Fire Emblem: Three Houses[a] is an upcoming tactical role-playing video game for the Nintendo Switch published by Nintendo and developed by Intelligent Systems and Koei Tecmo Games. This is a first in the series, as all the past mainline games were solely developed by Intelligent Systems.
This is the sixteenth main game in the Fire Emblem series and the first on a home console since 2007's Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, and features more detailed graphics than previous installments. Honestly, New Game + is just me kidnapping all of my Blue Lion students for my Black Eagle playthrough.
Same here! I’m only on chapter four, and I’ve recruited Sylvain, Ashe, Mercedes and Felix. Poor Ashe was not spared from having to face Lonato despite playing a different route.
I managed to recruit all of the blue lions except for the obvious but for some reason when I played the main path ashe disappeared when I played secret path he was with me

@@mrcat4508 If you stand against the empire, ashe will always appear on the valley of torment mission due to his ties to Lord lonato. You can get him back by beating him and choosing to spare him.

This game is so much fun. I like the part where Hubert threatens your life and your support level increases. The best mini game is the "shove random items in people's faces" mini game. Where you take useless items, such as "used bandages", shove it in someone's face and ask if it's theirs. I'm sure those students are talking bad about you when you're not around.
What about when Leonie screams at you about how you never appreciated your dad like she did... and your support level goes up

Started with Black Eagles. For NG+ went with Blue Lions. Saved my BE students, and we all said: FUCK YOU, EDELGARD (and Hubert)!
I can attest to shoveling Edelgard’s mouth full of sweet buns to get her motivation up.
LOL I totally forgot sweet buns are one of her actual favorite things to eat!
She does mention somewhere in the game that when the war is over, she'd like to just stuff her face with sweets once.

Well of course it breaks the game, you're literally able to carry over stuff from your previous playthrough. That said, I agree with the video, and your comment, it does make it more fun. I worked hard to get A+ professor rank in my first playthrough and worked hard to get C rank in all my skills to make recruitment easier. I didn't recruit everybody but I recruited characters from other houses I either couldn't recruit before and wanted to get to know, or really enjoyed having last playthrough. I usually have a hard time with new game+ because I've done everything already, but with new units to acquaint myself with and a different houses perspective, the game still feels fresh enough that I'm not getting bored.

Maple Syroof I’m making her a dancer. Swords up to B rank for levin sword, heavy armor up to C for weight -3 to help her dodge more (alongside sword dodge +20 from dancer, of course). Up’d faith and reason with renown so that she has more utility and damage, and if I can I’ll go for B rank bows and Flying, too, so that she can use her hidden talent and alert stance.

What about Flayn? Has one of the highest Resistance growths in the game, could easily defend magic unlike most armored knights.

Honestly new game plus removes a lot of the tedious parts of the game, so I like it. I'll probably get creative with my units eventually, but not yet.
I personally most like having the ability to do two or even three battles per week on Hard Mode, in which you can't do unlimited auxiliary battles.

Oh I absolutely love the more weird aspects of class experimentation and outside of the unfortunate gender-locking (if there's one thing Fates did right, it was almost entirely getting rid of that) there's so many options. Like in Blue Lions I didn't feel like using Gilbert as a replacement while waiting for Dedue, instead I just boosted the heck out of Marianne's heavy armor and axe skills and used her just for the hilarity but at the same time ended up being strangely viable.

I honestly love the fact that the faculty can be your students too. I never get enough of seeing people like Hanneman and Manuela sitting in your class, taking notes, and asking for advice after class. It's ridiculous, but it's the best kind of ridiculous.

That's what I did. When I wanted to play a new Route, I made a new save file. Kind of a mistake tbh

For most people that's likely true. Personally, I like optimizing the early game to get professor levels as quickly as possible, while still managing to recruit the characters I want AND get Byleth's weapon ranks at the appropriate levels to get him/her into the class I was planning for; of course, that goes for the students as well. It's gratifying to wrestle with so many aspects and succeed, and for all the talk about grinding through fishing, it's not possible early on.
If anything it's unfortunate how new game+ forces your battalions and statues bonuses on you, just makes the game too easy. I'd use it more if not for that, the cosmetic stuff is really nice.
@@FFXfever you can opt to not use the statues ever, because I don't think there is much of a difference if you level them full while you play or just skip some weeks while you have them maxed.
@@CyclonSilver I haven't noticed the statues bonuses affect me too much. However, I did just max one statue on my first NG+ playthrough yesterday, so maybe I'll notice it then? And technically you don't even "need" to max out the statues. I've been doing it solely for the completionist in me, but I may stop if it bodes to easy. What do you recommend? I enjoy resource management, so when I can max out something it feels good. I only like the statues because they give me more points to teach with. I love the teaching mechanic and having other things to grind other than my units. It makes the people feel more like humans than just weapon types and movement types, like Pokemon. If you break pokemon down to it, you could battle on paper with types and their moves and numbers. The character is what makes the people/creatures shine. So when they separated weapon and move types from the person themselves it doesnt feel like I'm just battling with weapons, types, and numbers. There's much more to it.
New Game Plus is such a great idea for this game, it is like an evolution of the Fire Emblem Fates Unit saving for skills.
It is also gonna make Lunatic such a great adventure!

But unlike Fates, some skills you can only use while you're in that class, like Bowrange+ that Snipers and Bow Knights have.

I did not do New Game +, but I did have a high professor level... because I realized that you get double professor level ups on the double-fish-catching days, so I restarted the game, bought all the fish bait every week and saved it for those events.
Also I did almost all of my student-motivating by shoving gifts at them. And recruited every recruitable student, also by shoving gifts at them. Gift all the things!
How could you forget the Holy Tomb. Thats potentially 3+ Stat Boosters every time u enter the Monastery.

Three Houses will likely be the first time I've ever used New Game+ in any game. Having the benefits of Renown and the Professor Levels carried over will be really useful for Maddening Mode so it should help me get started without tearing my hair out (I tried Maddening with a fresh file and... yeah, I can't get through it) but I'll still start from level 1 and not be OP from the beginning. The fact that New Game+ usually carries levels over is the major reason why I've never bothered with it before in the games I've played where it's an option.

My favorite part of new game plus is the crest items. Want your Dorothea to have the thrysus? Then give her the craft dragon sign. Want your Bernie to have the aegis shield and the crest of fraldarius? Then give her the fraldarius sign.
My favorite part is giving my dancer hilda the fetters of dromi and having her kill the boss in one turn.
New game+ existence is so that we can get easier to S+ rank all those weaknesses in characters that normally training would be incredibilly much longer without it *proudly looks at my 99hp Great Knight Bernie Russian Bear with S+ on armor,sword and axes* she's beautiful.
new game + means that maybe i can finally have some bow/dark/holy knights. this game needed more master classes

If you played Black Eagles does that mean YOU DIDN'T PROMOTE BERNIE TO A BOW KNIGHT? the BEST bow knight along with Shamir and Leonie? Well then let me explain you how bow knight goes:1.Leonie is a crazy monster on ANY class that isn't magic related she has the same growths rates as Bernadetta but even better and actual defense but she's 3rd best because she doesn't have a crest and if you give her a crest i would rather want to have a inventory slot and because her ability Rivalry is not crazy good and a lot harder to activate if a flier or cavalier and because she doesn't have vengeance or rescue or the only good bow art in the game that only Bernadetta and Ashe have *Deadeye* and even if Leonie has more maximum Str and Spd than Bernadetta the gap between their strengths is the same or Bernadetta with 1 or 2 more points because of Bernie's super easy to activate ability Persecution Complex and the gap between 69 and 81 máximum speed is closed by Bernie's crazy indech Crest that makes her very good at classes she isn't supposed to and Bernie has a skill she only has and one of the best skills in the game ignored by a lot called *PASS* so to resume Leonie is a Bernadetta with defense but without any single tool of what makes Bernadetta so great and then you have Shamir CRAZY EVERYTHING SHE'S A BEAST SHE'S GOD SHE'S HAS BEST ABILITY okay? And she's already A rank in bows so you can spent the timeskip training her another weapon or movement type and the problems is she doesn't have a Crest and i don't want to give up a weapon slot to have a Crest and doesn't have Deadeye basically she's Leonie but even better and GOD she's better and then you have Bernadetta which can be arguable if she is the best bow knight or Shamir is the best bow knight but for me Bernie bear's the best Bow Knight:Pass which only her has,Deadeye can kill from even 13 or 14 tiles with the right build,Crazy ability Persecution Complex very easy to activate and solo a lot of maps,insane Crest,Vengeance which only her,Dedue and Cyril have but you are not going to use lances on them and Rescue which you can use even if you don't make her a holy knight.
@@lordsalt7595 first playthrough was black eagle. second was blue lion. the reason i never promoted bernie is because i played the game blind, and have never been good at thinking ahead. by the time i realized i should have trained riding, it was too late to get it up to A by the end of the game. i will not make the same mistake with leonie, or with bernie on a second BE playthrough. helps with replayability i suppose

If it is designed to be hard even for NG+ that would add even more difficulty if you're willing to start a fresh new save. I'd like that.
I wonder what would happen if the supposed Story Addition DLC would require you to do ALL routes beforehand? What kind of shenanigans could that possibility lead to?
Justin Hurowitz oh so a mode balanced around having the option to give everyone ashes to dust? Will the opponents all have ashes to dust too? Will hellfire rain from above every turn?
Love the concept of new game plus. I bought professor level B at the start (I find it's a nice balance since you'll easily hit A+ professor level around the time skip, and you don't need more than 7 activity points early on anyway). I played Blue Lions first route but recruited a bunch of Golden Deer units, so my second playthrough on Golden Deer route was made far more convenient since I could buy back their mastery skills. Having death blow on Hilda and fiendish blow on Lysithea from the start was incredible. Not to mention how easy it was to recruit every student on this second playthrough. Buying supports or weapon ranks to recruit students was great and convenient to save time. And considering how many paralogue require multiple students from different houses, this really is the best way to experience them.
Definitely love this concept and I hope that it returns in future games.

You have to buy the stuff with Reknown, so you still have to do aux-battles, and skill ranks can only be purchased to what they've been in a previous playthrough.
So you can't just force a rank A faith and have Pope Raphael immediately. But if you trained him part-way before, you can buy back his rank the next time around and get him there with more ease.

new game plus exists so that you can play all the routes and not feel complete agony, and that is very much a good thing for everyone's sanity. If I ever want to do a true challenge run I can start from a fresh file but when you just wanna enjoy the content the game has to offer its a sothis-send.
I used Lysithia as a mage, and I can clear a map with her alone(1st playthrough). I was gutted when I found out only males can be dark mage, because she is a nightmare. Agree all the way on succesful tactics being the most rewarding.
styln2nyt she still learns Dark Magic even as a Warlock, and when she goes to Gremory it just completes her with the range boosts.
@@AtlasRega oh, I definitely turned her into warlock. I was giddy as a school girl the first time she started floating after a k.o.! LOL 1st playthrough is golden deer, so i turned ignats into dark mage. Hes no slouch either on the mage scene. Those 2 are mage beasts!

Going through my second time now. First as golden deer. But i recuted Annette so those two are going to be my mage army of doon😁
New Game+ can be so wild. One day I'm gonna LTC/Speedrun Golden Deer route 8 times to get 8 copies of Claude's broken flying battalion and equip them all on 8 Wyvern Lords. You can do this with Dmitri's broken King of Lions Corp battalion, speed clear the BL route 8 times and make an army of 8 Warmasters each with Wave Attack gambits and 10 phys atk.
I knew you kept previous battalions, but I didn't know you could get duplicates of them.
Guess it works like Renown.
Better yet, implement a full strategy on top of the meme one and give yourself a stride user for +5 movement, retribution to let you counterattack mages and archers, and warp to put you in the middle of the enemies. Get wrath and vantage, and you have an instant-win-any-map character in the first chapter. Make Lysithea a gremory and you can double warp turn 1 with a dancer refreshing her
Yeah we can all agree Three Houses is the best Fire Emblem Game.

@OrganicOrganist Golden Deer has been great, but of what I learn what happens to the others I'm torn there is any value to play Black Eagle, if you lose two of your best units or more to Villain Shananagans?
Just recruit Felix and Mercedes or Lysithea ( you can grind byleth skills with the knowledge gem in a grass/forest tile) until they get the desired weapon rank
2 years late but for me FE3H has got one of the best character writings in the franchise who carries the not so wow factor plot.

To be fair, in retrospect the NG+ bonuses are so strong that I don't think a game mode that relied on them would be interesting anyway.

I mean you can always Fish your way into super high professor rank. It takes a long time irl, but you do eventually rank up. I maxed out my professor rank somewhere around chapter 15

I agree NG+ is easily my favorite aspect of this game. These types of modes are supposed to make the game feel more fun and I think it definitely does that by enabling more options to play the game. At the same time, there is still a high degree of resource management involved, especially if you did not stock up on renown prior to your NG+.
Aww, in my church route I named my character "Sothis" and walked around in the Sothis outfit. Good times!
Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, New Game+ ties into the time control that Sothis has bestowed to you. Why would you start everything from the beginning as a weakling, if you could start all over being the best teacher the academy has ever seen? "If I knew then, what I know now" type of deal.
It’s a nice option, see when the first 10/11 chapters are basically the EXACT same it helps to fly through it with elevated skills/quicker recruits
And here I am making Marriane a Fortress knight. It is ridiculous honestly the High Resistance plus the Above average defense makes such a deadly combo.
farming food for motivation is key in the beginning-mid game but I eventually just switched to flower seeds(more stat boosts) and would buy gifts in conjunction with Lost Items to bring up motivation. That saved me chances to level up my skills via factulty/student training.

i have come here with absolute no knowledge of the game and it was like hearing how they make the Plumbus on rick and morty
Optimising and management has always been my fav aspect in games in general. If I had all the time in the world, I would probably be going on an endless loop of maxing out all characters' abilities, and the New Game+ makes it possible :D
I like that being in NG+ means I can have Byleth start with actual skills befitting a professor. First time I played and Byleth felt less like a teacher with all the students getting better than me by the 3rd chapter. I'm on my 2nd playthrough going with the Black Eagles again just so I could have Byleth master War Master and Bishop for a couple useful skills I want to have before going into the GD + BL routes (though scared of those a tad cause I love the CF route even if it's pretty short.) Most of Byleth's skills now are at B+ and I have designs of taking him through so many different classes.
I freakin' love the new game+ mechanic. Though I'm still not done my second playthrough, I'm eager for my third and fourth with schemes and ideas already in mind. If I had more time to play, this would likely pass towards my most played game.
One thing I feel is important about New Game Plus is that it also works together with the upper-level difficulties to make playing through all of the game's story paths and getting the full picture of things far less tedious than it could have been. Having to start from scratch at low Professor Level every time would have been such a slog.
AND YET, because so much of New Game+'s features are tied to Renown purchases, you really have to think about what you unlock during your playthroughs, because you're not going to have enough (at least on your first NG+ run) to max out your Professor Level *and* get all the skill ranks you want *and* unlock Supports for units you want to recruit quickly *and* get items from Abyss, and it's all tied to stuff you managed to reach before anyway so you also have to factor in things you want to reach on your *next* playthrough, too.
You know my second play though was black eagles. The thumbnail is surprisingly accurate for me (also damn funny)
Black Eagles on New Game +. Recruit Leonie, give her a Killer lance, and with Knoghtkneeler crit, Death Knight 1 is dead.
Or just recruit Lysithea and use Spikes :P

I agree. I love new game plus, and honestly getting most ranks doesnt do much to make the game easier, in some cases(alert stance) it does, but in most cases it doesnt actually change much. I find that im still around level requirements for mission as well, so the game remains a challenge. I mostly use new game plus for the support building and its amazing, or allowing my byleth to get tutored for crazy builds.
You'd only overlevel yourself if you did a bunch of auxiliary levels, even with EXP boosts.
I mostly try to do it only when I can get some rare ore.
I oscillate between challenging runs and experimental runs. Boy, does New Game+ really let you experiment. It's a learning tool, gives you all the narrative freedom you want for repeat playthroughs, and allows us to ease in to higher difficulties and unfamiliar team comps.
This is the you can do something so you must. If you are not then you are imposing difficulty on yourself and that’s not the way games are meant to be played. The game must consider everything in order to be good.
Vs. this optional mechanic allows you as the player to be more creative and to play sub optimally and still have fun.
Also non new game plus is still an option and you can still have the challenge
Those are the two sides.
New Game+ is the best thing in every FE game ever, its also a reward for those who beat the main story mode fair and square at least once, it always feels good when you earn the ability of freedom when you earned it by beating the game like a pro, for me every games with cheat codes should've have been accessible when you beat them at least once, its more fun that way if the makers of the game wants you to experience the whole gameplay first and allows to cheat only after you win and not from the very beginning
I REALLY want a cursed or demon bow (something that takes HP from user when they use it) for Bernie to compliment her personal skill that makes her stronger when she’s not at full health but there is no bow weapon in the game that does that :(
Just have her use a devil axe or sword for one fight and then go back to bows.
Louie Satterwhite I just liked her a lot as a bow knight who never has to get close to anyone, but I plan on making her a sword master in another play through with the devil sword :)

A bow knight cyril with vantage, wrath, defiant crit, bowfaire, close counter is so stupid. One of the strongest player phase classes and the strongest enemy phase skills. I love how this game has infinite replayability

The Blue Lions definitely is the best house and story. Second is the Golden Deer and last is were ever you want the two Black Eagles paths to be lol.

New Game+ for some reason can be stacked up against the AI. A+ Brawling on Byleth is busted, especially in the start of NG+. 4 attacks and high crit rate is totally not busted (sarcastic).

Tbh, my favourite FE strat in general is get a unit, make 'em Swordmaster, give them Killing Edge and set them loose. Having 3 to 4 characters with absurdly high crit-rates makes every battle easier. Combine that with Lysithea with the +2 magic range staff and warp, and I've essentially beat the game.
Works pretty well on any nonmaddening mode

Also, I also agree towards liking the later FE games because with enough knowledge and planning, you can get pretty creative and make unique runs!

FULL ARMOUR KNIGHT LYSITHEA RUN, YES I NEED TO DO THIS NEXT PLAYTHROUGH.
I will never forget armor emblem: three houses where I made every girl in the game study axes and armor for 6 weeks until they could pass the armor knight exam. Instant bump to 12 defense which was often higher than most of those characters could reach in an entire playthrough lmao.

Renown should be reimburstet at the end o a new game+ like ure going to farm 3 playthroughts for that 1 perfect run?
You keep your unspent renown, saint statue levels, and you get 3k (normal) or 5k (hard) for beating the game.
I got a perfect run with recruiting everyone on my second playthrough.
Agreed. This is just far and away the best game in the series and one of my top games of all time. You can't objectively or realistically say any fire emblem is better.
I finished my first playthrough with literally everyone I recruited (everyone recruitable) becoming a Dark Knight (blue lion route).
i like ng+ a lot because you can buy the class skills you spent your time grinding in a previous playthrough. like, you already did all that grinding once, but now you don’t have to again if you don’t want to. then i can have death blow and wrath on everyone without forcing them into axes again
I actually chose to grow things that boosted res. Even though it wasn't too much, it still made it so that dedue was a tank overall and couldn't easily be taken out by mages. It was actually very nice
God, the part with the two voices thing was a bit out of left field, and was near impossible to listen to for me at least.

The best part about NG+ gardening is you dont have to use tea time outside of raising Charm( depending on chosen Dancer) since the amount of flower gifts you get when using the pegasus blessing makes recruitment far easier and you can use those extra few free time sessions to focus on factualty tutoring

ive literally never done anything besides auto instruct and skip weeks to the next chapter and have somehow ended up with an entire class running A+ profeciencies in their main tools

I love New Game+, I'm using some of the students I killed last time and was also able to grab some good skills for my BL units like Lightning Axe and Fiendish Blow on Annette. I'm gonna keep using the same slot so I can improve future playthroughs with skills and battalions, like after this one I'll always have Quick Riposte whenever I use Gilbert since I'm making him a War Master this time
Boost Lysithea's Bow Rank to B so she can use the Magical one. Works much better than Luna against Falcon Knights.

My most enjoyable playthrough was my third I took EVERY character possible in Golden deer route except Dimitri Hubert dedu etc and tried to get the supports as high as I could my efficiency was about 80% it took a long time and had a lot of stuff to do i had almost everyone to a high support with each other I really recommend it some of them are super funny Lorenz and Ferdinand is funny I also recommend Lorenz and Sylvain
