The US forced the Afghan govt to release 5,000 prisoners and many of them are terrorists with so much blood on their hands.

Unless the usa was willing to stay on there as a sort of quasi colonial power for at least 3 generations and was willing to change the very nature of Afghan society and reigned in pakistan. All of which was near impossible mostly due to lack of political will there never was going to be a victory.
