I suppose you can pull her pants even further down so there's a little excess fabric to get a bloom going. I tried to pull them down so the belly button is showing but the pants always rises back up. And yeah, a more muscular body probably won't cater to big crowds. Plus, it would've required a whole new level of R&D that I don't think Tunshi would commit to.
      You're right about the allure of that Max Factory Mai too. I've owned 2 1/6 Mai's made with TBLeague bodies now. Twice I tried to replicate that statue, and twice I've failed spectacularly. I don't think that one can ever be topped.
      And as always, thanks for sharing! Yours thoughts is always fun to read~

    • @DmnHd81
      @DmnHd81 2 года назад +1

      @@ElbearToys it's kinda weird that the bloom seems to be more apparent in the prototype pictures Tunshi released so they obviously knew about it. Guess they changed their mind mid-release.
      Btw have you heard the vocalised version of the theme song that plays in the beginning of the video? I think it's supposed be Mary singing but it's in Japanese since KOF doesn't have American voice actors back then (and still don't actually).

    • @ElbearToys
      @ElbearToys  2 года назад

      @@DmnHd81 Oh yes I most definitely have~ The arranged soundtracks from KoF '97 and '99 played with live instruments and vocals are WAY ahead of their time. It would be so cool if her theme song was really performed by was Blue Mary's VA. I didn't even think about it because Blue Mary sounded so playful in the games 😆

      @Elbear's Toy Box yeahhh, the third party ones that try to use no seam bodies are really hit or miss. It wasn't bad visually, but I wouldn't count on it being any good. If we get an Ángel, I'd like it to be from Tunshi or Storm

    I noticed with your Mai Shiruani that you have the headsculpt belonging to the newer purple version.
    Can I ask did you also swap the default body too?
    I own the red version and would like to make her look better so any advice you can provide would be highly appreciated please 😊

    • @ElbearToys
      @ElbearToys  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for asking~ And I do apologize for glossing over the details for that one.
      You're very sharp. The Mai figure featured in this video is indeed a hybrid. The head, body, and the hemp ribbon on the back are from the Genesis Emen 2P purple color variant, which I call version 2.0. The red costume, hands, and feet are from the unlicensed Super Duck version which is long sold out. But don't fret it because the craftsmanship is really shoddy.
      I personally really like the head sculpt and the fuller body on the 2.0, so if you have the red one (version 1.0) by Genesis Emen, I'd recommend getting the 2.0 head and body (if loose parts are available that is) and slap on that 1.0 red costume instead of looking for the lousy Super Duck one.
      Then again, the upcoming classic Mai by Tunshi might be the Mai to end all other Mai's, so it's a tough call 🤔
      Hope that helps. Happy collecting~

    Fantastic review! I bought this figure partly due to this video. My only question is does bending the arm and leaving it in that pose for a long time damage the figure/material? I’ve never owned this type of figure before (soft skin and bendy, not sure what its called 😅).

    • @ElbearToys
      @ElbearToys  Год назад +2

      First off, thank you so much for watching! Second, welcome to the hobby!
      And unfortunately, yes, leaving joints in a pose for a long time will cause the rubber to tear/crack. These types of figure bodies are called seamless bodies, as opposed to the jointed bodies that are commonly found on just about every other kind of action figures. The rubber for these seamless bodies is usually molded in a neutral pose so it returns to that shape naturally. Neutral pose refers to straight arms/legs/neck/waist posture like how the figure was packed into the box (colloquially known as the "museum pose").
      I'd hate to be the devil's advocate again, but while these figures aren't too exciting in the museum pose, they do look great together as a set. Tunshi has also released a, Mai Shiranui, and a Yuri Sakazaki on pre-order 😁
      Either ways, happy collecting~
